I relate a bit to Mark, not that I know too much about him. I just didn’t have any concern or shame** around being a virgin. Maybe because it was such a conscious and voluntary decision.
I had sex for the first time at 29. I internalized a lot of my family’s religious values but I was also out to prove to myself I could follow those values better than they could. To stubbornly defy their prejudice that gay men are barbaric rapey heathens desperate to gang rape angels like in sodom and Gomorrah lmaooo.
Ultimately I’m happy I waited. I’m not a huge trial and error person, I’m more of a watch your siblings/ friends fuck up and learn person. It’s always worked for me. I’ve made my own share of mistakes for SURE but I learn best by observing people in my life directly and then acting.
