Very, very helpful. Thank you. I would love to have time to sew all the time... I don't "need" new clothes but it would be fun to have all the variety you have in your colorful blouses. With everyone talking about knits, I was glad to hear you talk about wovens.
Love the new fabrics, and the styles you showed, you really know how to use them wisely....you have inspired me so much. Next year I defiantly going to start making dresses and top and keep watching your work , as it’s so inspiring for me, thank you so much for sharing all of them....❤️🌹❤️🌹
I would love a new sewing machine! My Pfaff is about 15 years old and the harp is only 4"! Quilting large quilts are impossible but it made me learn how to do hand quilting. Thanks for great pattern suggestions. Your videos are always so very helpful. Love all the fabrics. I must work on my stash! I'm taking a page from your book and am going fabric shopping for my birthday in August- if I can wait that long. LOL
I love what you did with the stripes on the melody dolman. In fact, ALL your makes are just lovely. I really enjoyed this video with all your hacks and beautiful fabrics! I just started sewing with Love Notions last year, and have sewed multiples of the patterns I have. The styling and cut of their patterns is so figure flattering to anybody, I think.
I have fabric for the Cadence, a navy print rayon. My current machine is only about 3 years old. But I gave my smaller “travel” machine to a new-to-sewing relative; so I’d be overjoyed to have a new BabyLock for to-go sewing events.
Thank you so much for this video - and all of the others. I so very enjoy seeing your makes, your hacks and your enthusiasm. You have a way of making me think I can achieve almost anything!
I am stuck on an island literally, and enjoy many of those patterns. Covid sure has made me, and likely many others, appreciate having sewing as a hobby.
I have the greens color way on the tropical leaf print and it has lime green to deep green and I absolutely love how it feels. I'm going to hack a three tier dress with a thin tir at the neck front. The material is so breathable. Like your blue it is a favorite of mine.
Ah this is a super video - just what I needed. I’m inclined to freeze when deciding what to make with my fabric, but this type of video is perfect to help me move forward again. More please. 👏👏 I think you instinctively understand what sewers need and just have the knack of demonstrating it effortlessly. I’d be lost without you! Thank you.
Like you, I really love sewing and wearing garments made of woven fabrics. I have noticed that every time one of my Rhapsody blouses are clean that’s what I tend to reach for first. It has proven to be the most comfortable blouse I’ve ever worn. To me a good fitting woven is actually even more comfortable to wear than a knit because I think it is cooler. It was your recommendation that spurred me into purchasing this pattern. It was actually the first indie pattern I’d ever purchased. I’ve been wanting to make a Rhapsody dress out of crinkle rayon, but I’m sort of dreading trying to make bias tape for the neckline. Maybe I should do a faced neckline like you’ve done before; that would also give it a slightly different look so maybe it wouldn’t be quite so noticeable that it was the same pattern. Thank you for recommending this pattern; it’s definitely a winner!!!
I am not sure how old my machine is. I got it used in 2012, a Janome. I am guessing 10-12 years old. Love watching your excellent tutorials and videos.
Thank you for all the wonderful tips!!! I used your link to go and purchase a couple of these patterns and I can't wait to make them. I too love wovens and really needed this video!!! Great ideas!!
Katrina, thank you for showing us your Love Notions favorites -- I love what you did with your with the rhapsody blouse. the fabric that you plan to sew with the polka dots and floral on will make a gorgeous dress and I can't wait to see it. Your sewing tutorials are so helpful to myself and I am sure many of your followers and please keep them coming. Take care and be safe.
I wanted, really wanted, to buy the Love Notions Dolman and finally did it. But I was stuck on how to do a fba, so the pattern sat without even being taped together. Then they released the extended sizing, but that was no help. Finally I found your video from Sept. 9, 2020 on how to do a fba with a woven fabric and a dolman sleeve. Thank you so much. I finally have an answer and can make this blouse.
Eish......my bank manager need a chat with you...lol. I keep watching your videos and then buy the patterns... I have bought nearly every love Notions pattern for ladies now and love them.
Hey Karina! Love all the patterns and fabric. I've made 5 Rhapsody blouses so far and its safe to say its my very favorite pattern of all time. I haven't made the dress yet but I will!
I learned to sew on wovens back in the day when stretch fabrics, as far as I know, weren't even available except to coutouiers, and when if you were a girl you automatically were forced to take 'home economics'. Stretches are relatively new to me and I often find them hot to wear. The air doesn't seem to flow through on a hot, sticky day. Now its hard to find a really nice sports cotton, for instance, or a lot of the summer cottons than kept us cool in hot damp weather. I morne their passing. I'm trying to like streches but its an uphill run.
I am scared to sew with knits , I guess I am afraid of the stretch ! I do prefer woven to knits as knits tend to cling and accentuate any bumps or fullness a person might have 🥲🥲. I prefer woven fabrics. Love yr colorful fabric .
Trying to get done with a quilt for my granddaughter so I can get started on that Rhapsody. Looks like my kind of top!!! But this quilt just seems to be going on forever!!!🤦🏻♀️
I know where you are coming from. I just finished my grandsons quilt, took it to my longarm lady, now it's done and I have to bind it. It's a long process. I can't wait to get back to sewing clothing.
Perfect timing! I need a pattern for a top to go under the linen blend jacket I made in a spring aqua color. I found a beautiful woven print with aqua and navy and I know one of these patterns will be just right. Thank you for your suggestions and sewing advice. It helps a lot because I get overwhelmed with all the choices. You help me focus!! Fort Worth Texas Grandma
I have several Love Notions patterns and I agree that they are fabulous! You have some stunning tops .... I too have the Cobra Corsage fabric .... it’s so gorgeous and I’m looking forward to see what you make with it. Your Mum looks stunning in her polka dot dress 😁
I love all your fabrics, but the Black Pink & White fabric is beautiful!!! I would love to see a video on how to place patterns to match stripes? I have similar fabric, but scared to cut it.
Love watching you Karina the patterns and fabric are lovely and I must admit I do find working with woven fabrics more satisfying but I still use a fare amount stretch fabrics. X
I have just printed out the Rapsody today, and am verry exited to make it. Your green Rapsody dress is still one of my absolute favourites! And I bought the Lyric on the sale 💪because of the fit of the beautiful red top you made. I have converted to digital patterns because of the great sizing options, I don't know that I will ever go back to traditional printed patterns
Always love 🤩your makes! Thanks for the inspiration! Now I’m not sure which one to buy... omg so many to choose from! Decisions decisions lol. Most likely will use your link to buy the Metra Blazer tho!
Is it possible to extend the sleeve length to three-quarter on patterns like Melody and Vivaci? I look terrible in short sleeves but I don’t want to add any visual size to my torso. That may be a stupid question but I’m a novice at altering patterns.
This is another wonderful video filled with good info. I am a big fan of woven fabrics, those knits, especially ITYs do not behave. I am still struggling to understand the pdf pattern process but have used your link for LN patterns I have.
Not sure how to use Instagram. I clicked “follow” and the only way I found to leave a message was to create and send one. I don’t know if that is correct.
I love rayon for summer, so cool. Love linen but do not like the look of "need" ironing. So together they must be perfect. I love how much I learn from you. It has been a vicious circle, and I cannot even register for a new account as someone is already using all of my information. Ask for a link to reset my password as the link never comes.
