The Kizer Beglegter has gotten the most pocket time as of recently for me, strong "enough" for most uses, but not that far outta place in an office. Came RAZOR sharp, but has very unassuming looks
The Chaparral either in frn or fibre is, in my my view, the best all around edc knife, especial in relación to price/quality. Yes, sometimes you need a longer blade but for everyday use it's perfect. Mind you us Europeans generally go on for shorter knives (less phallic compensation required).
I held a shamwari and I own a TBC LEXK plus and I prefer the deployment of the Lexk over the shamwari. It’s the easiest front flipper deployment I’ve ever seen. So easy to deploy with thumb or pointer finger. I love my Burger Custom
I have sold all five of my Benchmade knives. I had to do it. Over time, the axis springs WILL BREAK. If you just stick it in your pocket and open or close it to do a task, no issue for at least a couple years. BUT if you like to obsessively play with the action repeatedly, the brittle nature of the springs creates tiny cracks in the steel wire. Eventually these will create a sharp bend or completely shear the spring steel. It always happens at the very bottom in the curve of the spring. Replacement springs on eBay are $5, worth doing if you break a set rather than waiting weeks for it to be repaired and returned by BM. But BEWARE! Those springs appear to be of even poorer steel, and the loop that goes around the axis lock will need to be "adjusted" to fit the lock bar ends, so the bar itself can freely rotate. Otherwise, the bar tends to gouge the liners or vice versa. I had a Bugout that came that way from the factory where the spring loops were too tight on the bar. It had a crunchy feel to it. If your BM feels like this, you may need to get the bar rotating before you destroy the bar and liners....
I’m just checking out this old video now. Ive had 12-15 axis lock BM’s over the past 8 years or so with no breakage. But, you are 100% correct. Google broken omega spring and you could read posts for months. For some reason, I very rarely use or even carry my BM’s. I don’t fling them open using the lock and rarely flick them, I think that helps. I have 6-7 left but should get rid of them. BM frame locks are even worse. I have the $300 765. They all use a rotating stop pin etc to adjust lock up and nothing but trouble. There’s lots of other problems too like the 940’s pivot screw always backing out and real finicky to adjust. I love 940’s and 950 designs. The new super Freek looks great but not buying anymore BM. There’s been a lot of posts lately about broken springs on the Bugout. If BM were smart, they would switch all locks to the one on the Anthem but they won’t. Spyderco isnt much better. Many of their lock backs have minor up/down play. It’s been a problem for years and they never fixed it. The Chinese can make a frame lock flipper 100 times better then them. I’ll still buy Spyderco but I’m very picky.
@@thomaslanders6244 Agreed. The Anthem is on my short list now. It works the same as the Manix 2 which I also have and love! The American made Spyderco are the only ones I have and will buy now. Gave up on the Seki City ones, and Taichung isn't for me either. Taichung are well built, but I can't justify buying anything that isn't American made at this point! The Anthem will be my one and only Benchmade.
The Para 3 (with Lynch clip) and the Kapara would both be on my list. I would have the YoJimbo 2 (my favorite folding knife), the SpydieChef, the PM2, the Slysz Bowie, several GEC's (#92, #35, #85), and the Case Pocket Hunter (genuine stag or chestnut) on my list.
Wish didn’t start collecting knives so many years ago. Seeing knives I got heck just 5 years ago for $225 now going for $300 to $350 and it’s literally same knife make things hard for me to pull the trigger in so many today. Understand inflation and all but when steel/metal prices go up obviously the price on the knives need to go up but the prices never go bk down once the price of the material drops bk down to regular level. For 10 years I may seen prices go up only a few dollars here and there but now some of these increases of $75 to $150 more of a knife still in production for 7 years or so is crazy to me. Think a lot of good happened when they changed the term what a mid tech knife was to a customs and just cause it was done thru a cdc machine it was now considered a custom even though wasn’t done and made 100% by hand like they used to be. But the bad since then these same knives from all these other brands that sold knives for just $225 or $250 now are selling em for the $350 to $400 price range all cause these custom cdc knife makers can sell theirs for $600 plus.. but supply demand issue. Just hard like say when I am so used to for so many years seen same exact knives so much cheaper and last 2 years they gone thru the roof in price. For instance u mention often how the spyderco shaman price jumped up a lot rt after it was first released ad they saw the demand for that knife. Well now it seems the majority of the knives I like have done that and gone up a lot not a little in price. When someone used to only buy from $250 max to Under now is expected to drop another $100 added to a knife would had gotten for that $225 few years ago is a big discouragement. But the budget knives I do feel is so much better then it used to be. Bk then it was the spyderco tenacious or rat 1 or 2 for instance. Now they got so so many great budget knives out there.. but like me who like these titanium scale knives etc I just can’t get past that price increase
I was surprised to see the Shamwari on your list and especially that high! You must have really liked it. I guess I'll have to keep it haha. Holt specter is on my list for pickups at blade show this year, cant wait!
3 totally different knives. Not a fan of the bailout. IMO, the best overall tool of those 3 is the superfreek. The Kapara is a great choice for general edc and precision work though 👍
Metal you really should try the new m4 version of the Bailout. Lightweight, solid construction, contouring, texturing, toothy M4, fits a lot of your preferences
Interesting choices. Can't say I agree with all of them but haven't handled some of them. I was surprised to see the knife that won the perfect folding knife was #2 and then the man who says he loves Hinderers doesn't make it number 1. Interesting. You did just get to handle the other one recently so that makes sense.
When you got down to the last 5, I knew it! The image did not have the beautiful purple of the one you reviewed.. I like that one better. Great list. Every knife has a reason for it's place. Still on the hunt for the 0562ti!
Contrary to popular "knifeguy" opinions, it's generally safe to buy $200-300 knife from a well-reviewed seller on Amazon. There are 0562ti's in stock there.
Great video, have watched many of yours. Where doyou have a list of the knives you discuss. Sometimes you talk too fast and I can't get the name of the knife you are lusting over.
Right, but what I meant was, some people are currently waiting for theirs to be made. On top of that, at some point, they'll open their books again. This video will still be around, so my wording had to be considerate of that.

You need to put a brown up against the holt. And no way in hell is any Hinderer better than any Koenig. I prefer Browns over Holts but either could flip flop with a Koenig for top spot. Hinderers are good knives but not even close to the level of these other three mentioned
Well this upload isn't necessarily "better" or "worse", it's about my favorite knives in order. I know full well Koenig's overall quality is a bit better than Hinderer's, but I don't really care. I still prefer my XMs 👍 EDIT* - Also, this is a dated list. I have a more recent list. Look in my "top 5 and top 10" playlist.

can't argue with your list. can't say that I have touched half of it either. I was supersized to the ZT0393 so high on your list. It's pretty awesome, although I have the black and blue one.

At the very top lol
@@metal_complex yeah. It’s in my top 5 for sure. Cool. Thanks
I can agree. I stopped carrying everything for my holt specter 👊
Yeah I got a butter knife/pairing knife so I don't think I have a need for the Kapara.

You dont?

No.
