I've only experienced 2 crashes, but I definitely concur on the loadout bug! It's so freaking annoying having to reset my loadout every time I launch the game! Plus it also does all the annoying tutorial prompts too!
And ofcourse the annoying tutorial tips! Make me disable them, i love keeping my HUD clean as possible for immersion… Only to read bright texts the whole game. FFS im level 46 i don’t need those!
Agreed. It happens to me at least once a mission and to the other people in my group as well. "reduced incidents of patrols spawning on players". How about we get rid of it entirely? A patrol is meant to keep watch over a specific area and should never just pop into existence on top of players imo. The odds that we are all just happening to be in the middle of a patrol location AND that it just so happened to spawn ON TOP of us are very very low. Which tells me the game actively "pings" our location before spawning in the patrol and is throwing them on top of us. Just code the game to check player location before a spawn is loaded in and make it unable to spawn in within 40m of a player. I don't mind them spawning in, it's just when 2 titans, a charger and 8 fatty diarrhea bugs spawn directly on top of you along with a horde of hunters, or the equivalent bot spawns, it's very difficult to react fast enough to get away before you get ganked by them and extremely immersion breaking when they do. Give us a little distance so we can react to it instead of popping up on top of us. I've had it happen so egregiously that they have actually pushed my character model out of the way because they spawned in directly on top of me and needed the space lol.
I just dealt with endless patrols on a lvl 4 mission and it was insane, lasted forever. Way worse post-patch, but any progress is moot as the game crashes every 20-30 mins.
@@Porkleaker This is my experience on every difficulty greater than 4. A patrol calls a bug breach, so you wipe it out, but a second patrol spawned behind you and called another one. You decide to just break contact because the bug breaches are quickly going into a death spiral. You run, because you’re still too close to sneak, but stumble face first into another patrol. No problem, turn around and put some distance between you and this patrol, but now you’ve aggro’d ANOTHER patrol. Now you get to spend the next ten minutes just running because every time you are about to get away, the game drops another patrol in front of you and starts it all over again.
I dunno if you're on PC or not, but nvidia just updated their drivers, so downloading those may help. Seemed to help me a bit with the crashing, but it could just be placebo
They need to fix the load-out bug were every time you load up HD your weapons, grenades, emotes and voice packs are all reset and you have to manually change them to what you already had.
I know how you feel, but I would imagine the crashing should be a bit more important. The loadout bug takes 40 seconds at the most to change everything back.
@@nier2b440 The screen freezes. The sound freezes or the last sound effect just repeats itself. And I can't close down the app manually. Not even through task manager. I have to "sign out" of windows" then sign back in.
@@jaeger6711 It doesnt' give me a chance to send a crash report. The only time I've had crash reports is when "steam" crashes. But not when HD2 crashes. I hope it is fixed soon.
I only ever got hit by meteors like twice... I just looked at them as "Unsolicited Artillery Support" since they seemed to hit a lot more enemies than allies. At least that was my experience.
I hope they fix the movement around fallen bile titans. Sometimes it will completely block objectives, and moving around it is very glitchy and sometimes impossible. I've been trapped underneath bile titans and forced to kill myself, it literally vacuums me inside or teleports me somewhere else.
To me, meteor showers make no sense especially as implemented. Right now they function as a targeted but scattered orbital barrage targetting a single player. In reality, a planet with such frequent and intense meteor activity would annihilate surface bug hives and automaton factories without helldiver intervention. In fact, super earth wouldn’t colonise that planet in the first place, at least not surface colonies.
On PS5 and since this patch the game freezes while in mission and I have to close app and restart the game. It happened to everyone in the team at different points of the mission. Happened in the following mission as well. Looks like we'll need another hot fix... 😢 Update: it seems to be the fact I was using the arc thrower, apparently Blitzer causes same issue.
Many people have noticed that they crash more with lightning based weapons, so the arc thrower, arc shotgun, sentry. Also noticed that I crash if there's someone with the arc thrower after a while each time now. This was attributed to the fix that now counts lightning attacks toward accuracy. You may wanna hold off using lighting based weapons until the next patch, that should reduce crashing.
I noticed the game crashed for three of us exactly when I shot a bug with the blitzer, so it does seem like it might be the problem. Could just be a coincidence but who knows.
Can they fix whatever bug is changing my loadout? Every time i boot up the game i have to change my emote, voice, primary, secondsry, and grenade. I cant express how frustrating it is to forget to do this and realize when im in a match that i dont have the right weapons.
This and the tutorial texts all over the place every time you restart the game. And you can not skip them literally explaining everything in the game to a level 46 Vet. 😮

The reason - they fixed lightning shots not being counted towards accuracy, now it counts towards accuracy, but seems to crash the game after a lot of usage. So if you have a 12 minute mission that you complete quickly, you won't crash. If you have a 40 minute mission, you are gonna crash after probably, 20 minutes with normal arc weapon usage. But that's just how the community judged it for now. I have also tried playing after the patch for a bit, and had 2 games where people ran with arc throwers. Crashed in both of those.
@waldamy why would anyone want the arc leaps to count toward accuracy, you arent being accurate its just automatically jumping for you. Im so tired of every update in this game having major game breaking issues like this
I played a game where we used 12 reinforcements just because of meteors. The meteors had aimbot or something, and the storm followed us the whole game.
I am so glad they actually started fixing these bugs. Especially the enemies spawning out of thin are. My god that shit was infuriating. I also hope they soon start to focus on fixing the buggy servers tho. I have never had a night with my cousins where all four of us did not crash at-least once or twice, and every time I reopen the game, it acts as if I’m new and never played the game before giving me prompts and resetting all my load outs.
This is very good, a step in the right direction for sure. Honestly, I just wish the devs were a bit more transparent with their vision of the game and the changes/additions. Keeping a mystery is cool, but let the changelogs not have "stealth buffs/nerfs" anymore T_T
Yeah, having the mech suit spawn in already on fire or immediately blowing up sucks when it's a 10 minute cooldown with only 2 uses, assuming you don't have increased stratagem cooldown going. then its 15. And I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't been able to use the melee in the mech suit even when I just called it in AND it wasn't already burning. Hopefully that's changed.
I lowkey just want them to patch arc thrower so when you shoot the lightning bolt directly into the face of a hunter at close range it actually hits it. It makes no sense to me that you can't hit targets up close. They could also stand to improve the pathing the arc takes substantially because it seems like even if your reticle is on the enemy, the arc has trouble finding them if there's even the slightest bit of obstruction or elevation change. Like, I aim at his head but his foot is behind a dead body so therefore my shot misses?
I am playing on PC basically everyday since the game lauch and this month i don't remember the last time the game crashed. Comparing with February that was almost impossible to play, the game is working very well now, at least for me.
Exact opposite for me. Daily play since launch (when it worked), and I get to finish maybe 1 in every 4-5 games. It's the same thing for the 4 other friends that I play with. All on PC. Often it happens after about 20 minutes in or as we're extracting. Super frustrating . Going to try tonight as well and see what happens with this patch, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Honestly thought the title was sarcasm since this patch, while sounding great, finally made us quit. Good game. Has issues. Got a lot of time out of it tho. We are capped on everything except medals. So kinda lost interrest either way.. BUT the damn flying bugs are a nightmare. We were introduced to them in the worst way possible aswell. The nest was on a hill, is armored, cant be wiped by a single 500kg and whatnot. Sooo annoying, especially while being chased by the usual half douzen hunters and a charger. We later realised the spawn rate of the flyers (which, by the way, can oneshot you, because why wouldnt they) was so insanely high because right after the nest we struggled to find out how to destroy was a second one. Which went down far more easily after you know what you do, but still. The game is inconsistant, tells you nothing, and half of what it tells you is blatant lies and wrong tooltips. Im glad the patch did something for balancing tho, it's not like i hate the game. Im looking forward to checking it out in half a year or so, but i seriously hope they have some mid-term motivation in place by then. Operations are great to get you to play more than a single mission, the week-long community stuff is nice to have.. but we miss something inbetween.
It would be nice if they added a mech pickup feature if you run out of ammo but the mech is still alive, which would allow you to call it again after some time
i noticed at 2:53 you missed a very well placed shot and it's because the anti material rifle has a bug where the actual reticle is in the top left side of the center reticle. you can see it in one of standard aces videos
RIP to all the stealth runs ruined by this bug. I know ive had many die to this. Then again i uninstalled cause of the patrol spawn rates but ima install it again and see how it works
I've been dealing with all the small and annoying glitches they havnt fixed or even addressed, but the crashed and disconnects have been brutal since the first balance patch. No problems ever before that patch for me. Now its atleast 2-3 disconnects every time I sit down to play the game
Getting a lot more microstuttering during gameplay... it seems like every single time they release a "patch" they mess up the performance of an already middling performing game. I didn't think that it was possible to constantly go backwards but Arrowhead is proving me wrong with each and every "balancing" patch that they shit out.
Well I'm glad they fixed the mech rocket bug that was really annoying, but I never had a issue with the environmentals except for the fire tornadoes and having a inordinate amount of them tracking me at any given point, so if those got cut down a bit than I'd welcome it. However the one thing I'd really wish they would prioritize fixing is the friends list, which has been broken since day 1 and not being able to get into games with PC homies is a real let down, while there is a workaround for PS5 friends, but it does kinda suck having to play a game of roulette trying to figure out which one of us everybody can join on a given day.
Literally joined a diff 7 game with full squad. The planet was dark as hell and I couldn't see anything, and then we proceeded to get butt fucked by 100+ shriekers and even more hunters. Love the new patch!
the exosuit uses the basegame button layout, so if you remapped it, it is still F for melee, BUT afaik if you use the remmapped key while in the suit even F doesn't work.
Yeah same here. It’s a pain. I’ve been able to friend people on cross-platform, but only once and we were in a game together, i.e., on the same server; but I can’t play with my brother whom I convinced to buy the game so we could play together.
You did have the melee option, it's just all mechs were damaged on drop if your host was running at a high fps. You can see the sparks. I toggle to low fps when I'm dropping a mech to avoid it as host
Tested the mech You can now stomp at faster speed and longer reach and even damage you can stomp still Problem I had now that they fix rocket blowing us up is that you actually need to calculate and adjust where you shoot since it doesn’t follow reticle as well as before And there is a small chance you can still blow yourself up with rocket
I think the direction is good, though unfortunately the planetary modifiers changes don't hit what I wanted most. The environmental ones are annoying, the ones that affect my strategems make me not want to play. I am desperately hoping they end up tying those to PoIs on map so you can do something about them mid-mission. Spore Spewers, Stalker Nests, and Strategem Jammers are some of my favorite things to encounter simply because handling them actually makes a positive difference.
i was worried when they nerfed the railgun but reducing heavy spawns and patrols making EAT and recoiless viable against chargers fixing the environmental stuff it all makes me hopeful for the future of helldivers 2
I have no clue why but me and my friend crashed 4 times yesterday individually before we stopped. I’ve had maybe only a couple random ones throughout playing but the game was completely freezing on us. Not sure if it’s happening to anyone else?
There are a couple of things that need to be addressed. 1) The load out, voice and emote rest 2) PS5 boot up issue. (The PlayStation studios & Arrowhead screens do not show up. It's just a black screen until the intro video.) 3) Matchmaking. I got the game 2 weeks after it came out and I've had issues getting into games ever since. When I can connect to a game it's blast. 4) This came after the last update the screen tearing that goes on during the loading sequences is crazy 5) The primary weapons need some serious buffs. Even with the "nerf" the breaker is still primary in the game. The rifles needs love.

Has anyone else experienced the issue where picking up medals on mission would cause the character to freeze standing still? You can still turn, just can't move for ~20-30 seconds. I don't know where to report issues, but I've been able to reproduce that one a number of times
My experience, crash , crash, DC, DC, Crash, Exit ship parked its self under the floor. And helldivers running about with no model, just a helmet and gun. PC, great job guys !!!! That said, I love this game, they'll fix it.
They added shriekers now. Flying enemies. They are a fun addition but their nests, which are giant trees that look like spore trees, have too much HP in my opinion. They take 2 rockets from a recoilless rifle to destroy. Whereas the spore trees, which are bigger and thicker, only take 1 rocket. I think they should lower the HP of the shrieker nests.
I really hope they’ll fix the social bugs. My brother and I can’t even see my fiancée on our friend list at all. Tried friend codes, everything. They can’t even accept our friend requests. It’s silly
Id rather deal with the mech missle bug than their fix. They fixed it by moving the point the missle comes out of slightly left, so often (idk why it goes to reticle sometimes, but not usually) you miss targets because it goes way left. My buddy sqid his were going way high.
Ok good, I'm not the only one seeing tons of crashes. Also, it seems like they fixed the exploit(?) where you could mouse over unvisited PoIs on the map and the "Minor point of interest" text would show up, allowing you to easily find every PoI on the map.
@@bobspalding2477 I've been using the scout armor in the new patch and it's not working anymore. I'm pretty sure I could do it in other armors before this patch as well. The only intended map interaction with the scout armor is seeing enemy presence around your pings, afaik.
the only problem with the fire tornados was they were homing missiles fallowing you and cornering you, if they made their pathing random they can keep how many showed up.
Joel reaaaaally doesn't want us to complete the major order... 1 random crash, 1 crash after the 8th bile spewer killed for the daily and 1 on my way to extraction... I'll wait for the next hotfixe. (Ps5)
All the update did was make my game crash halfway through missions. Just rolling shit out without checking if it works is going to kill this game, it still has the good will of the community but not if every single update causes more issues than it fixed. Like the mech blowing itself up when you try to shoot while turning is something that should be fixed BEFORE it's even released
Did they fix the atromonical amount of game crashes? Mine has crashed close to 60+ times. It's unplayable and I still managed to hit level 50. I stopped until this is fixed and the last update made it worse.
Melee stomp on mech still only works with the default key 'f'. Sucks for me since I'm left handed and rebound it to 'h'. Headlights are hard-bound to 'x'...nbd there since you just leave them on or off. The melee stomp on mech needs to honor the remapped melee key.
The thing that concerns me most is that they have never mentioned the extra damage to bile titans, and sometimes other enemies, caused by PS5 players joining PC players. They don't ever list it in the known issues category. This absolutely needs to be fixed. The inconsistency is frustrating, and the entire game's balance could hugely benefit from this being fixed.
Has anyone had issues with adding friends? Ex: I play this on PS5 along with a buddy of mine (also on PS5). I have him as a friend on PSN since we’ve been playing together for years. In HD2, he doesn’t show up on my friend list. He shows up in “recently played with”. I try to add him through there and nothing happens. We can play together by going to the PS5 quick menu and selecting “join” but it’s kind of frustrating.
Yes the friends list has been broken across the board since day 1, mine has people listed whom don't even own the game and the people I play with every session don't even show up and or don't get added. And don't even get me started on trying to play with/add PC people, personally I think it should have been the bug they prioritized fixing over nerfs, buffs or anything else considering its a coop game, but hey what do I know.
Game still spawns enemies out of nowhere, loadout bug and friendlist bug is still unfixed. Games crash 4/5 times during extraction and the sickle seemingly got shadow nerfed. The really need to get the game in a playable state ...

You're all missing the biggest part of this patch. Flying bugs and nests are now in the game. I have encountered them on 3 maps already.

I've tried playing 5 different missions on PS5 and crash as soon as I find the super uranium or as soon as any sort of major objective is completed

I've lost countless divers to meteors, I've never seen one hit a bug ever. Not even once.

I have crashed every game I have played post this patch and same for my mate when that is fixed would love to play

They could also stand to improve the pathing the arc takes substantially because it seems like even if your reticle is on the enemy, the arc has trouble finding them if there's even the slightest bit of obstruction or elevation change. Like, I aim at his head but his foot is behind a dead body so therefore my shot misses?
I am playing on PC basically everyday since the game lauch and this month i don't remember the last time the game crashed. Comparing with February that was almost impossible to play, the game is working very well now, at least for me.
good for you i played 10 missions and finished only 1 because 9 of them crashed all this sh**t happen after update

Exact opposite for me. Daily play since launch (when it worked), and I get to finish maybe 1 in every 4-5 games. It's the same thing for the 4 other friends that I play with. All on PC. Often it happens after about 20 minutes in or as we're extracting. Super frustrating . Going to try tonight as well and see what happens with this patch, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Honestly thought the title was sarcasm since this patch, while sounding great, finally made us quit. Good game. Has issues. Got a lot of time out of it tho. We are capped on everything except medals. So kinda lost interrest either way.. BUT the damn flying bugs are a nightmare. We were introduced to them in the worst way possible aswell. The nest was on a hill, is armored, cant be wiped by a single 500kg and whatnot. Sooo annoying, especially while being chased by the usual half douzen hunters and a charger. We later realised the spawn rate of the flyers (which, by the way, can oneshot you, because why wouldnt they) was so insanely high because right after the nest we struggled to find out how to destroy was a second one. Which went down far more easily after you know what you do, but still. The game is inconsistant, tells you nothing, and half of what it tells you is blatant lies and wrong tooltips. Im glad the patch did something for balancing tho, it's not like i hate the game. Im looking forward to checking it out in half a year or so, but i seriously hope they have some mid-term motivation in place by then. Operations are great to get you to play more than a single mission, the week-long community stuff is nice to have.. but we miss something inbetween.

It would be nice if they added a mech pickup feature if you run out of ammo but the mech is still alive, which would allow you to call it again after some time

i noticed at 2:53 you missed a very well placed shot and it's because the anti material rifle has a bug where the actual reticle is in the top left side of the center reticle. you can see it in one of standard aces videos
RIP to all the stealth runs ruined by this bug.
I know ive had many die to this. Then again i uninstalled cause of the patrol spawn rates but ima install it again and see how it works

I've been dealing with all the small and annoying glitches they havnt fixed or even addressed, but the crashed and disconnects have been brutal since the first balance patch. No problems ever before that patch for me. Now its atleast 2-3 disconnects every time I sit down to play the game
Getting a lot more microstuttering during gameplay... it seems like every single time they release a "patch" they mess up the performance of an already middling performing game. I didn't think that it was possible to constantly go backwards but Arrowhead is proving me wrong with each and every "balancing" patch that they shit out.
Well I'm glad they fixed the mech rocket bug that was really annoying, but I never had a issue with the environmentals except for the fire tornadoes and having a inordinate amount of them tracking me at any given point, so if those got cut down a bit than I'd welcome it.
However the one thing I'd really wish they would prioritize fixing is the friends list, which has been broken since day 1 and not being able to get into games with PC homies is a real let down, while there is a workaround for PS5 friends, but it does kinda suck having to play a game of roulette trying to figure out which one of us everybody can join on a given day.
I never even thought to try melee in a mech with guns-for-arms lol. Though I never think about melee anyways, that's what the machine pistol is for.
Literally joined a diff 7 game with full squad. The planet was dark as hell and I couldn't see anything, and then we proceeded to get butt fucked by 100+ shriekers and even more hunters. Love the new patch!
the exosuit uses the basegame button layout, so if you remapped it, it is still F for melee, BUT afaik if you use the remmapped key while in the suit even F doesn't work.
Best part was, that bug has been here since they released the mechs, they really can not fix anything.

Yeah same here. It’s a pain. I’ve been able to friend people on cross-platform, but only once and we were in a game together, i.e., on the same server; but I can’t play with my brother whom I convinced to buy the game so we could play together.
I recommend someone else host for you and your friend as I have no trouble playing with ps5 players but maybe I got lucky
The flying bugs are a nightmare and something is buggered in their implementation. I got killed in one hit whilst sitting in a newly-arrived mech.

You did have the melee option, it's just all mechs were damaged on drop if your host was running at a high fps. You can see the sparks. I toggle to low fps when I'm dropping a mech to avoid it as host

You can now stomp at faster speed and longer reach and even damage you can stomp still
Problem I had now that they fix rocket blowing us up is that you actually need to calculate and adjust where you shoot since it doesn’t follow reticle as well as before
And there is a small chance you can still blow yourself up with rocket
I can't even add same platform friends unless I add them on steam.
Thank god it seemed like every time I called in a Mech a meteor shower would come in and destroy it.
I think the direction is good, though unfortunately the planetary modifiers changes don't hit what I wanted most. The environmental ones are annoying, the ones that affect my strategems make me not want to play. I am desperately hoping they end up tying those to PoIs on map so you can do something about them mid-mission. Spore Spewers, Stalker Nests, and Strategem Jammers are some of my favorite things to encounter simply because handling them actually makes a positive difference.
Anyone else get the 710 fuel extract bug? I just played the mission and the ship wouldn’t come down to fuel up. Had to back out of the mission.
i was worried when they nerfed the railgun but reducing heavy spawns and patrols making EAT and recoiless viable against chargers fixing the environmental stuff it all makes me hopeful for the future of helldivers 2

I have no clue why but me and my friend crashed 4 times yesterday individually before we stopped. I’ve had maybe only a couple random ones throughout playing but the game was completely freezing on us. Not sure if it’s happening to anyone else?
This patch sucks, been crashing so much and spawn rates are definitely not fixed. Seem worse.
Excited for fixes but I would like a balance patch. Keep up the good work of the stress testing to promote awareness of the weapons.
There are a couple of things that need to be addressed.
1) The load out, voice and emote rest
2) PS5 boot up issue. (The PlayStation studios & Arrowhead screens do not show up. It's just a black screen until the intro video.)
3) Matchmaking. I got the game 2 weeks after it came out and I've had issues getting into games ever since. When I can connect to a game it's blast.
4) This came after the last update the screen tearing that goes on during the loading sequences is crazy
5) The primary weapons need some serious buffs. Even with the "nerf" the breaker is still primary in the game. The rifles needs love.

Has anyone else experienced the issue where picking up medals on mission would cause the character to freeze standing still? You can still turn, just can't move for ~20-30 seconds. I don't know where to report issues, but I've been able to reproduce that one a number of times
It's been a known issue for the past few versions, still not fixed yet.

The only modifiers that were an issue is the fire tornados, meteor shower has a big spot light if you're about to get crushed. 🤷

My experience, crash , crash, DC, DC, Crash, Exit ship parked its self under the floor. And helldivers running about with no model, just a helmet and gun. PC, great job guys !!!! That said, I love this game, they'll fix it.

They added shriekers now. Flying enemies. They are a fun addition but their nests, which are giant trees that look like spore trees, have too much HP in my opinion. They take 2 rockets from a recoilless rifle to destroy. Whereas the spore trees, which are bigger and thicker, only take 1 rocket. I think they should lower the HP of the shrieker nests.
I really hope they’ll fix the social bugs. My brother and I can’t even see my fiancée on our friend list at all. Tried friend codes, everything. They can’t even accept our friend requests. It’s silly
game crashing and kicking at end of extraction - ending not having any samples and exp - is fix that ppl need not some makeups

First 'balance' patch made the game annoying with mob spawns, this one has made it even worse.
Have they fixed the bug that prevents players from being reinforced sometimes?
Id rather deal with the mech missle bug than their fix. They fixed it by moving the point the missle comes out of slightly left, so often (idk why it goes to reticle sometimes, but not usually) you miss targets because it goes way left. My buddy sqid his were going way high.
Ok good, I'm not the only one seeing tons of crashes.
Also, it seems like they fixed the exploit(?) where you could mouse over unvisited PoIs on the map and the "Minor point of interest" text would show up, allowing you to easily find every PoI on the map.
Is that a bug or the benefit of scout armor? I was under the impression the scout armor give that perk because it doesn’t happen in other armor
@@bobspalding2477 I've been using the scout armor in the new patch and it's not working anymore. I'm pretty sure I could do it in other armors before this patch as well.
The only intended map interaction with the scout armor is seeing enemy presence around your pings, afaik.
Shame about the fire tornados. Hellmire is legit beautiful. If be happy with twice the fire
the only problem with the fire tornados was they were homing missiles fallowing you and cornering you, if they made their pathing random they can keep how many showed up.

For the meteors you can see the light were they drop it's easy to escape and they clean the enemies for you 🤷🏻♂️

All the update did was make my game crash halfway through missions.
Just rolling shit out without checking if it works is going to kill this game, it still has the good will of the community but not if every single update causes more issues than it fixed. Like the mech blowing itself up when you try to shoot while turning is something that should be fixed BEFORE it's even released

Did they fix the atromonical amount of game crashes? Mine has crashed close to 60+ times. It's unplayable and I still managed to hit level 50. I stopped until this is fixed and the last update made it worse.
Melee stomp on mech still only works with the default key 'f'.
Sucks for me since I'm left handed and rebound it to 'h'.
Headlights are hard-bound to 'x'...nbd there since you just leave them on or off.
The melee stomp on mech needs to honor the remapped melee key.

The thing that concerns me most is that they have never mentioned the extra damage to bile titans, and sometimes other enemies, caused by PS5 players joining PC players. They don't ever list it in the known issues category. This absolutely needs to be fixed. The inconsistency is frustrating, and the entire game's balance could hugely benefit from this being fixed.

Has anyone had issues with adding friends? Ex: I play this on PS5 along with a buddy of mine (also on PS5). I have him as a friend on PSN since we’ve been playing together for years. In HD2, he doesn’t show up on my friend list. He shows up in “recently played with”. I try to add him through there and nothing happens. We can play together by going to the PS5 quick menu and selecting “join” but it’s kind of frustrating.
Yes the friends list has been broken across the board since day 1, mine has people listed whom don't even own the game and the people I play with every session don't even show up and or don't get added. And don't even get me started on trying to play with/add PC people, personally I think it should have been the bug they prioritized fixing over nerfs, buffs or anything else considering its a coop game, but hey what do I know.
Okay, so it isn't just me who never had melee functionality. Mine also never works and when a friends goes in the exosuit it just works...

Game still spawns enemies out of nowhere, loadout bug and friendlist bug is still unfixed.
Games crash 4/5 times during extraction and the sickle seemingly got shadow nerfed.
The really need to get the game in a playable state ...
