A somewhat surface-level explanation for what's going on here: The game's map is loaded in one huge grid, different parts of the map are allocated to different segments of this grid (This is done in an attempt to compress map data as much as possible, this was very very likely Iwata's doing as he infamously did a similar job to Pokemon Gold/Silver). The Circus Tent room is located on the far right edge of the grid, and due to the shape of the room you can check the area "Outside" the map by squeezing yourself in that wedge as far right as you can (Which is why the glitch sometimes didn't work, it was because Chugga wasn't far enough right). You can do the same glitch in other borders of the map like north of Ness's house in Onett, but this is the only accessible one without glitches. The game is essentially fetching garbage data, some of which accidentally points to ingame actions (Like NPC text or entering/exiting rooms, AKA teleportation) hence the incomprehensible and seemingly infinite mess of possible outcomes.
Viva Reverie The fact that you know all this stuff makes me wonder if we can just agree to blame Water Horse. XD Or that Celestia doll from that Danganrompony thing you did.
Viva Reverie So, could this technically be used as a very inconsistent speedrunning technique? Like could it warp you to literally the end of the game screen or final moment?
Charles Heldebrandt With this glitch you can access the game’s debug menu which can be used to warp to the last sene in the game. For the record, most speeds runs of the game are either glitchless or doesn’t use this glitch, so it isn’t useful in most categories for this game though.
Jeff: How long has he been at that corner? Paula: I don't know but he's been obsessed with it for the past 13 minutes Ness: I WANT TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES!!!!!!!

Good morning! Here's your free copy of the morning newspaper! The front headline says: Famous Lets-Player Chuggaconroy wrong-warps to a random dive bar, discovers new sanctuary, and soft-locks the world! Oh dear. That doesn't sound too great. Well, anyways, have a great day!
In this episode, Ness finds a hole in the space-time continuum, and like any idiot kid, decides to screw around with it. Unintelligible whispers pour into the party's head, and a small box appears in the corner of their eyes, fading in and out of existence. They even begin to hear the voice of a man say some odd things, things such as something being "new" and so on (at one point, when Sanctuary noises began playing, saying that he "found the next sanctuary"). Eventually, Ness and co. experience a vision: they find themselves behind the counter of a bar, but they're stuck. Eventually, they break out and make it to the door. Time seems to slow as they open it, and they are engulfed in neon and they wake in a cold sweat from the floor of the tent, as if nothing ever happened.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE TITLE MEANS WHAT THIS PART IS ABOUT, AND IT EXCITES ME VERY MUCH. I actually have a quick story about it, while playing with the Threed Tent glitch, I actually had an instance where it not only just crashed the game, but it completely FROZE my Wii U system. VC Menu wouldn't pop up, home button didn't work, even holding the power button on my Gamepad AND the console itself didn't work, I had to literally unplug my console to get it working again. It's a glitch that's capable of going beyond emulation, and that's kind of incredible.
This is why I love Chuggaa's videos. Any other LPer would have cleared the third sactuary and moved right on to the desert. Instead, he spends two episodes showing off weird, funny stuff around the previous towns. Whenever you watch a Chuggaaconroy series, you are going to learn every little detail of the game.

From what I can tell, this glitch is called undefined behavior. Basically, the code is accessing the wrong parts of memory and executing those instead of what it is supposed to do. When this happens, the game could theoretically do ANYTHING. It is theoretically possible for it to permanently corrupt the entire game, not just the save file. I would only recommend doing this if you are using a virtual console with restore points.
The way you're describing this has me thinking this glitch is a game version of a grey goo event with the potential irreparable damage you can do to it.
It can permanently damage your whole game. I had one where I tried to press reset instead of reloading my restore point, and all my save files were gone, and I couldn’t make a new game without it crashing on a black screen after pressing yep.
Chugga has discovered a new creepypasta. "One day, a young man named Emile was going about his usual day playing hour after hour of Earthbound on the Super Nintendo. But little did he know that things would never be the same again upon a visit to the circus tent in Threed. For whatever reason, he forced Ness, the main character, to fervently check a specific corner in the room. Emile was sent through textbox after textbox of seemingly-endless characters. Suddenly, the dialogue box entered an out-of-bounds plane of existence. Suddenly, Emile found himself *IN the game!* He found himself in a strange room that appeared to be a small tavern. He stood behind the counter and tried speaking to the bartender... no response. An eerie, distorted version of _The Star-Spangled Banner_ was echoing throughout the ambience. Emile managed to wriggle his way past a large woman who almost barred him from leaving his spot. He made it to the door, but the door wouldn't budge. He tried and he tried, but despite how fruitless it seemed, Emile knew he was making some sort of progress. Just when Emile was about to give up, he gave the door one last, hearty shove! The door made a clicking sound on contact, but suddenly-- *S M A A a a s h ! !* Emile felt a sharp pain on the back of his head. Did somebody just attack him? Emile collapsed... A voice whispered out to him: 'Welcome to Fivesville.' Emile woke up, back in his room; back in the real world... but something was amiss. It was dark outside despite it was slightly past noon. Emile's monitor suddenly turned on, depicting a bloodied, hyper-realistic image of Ness with his eyes sewn shut. Suddenly, a dialogue box appeared, prompting Emile with a selection of only one option: Pray."
Can we appreciate the fact that Emile is insanely generous and too kind he gave his friends Stephen and mal both there own Nintendo switches and accessories for it.
“Picky eating his mattress to get by” reminds me of that scene in Ed Edd n’ Eddy where Double D walks in on Ed eating his mattress, now I’m picturing Ness saying “GOOD LORD MAN!” as it cuts to Picky stuffing his face with his mattress

one has ever understood the contents because it's written in an unusual style with unusual characters."
Episode 22, he spends 22 minutes trying to break one of his favorite games, and manages to startle me about 22 times... Stuff like this is why Chugga is my favorite RUclipsr...
Bet ya expected a P pun, yea? That's qute

Vinesauce and Chugga crossover when
Hey, if a Vinesauce/Boundary Break crossover can happen, maybe...
Ness had a vision of him sitting in the corner of a tent.
I can hear the RAM crying from here.
Those glitches were nice and all... but that last one broke the *bar* .
And also proceeded to nuke the game
Guess what... IN JAPAN...
This episode could have been called "Mind Your "P"s and "Q"s". :D

Son of a Glitchfest Break with solo guest Chuggaaconroy...
This episode was... in tents.
I rate it TENT out ten. also given how the tent is likely some sort of cloth I guess you could say emile broke through the FABRIC of reality...
and that's all the material I have for now.
This was a very inTEAResting episode
These puns are really CRAFTY xD

Love the way you said "Oh my god, it's making music" like a dad hearing his child's first words =D
Won’t you come closer and cry ancient stone tablets
I thought is was Jons job to break the game?
Joe John id say jon’s job is to break games accidentally.
Chris Wolfe true unless it’s a sonic game.
And then ness apeared to me with HYPER-REALISTIC BLOOD
AND THEN MY SKIN STARTED MELTINF ANF I SCREAMED BUT NOBPDY HEARD ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tobbysas the screaming was HYPER REALISTIC!!!
Jumpscare warning 20:58
Really?
I think the spooky part is that when the screen freaks out you can kinda hear chugga say "Holy Fuck"
ya i heard that to
The jumpscare is Chugga screaming in your ear
shadowkirbya42 pretty sure he said “frick”.
All we need is hyper realistic blood and we have a creepypasta ready for your entertainment

Can someone make a PuyoPuyo Tetris mod and replace Pi's voice lines with Chuggaa saying P over and over?
Terravin That's exactly what I was thinking!
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN AND THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!
Pi isn't the name.
O is.
Pi is the sound O makes.
But Sega loves confusing people like that.
Sure I will because I have nothing better to do

I feel like ProtonJon must've visited that tent at least once in his life
Jon might actually live there, gien how he has a tendancy to just break games without trying. Jon /is/ the tent corner.
can we have that entire gitch section on the EarthBound Wiki
Man, I do not mind Chugga "faffing" one bit.
Emile from Chuggasauce: Earthbound Corruptions
I'd love to see him corrupt games with the RTC. I can't even imagine the reactions he'd have.
Whenever Ness checks the corner, I like to imagine him lifting up the curtain and glimpsing into an alternate reality with the hint guy just floating there saying his thing.
Then putting the curtain down, cheering again, and a post it note saying noting wrong here
Would I enter a random circus tent? Definitely no, infact I wouldn't enter any random tents at all if it's not my or from someone I don't know...
John Hernandez I'm your 100th Like.
Jerry Gose well that's special. :)
John Hernandez Isn't it! :)

That's a pretty nice beat.
just add lyrics
It’s 5/4 interestingly enough
Now we’re getting Onett!
Lol.
Emile doing his Proton Jon impersonation. :P
Chuggaa's laugh always make my day!
Beybladerocx2 Hearing stuff like this always makes mine! Glad you enjoyed it and didn't find something like this boring.
And they said Giygas was scary...
A cruel tent
It seems very cool to me
Seems kinda _BOOGEY_ to me.
The Imagisphere. Uh oh
redfox29662 de-evolution spray only exists in the TCG
WTF OMG YOU TOTALLY NEED TO DO MORE OF THIS OFF-SCREEN AND START PUTTING THIS IN THE END REEL WITH ANY INTERESTING RESULTS
So when can we expect Chuggaa's new album Font Test to drop?
Sometime in 20XX, probably. Not entirely sure
Huh? What do you mean this ain't a Vinesauce corruption stream?
This episode feels like something straight out of a Proton Jon stream/let’s play.

Holy crap Chugga managed to get to fourside without having to go through the desert!
SPEEDRUNNING TACTICS!
With all the glitch related antics, I'm surprised Emile didn't summon W.D Gaster!!!
18:15 Wow Chuggaa, you found ProtonJon's Sanctuary!
Someone sat around refreshing the page until the video came up for the sole reason of giving the video a dislike. Really?!
Swift4Sweeper thats some dedication to spite, could be impressive if it wasnt directed at the national treasure that is chugga.
Tea Master Exactly, I have found my dislike on videos I didn't actually want to dislike a lot of times.
I feel you. I don't give videos dislikes. However, this is the first Chugga video I won't like. I never dislike a video without watching it though. It's petty.
They might have disliked for other reasons not just to dislike
How about a nice session of glitch?

Majin WilfredCthulu I would rather chuck a sheep toy
Alex Chuoy I apparently got: Chagacan roy?
With all the peas, I was hoping for some more vegetable variety.
Paula: Jeff, I think you need to have a talk with Ness
Jeff: No, let’s pretend it didn’t happen
Can't wait for the techie video where someone explains the glitch in detail and where it checks in the ram for the garbage text.
11:44 Chugga's hints for new LP's are getting really elaborate. Can't wait for the new Zelda LP!
I once had the tent give me text that is related to the final battle against giygas.
Apparently giygas hid in a tent the whole time.
Are we not going to talk about the fact that the bar is playing a warped portion of The Star-Spangled Banner?
10:40 In today's episode Chugga learned how to speak short sentences in Pikachu, The End.
I don't know why but glitchy things scare the hell out of me (unless it's funny)
It's more scary than a horror game...
The letter of the day is: “ *Q* “
When Emile said "I FOUND THE NEXT SANCTUARY GUYS!" I can just imagine Ness yelling that to Paula and Jeff, and Paula whispers to Jeff something like "What in the world is he yelling about?" and Jeff just shrugs and they go back to being mute for the next couple of episodes.
I've been doing this with you, and all I've been getting are extra Bicycles... I have four of them now! And on an unrelated note, I named Jeff "Chuga" (one G since there wasn't room for two) after the one and only Chugaconroy! I'm playing the Mother 2 Perfect edition hack!
