Jeff I love the way that you explain your drywasher your backpack and all the other equipment that you use it's so easy to follow thank you very much for your information and tips on running a dry washer
Well Jeff & Slim, again you hit it with some great information as I never seen a Falcon MD20 for detecting or identifying gold from iron so I just bid on one from e-Bay I sure hope I get it . May you always find gold in you pans
Wow, about 2 weeks ago I somehow stumbled upon your videos, and now I can't stop watching them! Very entertaining and informative. You've got a lot of charisma. Thanks for your efforts!
Hey Jeff. Love all your videos! Been watching them for a year now. Im new to prospecting. Just got a super sluice pan, sniffer bottle n stuff. Making a sluice box now. I got some concentrates from Gold hog. And just bought Slims!!! Cant wait! Thank you Jeff! Dan from Missouri.
Jeff, as always you are the man.. We have the 140 and it is just the right size for us. Thanks for your great tips. It is always good to refresh. Going out next Wednesday. Thanks again..
Great video, Jeff :-) Just got back from my 1st trip with a K151 ... Yep! You're right! I was working flat out to keep up with that monster!! Came home with a nice little parcel of gold from an area similar to the one you're working in the vid, but in Aust :-)
I've been getting all excited watching all of your videos wanting to find some shiny myself. My old treasure tracker 3000 isn't very good but I found a target and started digging in my front yard. The first few pans had screws and staples, a bunch of black sand, and the ground was really hard packed. I thought if there's any gold in there it's under the black sand so I poured the muddy water out of my wash tub into the hole to let it soak in so I could dig into it. I got a few scoops out of the hole into my pan, filled it with water, and started breaking up the clumps just like you showed me. And yeah, it was record breaking hot in the hottest part of the day, and yeah, I got wet! As I was breaking up the clumps, I felt something very familiar and sure enough, I found 4 nice sized pieces of native American pottery. I didn't hurt them with my shovel and was worried about digging in there with my shovel but I was too curious so 3 pans later I got 24 pieces of pottery out of a hole the size of a basketball. It's got me all excited to find out what else is in this yard but I'm no archeologist so I contacted a museum to find out what should be done. I'm pretty sure I didn't just get lucky and found it all in a basketball sized hole in my yard. It ain't shiny but it's still treasure. I've got an artifact mine! YEEEEEEE HAAAAAAW!
wow Brian, good job my friend and who knows what you are about to unearth , make sure you don't sign away your rights to it and maybe even get legal advice so they can't take it away from you.
At first I was disappointed cause I read to fast and thought the title said, "How to get more gold from your dishwasher". Thanks for the great work you and Slim do, time for me to load the dishwasher, bye...
Loads of great drywasher operating tips. Was especially surprised when you mentioned hearing protection. Lose your hearing and you won't hear Slim or claim jumpers sneaking up on you to steal your gold and claim. Use it or loose it. So C'mon Lets Go!!!
Great Video guys ! I was wondering on how much moisture a dry blower can effectively operate with... I was thinking of running the top layers of some small mullock heaps from river lead mining through one... and as its not desert where I am ( Vic Golden Triangle, Australia ) the ground isn't totally dry... thanks guys Ant
***** Well thanks there Girls we really appreciate the comments and maybe one day we can have you show us that good spots to hunt. Cheers. Jeff and Slim
Hi Jeff, Thanks for this lesson. I have never found much gold with my dry washer and had lost interest in it till now, i really appreciate the tips. Guess i will have to plan a trip out to the desert in hopes to find some gold as the ground drys out around here. Something i had seen before too was to lay out a tarp and let the soil dry on it before running it through the washer. Anyway, thanks for making the video, that was cool. Bob
Hi Bob , thats too bad we find a lot with ours but you never know where the next Honey Ho;e might be. I have seen people doing that too but wasn't sure if we should mention it due to the time it takes to dry it and if you leave it is free dirt for someone else. Thanks for the comments and glad you like the vids. Jeff
Hi Jeff, I just noticed something about your panning setup - did you quit using the 2 - two by four pieces of wood under your panning tub, and if so did you find out it doesn't make any difference whether you use them or not, or did you forget the wood at home? Just curious as if they aren't necessary I'm going to stop toting them around too!!! Thanks for the GREAT prospecting vids!!! Keep em coming!!!
Found gold around Barstow in a dry wash. Did a few pans at home and had color in every pan...stopped immediately when I noticed fine gold flying out during the first moments of stratifying. HEAVY black sand making it difficult. I'm finding wire gold even!
Great video Jeff! I get a kick out of it when you get winded. I cant imagine how tiring doing your video's must be. I get winded just talking normal when I do one lol
***** Hi Jeff, Hey partner I like your videos so much that I would like to offer the use of my new Garrett ATX for an up and coming video. I'm in Simi Valley, CA Interested?
Thanks so much for this episode Jeff. Lot's of great knowledge in here. One question. I have a 140 bellows type. Can it be adapted to use air? I know you need the offset weight fan thingy to do it. Does Keene sell an adapter kit of some kind?
Would you possibly make a video including all the steps it takes you to get from wanting to find gold to showing placer color in your pan in a new Arizona desert area using a drywasher? From the beginning research like certain websites to find historical information about old claims ie. "thediggins" or what to look for on a topo map. Then prospecting the area for the right geology and physical features like creek bends, bedrock outcroppings, etc. Then to sampling, setup, production and cleanup. I know you probably have a lot of these things in other specific videos but it would be great to see the entire process. I'm a member of GPAA and Desert Gold Diggers and a southern AZ video would be terrific!! oh btw I think I saw you on Ancient Aliens. good stuff way to go!!
Kate I'd like to see the size of the fines. My highbanker gets the finest of the fines. Almost microscopic. I won't say it gets it all since bigger material could bump some out or the water could be running too dirty, but it catches more for sure than going dry. Of course running dry you can run more material faster. Now I'm using a hopper on my sluice. So now even running more material than I did before. After all it's about the amount run. Lol
Hi Jeff Williams I get a lot of information on your you tube channel. I have a few question about the drywasher as I am about to build one. I am having to hard time finding the Max and Min angle for the hopper my guess ( 60 deg to 30 deg and the right dead air space I am using 3/4" riffle with a 3/16 air space under the riffles. I would like to know if that is about right thank you for your help
william Scarborough those numbers sound about right but test it with some lead shot first and check your recovery with it to make sure, they can be a little tricky. Jeff and Slim
Another thoroughly enjoyable video Jeff, I have the bug for sure. Going to go do some prospecting here in Aussie SOON! Getting as many tips from you before I finally do it! :)
I think you forgot to put the plug back in during one of the cleanups (9:25). Never used a dry washer but have seen what I thought was a lot of videos. I think this is the best of all of them showing the "How". Very good job! I mine in Washington state and haven't done any of the dry washing or desert mining yet. One of these days maybe!
Bill Longland Not a big deal. I make videos too and just hate it when I spot something I missed (happens to me way too often!). Jeff does such a good job on his videos and this one's just super!
hey Jeff I know you try a hole lot of different equipment to find the best so I was wondering would you be willing to sell any of the equipment you don't use. THANKS your friend keep the videos coming
howdy their jeff glad you didint take me for a claimjumper.when slim gets back from vacation have him pull lookout duty.thanks for all them tips mucho graices mi amigo!
Hi Jeff, have to say your videos are great! Thanks for showing us all your tips and tricks. Jeff, I live in the mountains of southern California and I have a large stream that runs through my property....water only runs through when it is raining up here....there are lots of granite boulders and DG in the bed.....should I dig out the materials next to and under the boulders? Thanks so much and keep up the good work.
Hi Greg, thanks for the comments, always good to hear them. now if the creek is dry try bedrock sniping for the easy Gold ( if it is there ) and dig on the downstream side behind and under the boulders. Be careful of the larger ones so as not to under mine them and cause problems. Jeff
Once again Jeff. Another entertaining and educational video. One thing I still don't have is a drywasher. Someday I will, but in the meantime I'll keep sluicing. So that brings up the question. Drywashing allows you to run more material. While sluicing allows you to get the fines. (My opinion). So which is better to use? Example of this. In a hole I've been working I get roughly 10 to 30 pieces of gold. Ranging from pickers to very fine pieces. My friend ran his through a drywasher. He only got about 5 pieces. I'm certain he lost some gold since I got about 6x what he got (same hole). I know it's possible that he just might have only got that amount but I feel he should've gotten about the same amount as me. Since what I get is pretty consistent. So is the wet sluice the better machine (Tool) to use?
Hi Garret. I use the GoldHog stacker highbanker in winter! I am using the dry washer in summer (because there's little water available in Aust goldfields in summer) You ought to see the fines that the dry washer gets!! Not much different to the best of the best in highbankers!! Checking your header pile is a "must" though ... just in case of BIG nuggets!!
Hi Garret , the best method for Gold recovery will always be water but your friend should have gotten more Gold. If the soil is to damp or the machine is not set up right you can loose a lot of Gold through a Drywasher. Jeff
We will be in Arizona in September with my filming crew, I hope I can find you for a day and shoot a video for my youtube viewers! Excellent Job again Jeff! IndianaGoldHunter
Hi Floyd, we test panned the area first and then determined where the concentrations of Gold was the most then out of those areas we Drywashed this one. Jeff
Actually I watched that video several times and I really liked the simplicity of it and the Gold he got from was very nice too. The hand crank style machines are great if you need something light and compact but the downside is the volume of material is reduced as compared to its motorized counterparts Jeff
On my last outing a guy who was drywashing told us to go through his tailings. We grabbed about 14 gallons of dirt. That's all we could get. Since we already got over 100 in the truck. Ran out of buckets. Lol. So I'm waiting to have my buddy run the material to see just how much was left behind. Can't wait to see the GOLD. Hahaha!
Hi Jeff! I'm a truck driver and I get to go all over the USA. I see a lot of places that I think would be a likely source of gold. Can you give me any pointers as to what I should be looking for? Thank you Jeff and Slim, and I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
+Robert Jackson Hi Robert . Streams along the road way in known Gold producing areas is always good and Road cuts through old mining districts can show vein material that the Old Timers might have missed. Jeff and Slim
Not sure but it looks like it might be more cost effective to buy a bottle of goldshlager and pan that instead, after drinking it. Love your videos though.
Great 'How to' for the new Keene 140 Dry Washer owners. I just purchase my K140 last month and I am waiting for the Snowbirds to vacate my house in the Eastern Mohave area so I can take it out and play in the dirt. Great tip on going over the 'Tailing pile' with a VLF detector (I too have the GMT Gold Master). Question: are most of your vids on GPAA claims? Best regards, Al.
+Ask Jeff Williams Thanks Jeff, I have an sdc2300 that should pick up the tiny bits, my smallest piece so far has been a 0.04 of a gram tiny grain of rice shaped nugget :)
mike auld Good question Mike. We always sample our tailing piles for any Gold loss. If it is moist soil we run it twice sometimes but rarely three times.Jeff and Slim
Hello again!!! There's one video that I haven't seen anywhere here on You Tube or on the internet, and that is an instructional video on how to replace the bellows canvas or heavy backpack nylon material, on a puffer type drywasher. I have two old puffers that I need to replace the bellows material on, and am having one ---- of a time trying to figure it out. Maybe you can make a video on this subject sometime along the way. Keep up the GREAT VIDS!!!
hi jeff been watchin all your videos, started prospecting because of you, last year in fact. I live in Elko nevada kinda by you and was curious what made u pick that area. Is it an old wash. Just curious as to how the gold would end up there. Sorry still a rookie. Looking for a little guidance. Great video too.
Hi Daniel thanks for watching and there is Gold up by where you are at. The key is to test pan the area first to get an idea as to what is in the ground and where . We have been to this spot before so I knew there was Gold there. Jeff
That was a great video lesson, don;t have a dry washer, never thought of gettin one but I will now Thanks for all the info,it's like having a live class.you made sure you covered everything. Sorry to have to tell ya though,I did miss Slim lol, figured he would jump outa the hole to take your gold !
Jeff what piece of equipment would you like to get next that you actually thought might really increase your gold recoveries? Something reasonable, not a processing plant like on the TV show Gold Rush. Or don't you have the claims to go larger?
That would be an RP 4 shaker Table. Been wanting one for a while and we have a few spot that produce very fine Gold so we could increase our output . Jeff
very informative video, I do not prefer keene myself, there is a small company here in Phoenix that makes gold mining equipment, and they make an amazing drywasher, they have all replacement parts and they are made much better than most dry washing equipment, I have used many different types of machines but these guys make the best stuff I have seen yet by far. very high quality, if you like I will send you a link you might be interested.
Nice video jeff, how often do you need to do a cleanout on a 151 vs the 140 drywasher? I will be purchaseing a 151 soon. I live in Arizona, and I want to move some serious dirt!
Hi Michael :-) I ran my 151 for the first time recently, and I did my clean-ups about every 30-45mins. I worked hard though ... that thing is a monster!!
Great video Jeff, one of your best! You got me revved up for the weekend. Tucson Gem and Mineral Show today and Gold Basin, AZ tomorrow. I'm going to get that gold and maybe a meteorite too!
Gold Basin I know you will get something out there . That's my old stomping grounds. I remember a 32 oz. nugget coming out of there. YEEHAW now I am all fired up so C'mon lets go. Jeff
That looks like a massive hole you dug , must of been hard work in that hot sun . I think ill just stick to the climate here in NZ , its much easyer to work in .
Wow that's a tough one . I would love to Dredge Calif. Idaho,Oregon and Wash.,but love the Deserts of Nevada and Arizona so I will have to get back to you in that. Jeff
Jeff I you are a hoot I don't even look for gold I just watch your video's to get a laugh, man really like your shows, I just might start looking for gold, here in the foothills of the mountains I NC. there are bunches of creeks to search, might just get out and search some of them, is there any rock to look for in a creek that would give an idea where to look, we have lots of just old red dirt around here, what about where there is gray clay in the creek bank, well keep on making videos have a good day...
Hi Jeff, I watch your videos all the time...The character you play is very addictive to watch and I have no idea why...so well done for that :) I have a question....why do you look for Quartz when you want to find gold?
Thanks Stephen, actually Gold can be found without quartz but it can be a good indicator especially if there is heavy iron staining on it or with iron in the quartz. In the Motherload country ( Calf. ) Gold and quartz travel together due to the nature of the deposit. Both were gases and as they reached the earths surface cooled to solidify and form together. Jeff
sdbentham why yes we are . The first thing is always the research. After that a good Gold pan . You must get very familiar with it because it will be your best friend to sample for Gold. Jeff and Slim
Jeff, glad you mentioned ear protection. Please brother, use it. Please man. I run a wetsaw all day... I wouldnt work without ear plugs... wear em for a few days and you will literally feel pain when you dont... As your fond brother, i would really appreciate you wearing earplugs.. So cmon! Let's go!!!!
Hey Jeff, how long does it take you to get an ounce of gold doing this method? I can imagine it's a pretty large undertaking but the pride you get from all that hard work has to be priceless. Great Video as always man!
Nice Job as always Jeff! Learned a bit on this one ;) Got a question for you- what's the most gold you guys have pulled out in one day on your vids? ;)
Now that's a good question. Looking back I would say that one time in AZ we stumbled over a 2 oz quartz and Gold specimen. Beautiful piece. Something you would never sell or crush. Jeff
did you leave slim back at the cave today for trying to shoot you last time lol keep the videos coming jeff i am looking in to prospecting for gold here in the uk but will leave it till warmer dryer weather about 20 days of rain so far i hate rain
Jeff - Thanks for the detailed info. Many a Prospector won't share any of their knowledge. You allow someone to be more confident in their prospecting if we can follow your techniques. PS - Slim was absolutely NO HELP on this show. I guess that's where they got the term "Lazy Bones".
Hi Vince it is our pleasure to help out our fellow prospectors. I know what it is like to have to find out info the hard way and we like helping out so it makes it fun again. Jeff
been watching Jeff for hours the last two days I am really enjoying this. he does a good job at keeping it light hearted and fun
Thanks Dennis tha'ts what we like to hear. Jeff

It shows you think about the video even before you make it (and creativity)
you got a like from me
Frederick Barnes Thanks Frederick we try to make them fun to watch and honestly Slim is the one behind the vids.

Jeff, I can't seem to find an Echo 210 leaf blower. Would it be okay to have one that produced higher wind speed and higher CFM?
JUST bought a new drywasher on ebay! Now I need a leaf blower. Thanks as always for the great video! I'll follow your advice.
MrMarinaca Echo 210 is a good motor. Ebay should have them.
Jeff and Slim
Very kool Jeff. As always your videos are awesome.. Thanks for putting this one out there..

Not sure if the conversion would work . You would have a few mods to install but it could work . Jeff

Youre always reminding everybody to save, and check the material that doesnt make it through the screen, but how often do you find nuggets?
every so often you come across a small nugget that is encased in Caliche that keeps it from passing through the screen. Jeff

An odd ball question if I may...
Why don't you use extra length on your dry washer?
+Tom Alexander Hi Tom , not sure what you mean?
Jeff and Slim
+Ask Jeff Williams
Extra riffle tray. More feet.
But then, I guess you wouldn't need it if all your cons are in first Three rippled?
So is the wet sluice the better machine
(Tool) to use?
Hi Dennis just let us know where and we will try to fit it in with our schedule . Jeff
I appreciate the invite, but I will be in Yellowwood/Morgan Monroe State Forest with the central Indiana gpaa chapter that weekend shooting a video
I would love to go, but I wont be able to get out of work next week
Great episode Jeff!
Thanks David, glad you liked it. Jeff
Another great vid, HD is lookin' fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
our pleasure, really glad you liked it. Jeff
Another GREAT video my friend! Looking forward to hangin' with ya soon!
Got your call but was tied up so I will see ya soon. Jeff
When at the end there is black sand in the pan, you can use a magnet to remove black sand?
Jeff how did you pick the spot you dug in? learned lots of good tips.
Hi Floyd, we test panned the area first and then determined where the concentrations of Gold was the most then out of those areas we Drywashed this one. Jeff
What are your thoughts on the hand crank bellows washers and the more primitive washer in the video "Mario's dry washer" ?
Hahaha!
Ya me too. Jeff
Love your videos though.
lol brilliant
No weight to the gold in the bottle..
But after you drink it
You don't care
😀 lol....
I need more! when is the next vid?
Too funny buddy!
Thanks herby375, there on there way. Jeff
Jeff. Have you made a video (that maybe I have not located), or have an opinion the the "Blue Bowl". Good or bad?
Hi Rob that is next on our list and yes I like using it for very fine Gold. Jeff
Great! As with all your videos, I look forward to seeing what you have to say
Hi Al actually we film on several claims and private land as well. Jeff
Another good one Jeff, thanks mate.
our pleasure Walter. Jeff
Hey cool watch mate, but just a question why a VLF detector and not a PI, any reason for that?
+Aidan Hommelhoff you can use a PI on it but for the small specimens a VLF might pick it up easier and they are a little cheaper too.
Jeff and Slim
+Ask Jeff Williams Thanks Jeff, I have an sdc2300 that should pick up the tiny bits, my smallest piece so far has been a 0.04 of a gram tiny grain of rice shaped nugget :)
Jeff, if you are just starting, out should you run through your exit pile of dirt a second time ,in case you missed some gold, thanks mike
mike auld Good question Mike. We always sample our tailing piles for any Gold loss. If it is moist soil we run it twice sometimes but rarely three times.Jeff and Slim
Thank Jeff ,going prospecting tomorrow :)
Good Luck and bring home the shiney. Don't forget to do the Gold Dance ( Walter Huston ) when you find it too. Jeff
Jeff
TV documentaries/shows will be very fine - a lot of perons will watch them !!!!!!
Question, when you find shiny is it 24k gold , 18k, 14k ?
about 18k
Great Vid... Loads of great tips :-) Thanks
our pleasure Darryl. Jeff
That was a great video lesson, don;t have a dry washer, never thought of gettin one but I will now
Thanks for all the info,it's like having a live class.you made sure you covered everything. Sorry to have to tell ya though,I did miss Slim lol, figured he would jump outa the hole to take your gold !
I left him back at camp cause he has to get his beauty sleep but he should be ready to go on the next trip. Jeff
Were do you buy a golding pan and you should make a video in a creek plz reply
Jeff what piece of equipment would you like to get next that you actually thought might really increase your gold recoveries? Something reasonable, not a processing plant like on the TV show Gold Rush. Or don't you have the claims to go larger?
That would be an RP 4 shaker Table. Been wanting one for a while and we have a few spot that produce very fine Gold so we could increase our output . Jeff
Time to get some gold.
Now your talking. Jeff
Hey Jeff ; when you classify your material why do you use 3/8 to 1/2 inch and not something finer ?thanks joe
We have a good idea of the size of the Gold in this area (small nuggets and pickers) so we use that size screen . Jeff
***** Thanks ,Love your video's keep them coming
Thanks and you betcha. Jeff
While stratifying fines you can hear the weight of heavies on the bottom of the pan.
very informative video, I do not prefer keene myself, there is a small company here in Phoenix that makes gold mining equipment, and they make an amazing drywasher, they have all replacement parts and they are made much better than most dry washing equipment, I have used many different types of machines but these guys make the best stuff I have seen yet by far. very high quality, if you like I will send you a link you might be interested.
Hi Ryan yes please do. We are always curious to test out new equipment for all the Gold miners out there. jeff
Nice video jeff, how often do you need to do a cleanout on a 151 vs the 140 drywasher? I will be purchaseing a 151 soon. I live in Arizona, and I want to move some serious dirt!
I would start at every 1/2 hour for heavy black sand and 3 guys moving dirt. Jeff
***** Thanks jeff im gonna go and get some gold!
Now your talking Sooooooooooo......
C"MON LETS GO !!!!! Jeff
I think ill just stick to the climate here in NZ , its much easyer to work in .
so if you could goldmine any place in the continental United States, where would you go? what type of terrain/climate do you prefer?
Wow that's a tough one . I would love to Dredge Calif. Idaho,Oregon and Wash.,but love the Deserts of Nevada and Arizona so I will have to get back to you in that. Jeff
That seems like a lot of work for such a little bit of gold. I hope you found a nugget in there somewhere.
T H there is some Good Gold there but it is spotty.
Jeff and Slim
Jeff I you are a hoot I don't even look for gold I just watch your video's to get a laugh, man really like your shows, I just might start looking for gold, here in the foothills of the mountains I NC. there are bunches of creeks to search, might just get out and search some of them, is there any rock to look for in a creek that would give an idea where to look, we have lots of just old red dirt around here, what about where there is gray clay in the creek bank, well keep on making videos have a good day...
Great video Jeff. Best wishes brother.
Thanks Metal4Detecting. Jeff
How deep do you dig before you start running dirt?
Lol... I thought your Title said "How To get Gold from your Diswasher"...LOL. Where's my glasses?
Hi jeff.! This is the 3rd time I watched this video. I like it. It's Great.!
Stanley Stalvey Thank, glad to hear it.
Jeff and Slim
cool, as always Jeff.
Thanks stonewall ray. Jeff
Jeff
I wish that I had your energy and know how.
hi jeff, im jackson im 7. are you part of the southern nevada gold search club? can you recommend some items i need to began looking for gold
.
sdbentham why yes we are . The first thing is always the research. After that a good Gold pan . You must get very familiar with it because it will be your best friend to sample for Gold.
Jeff and Slim
Awesome video Jeff once again , wecant dry wash in scotland inless we are on pvt ground but it was great to see how it was done ..
Thanks for the comments too bad about your area. Too bad about your area being pt ground. You can always come out West and strike it rich YEEHAW. Jeff
one day i might just tell you im coming for a holiday , an you can take me out an say c`on lets get some GOLDDD....
That's a deal then. I let Slim know he likes going out looking for Gold too. Jeff
That was awesome. Thank you so much!
Thanks for that and you bet I will. Thanks. Jeff
You should start a company taking people out prospecting for gold, if I was out your way I'd love to do it!
Hi John we have thought about it but still have to hammer out the logistics of it. Jeff
Wow you are the greatest. Really good flick. As always love your videos. Thanks for the time and effort. I wish I could come a dig with ya.
Thanks Thomas really great compliments there and you never know one day you might find yourself out this way. Jeff
Hey Jeff, how long does it take you to get an ounce of gold doing this method? I can imagine it's a pretty large undertaking but the pride you get from all that hard work has to be priceless. Great Video as always man!
That all depends on the Gold content in the ground but if the Gold is running good a would say about a week. Jeff
Nice Job as always Jeff! Learned a bit on this one ;)
Got a question for you- what's the most gold you guys have pulled out in one day on your vids?
Ya I know can't do much in the rain. Jeff
Jeff
you're the BEST! GOOD JOB
Now that's a fantastic comment. Thanks. Jeff
