Have you ever worked with Sulfide ore and do you have a better way to get the Gold out of it. For more vids on getting Gold from Refractory ore watch this video ruclips.net/video/OAqIhL2gJnA/видео.html and smash that like button ....SMASH it HARD !!!!!!
Looks like a good trick for sure to get your sulfides. I have some big chunks of ore that have lots of pyrite in them. What do you think about roasting them before hand so they crush easier?
Sorry I was multi tasking. I was wondering about roasting before crushing to soften the material. Is it a good idea?
I use a 55-gallon drum lid and when it gets glowing red I start sprinkling it on it and it almost instantly vaporizes it
@@KnowlesFamilyGarage yes ...roasting quartz and then soaking them in water always soften them up
@@Askjeffwilliams Thanx Jeff. I think I will give it a go and see what results I get.
more than 10 years subscribed and you still rocking it man very good info we need more jeffs in this planet
thanks

When you say, "Hi everybody! It's your FAVORITE gold miner, prospector AND GEOLOGIST...," you are correct! You are my FAVORITE!!! I enjoy your videos more than any other source. When it comes to learning about gold, you are my #1 choice. Your videos are always on-point and on time! Today's video was exactly what I was wanting to see! I enjoy your humor, format and most of all your knowledge. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE! ...and your time! YOU ARE TRULY AN AMAZING, HARD-WORKING, GENEROUS PERSON! I look forward to meeting you!!! Thank you for ALL that you do!!! I appreciate YOU, Jeff Williams!!!
thanks..... we always love to hear that ....much appreciated

Thanks for the zoom In feature, it’s pretty cool to see those gold in the sulphides under magnification ✌️
Hi Jeff, great video! just one small remark, Iron pyrite doesn't have one iron and one sulfur molecule in it... It has two sulfur for every iron molecule.
thanks and was thinking of Pyrrhotite
Awesome so if Sulphur is removed and leaving iron behind which then becomes magnetic use letharg to capelle great video I like how Jeff explains the geology of this project
Good Show sir! I learned a lot and you kept me engaged! It is hard for me to get thru most youtube videos without cutting out way before the end. But I was engulfed till the very end! Keep the videos coming!
Dr. Jeff, you are my favorite gold geologist in the whole world. 😅
thanks Jon
Hey Jeff Williams. Hello, I'm very happy to see you again. To separate the gold from the pyrite, I powdered the pyrite soil and put it in the microwave. And the gold and iron left in the box. And you are the best teacher who can separate gold from iron. i love you Hashem
thanks Hashem
You sure are a fun educator.
thanks
I read something about this years ago in an old book, that article said something about soaking your sulphides in vinegar, causing the iron to rust, then when you roast, more gold particles are released. Oh, it seems it mentioned something about salt too, this would form a chloride and free up more gold, I surely don't know the chemistry.
Your lessons are very helpful. Lord knows we need them.
Jeff has the best videos. He’s super smart, informative and so quirky, I love him. It’s too bad you can’t really Ask Jeff Williams any questions. 😂
thanks ...yes you can ...whats your question?
In the copper refinery the Au & Ag fell out of the electrolytic cells into a mud. The Au/Ag was all tied up with Se & Te. We would flux it with niter and burn off the Se&Te (sulfur-ish stuff) to get the dore Ag, Our As got squeezed out of the electrolyte. Sb simply came out of solution and clogged the pipes!. Fun stuff, good info dude.
thanks for sharing your knowledge
Hotdog you are reading my mind Jeff ⛏️🤠 Thank you for making this video. God Bless 🙏
we knew you would like this one
Thanks Jeff! That was very educational! I was thinking that was something I would not try and the sheer amount of gold you got changed my mind Using it as one of your tools for getting gold, It may be viable in picked over areas where prospectors are not as familiar with the process.
Another great video Jeff. Its the first time in a week something cleared my mind, we got hammered by Helene and now by Wed we are getting another hurricane. It might be time I head back out to AZ its not looking good here.
thanks and yes come on back to AZ ....that where the Gold is waiting
Jeff, you blow me away with your crazy ways! Where do I go for some gold nugget hunting in the USA? Swinging a metal detector not looking for flower gold, big nuggets.
thanks and we host 3 day tours on the best ground you will ever swing on
What happens to that water? Does it turn acidic? Where and how do you dispose or repurpose it? Thank you.
Hi Jeff thanks for sharing with us your knowledge.keep going with your passion and your good energy !!Cheers to you from Australia.
you betcha my brother ....Cheers mate
Hey Jeff, you should show the different types of pyrite. There are different types. In Idaho there are 4 different types. Some don't know all the different types
yes but we want to show the basics first
There are several types of pyrite, including:
Detrital pyrite: Made up of well-rounded grains that are usually single crystals
Massive pyrite: A chemically stable form of pyrite
Framboidal pyrite: A chemically unstable form of pyrite made up of very small cubic crystals that are not visible to the naked eye
Cathedral pyrite: A rare form of pyrite with prism growths on the cube faces that resemble the pointed windows of a Gothic cathedral
Pyrite sun: A circular disc-shaped concretion of metallic pyrite that forms in the bedding planes of coal deposits
Pyrite is an iron sulfide that is usually found in cubes or pyritohedra, which have 12 five-sided faces. It has a brassy color with a golden sheen and black undertones
Love the show and this type of content..The voice over inserts edits are the best!😂
I have been watching you for a long time. I just came back from a mountain camping church trip. I came back with about 45 lbs of quartz seam with sulpher, pirite, and a lot of grey black powder in it. Some white powder too.
I have tried to pan with no results. I spilled a touch of nitric on it and it madly fizzed. I put a small sample in hcl. It reacted and turned yellow. The quartz and lighter colered material became very chalky soft over night in the hcl.
I dont know what to do. I am a very newby. I will go to this area for morechurch trips at the end of every september. There are 2 gold mines in the area.
be safe with that acids and ...try gravitational separation first ....crush ....screen pan and inspect
I own an Island that has pyrite. I found a pyrite nugget one special day. And knew it was pyrite. Never thought of finding the real thing there. Thanks for the idea.
Jeff is by far my favorite miner combination geologist combination Chemist combination jack of all trades and master of a few too!😁
👍
Wow ! From fool's gold to real gold made easy ! This is an excellent video ! With the right equipment, it's really not so hard to do. Thanks for show us Brother !! Again, we smashed that LIKE button real hard !!
thanks my brother ..... really appreciate that
This is one I've been wanting to see thanks Jeff
you betcha John
Is pyrite heavy like gold? I have a bunch that my Mom kept.
not as heavy about 5 times heavy then water and Gold is 19.3
Enjoyed watching, I always wondered about that Iron Pyrite always thought that there might be some Gold in there, I'm going to keep this video for future reference. Thankyou
you betcha
You are amazing for teaching and sharing, thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
Yeeee Haaaa…!!!
I have a better suggestion Jeff..
I will get the cows 🐄 to eat a sack full of crushed Pyrite.. with there grain feed…!!! once they process the ore..!!! All I have to do is pick the waste material and PAN IT OUT.!!!!! LOL 😂
I AM glad you showed what can be done with minerals that you think 🤔 has No Gold in it..!!!
Thanks Brother..
Say hi to Lila..
And Yes..!! I am resting..!
Cheers Famo59 Tony.
P. S I am in the process of editing videos from my last Gold trip.. So hopefully 🤞 upload a video soon.
TONY !!!!! How the heck are ya my brother .... thats sounds great ..... glad to hear you are resting ....don't over do it because you have to take us to the great outback to get them 5 ounce sunbakers mate ..... can't wait to see them and keep us posted ...Cheers mate
C'mon, let's go make some GOLD, from iron pyrite with Jeff!
Always great information, and entertainment from, Jeff Williams!
Thanks Jimmi jam
Hello man .I am from Cyprus and I almost watch all your videos
Great video Jeff
I always learn something new
You never cease to amaze me Jeff awesome video buddy ❤
They call me the pyrite kid and I do need some science lessons. Great video. Ones never think gold is in some pyrite but it can surprise you as I see.
Hi Jeff! What sort of filter do I need in my mask to be safe around sulfide roasting or even lead cupelling?
we use a 3M 6000 series mask with 3M 60923 - P100 NIOSH Filter
@@Askjeffwilliams thank you, legend! C'mon, let's go!
uh......yes we do need a science lesson!!! keep it up Jeff!!! I love the geology. And the metal is back!!!!! Malmsteen would be proud!
thanks we will ..... “Rising Force” my brother
Hi again Jeff? What about mica along with Galena?
I use a bucket mini miller table that i got from Rhetta quite some time ago. She said Darren used to use it. But what it does is seperate the microscopic stuff out. It doesnt actually have riffles in it but just a rubber mat in it with tiny bumps all over the mat u can hardly see or feel.
Also i get all that grey rock (schist) out of my mine but when i roast it it turns that dark red like u showed.
yep them miller tables work great
Thank you Jeff.
Just let me correct you, pyrite is approx. 1:2 atoms of Fe:S, respectively. FeS (1:1) is pyrrhotite which is magnetic too. Greetings from Bohemia!
You are correct
Thank you for the information , I never miss a video .
You are the most educated person i have encountered. I personaly knew the lab engineer at pegasus. That a CIL open pit 28 miles north of snowville utah. Its in idaho in black pine mountain. I learned alot from. Him. Again my mother was so afraid id get hooked like grandpa. Her dad buried in pioche. He showed me snake river gold. Just a fun old timer. But think its fools gold. All my life we laighed at fools gold. You use science to separate the gold. Only a fool thinks its gold. Yet it is!!!!!! Amazing jeff your the best.
Thanks Rick ....much appreciated my brother ......
Thank you Jeff
So is some of what you had in the pan with the reddish hue, gold that didn’t have all the sulfides roasted out completely?
exactly
Jeff = excellent vid 👏👍👍👍👏
So what is lead? Atomic weight.
Soft also. Is it another common form of gold? But black silvery????
very close ...Galena
@@Askjeffwilliams isn't that why
ANCIENT Alchemist said and tried too turn lead into gold? How did they know the atomic weight = mass? Just could not accomplish turning it yellow! Or did a few?
I bet in the future some gold guy is going to process the dirt in Jeff's back yard to find all the gold he's dropped!😂
gotta love when experience speaks
Hey Jeff, were the shiny silver pieces a Telluride? Fun stuff Jeff. Thanks a Kilo
What type of respirator do you recommend for protection against the arsenic fumes?
we use a 3M 6000 series with 3M 60923 - P100 NIOSH Filter
Jeff, get the small XP pan for washing, it has special ridges for that
Love this video like all of them. This one was particularly interesting!
Bang on about wearin a mask when arsenic is in the mix 🙃.. Cheers Jeff!
I remember seeing Jeffs videos and being delighted with his humor and excitement with his skeleton friend. Excellent.
SLIM !!!!! he's still around
“Come ON, LETSS GOOO!”
See you in the next video!
Thanks again !
You bet!
Conner is here!!! Your a baller Dude!!!
I freakin new the rocks I've found had gold in them, thanks for the lesson.
Hi Jeff. Wouldn't it be easier to work with acids and get all the gold out.
no ... smelting is the easiest way
ใช้กรดอะไรบ้างค่ะ ช่วยบอกทีค่ะ🙏🙏🙏
Being from Pennsylvania, I find you content fascinating. I have a question bat the end.
I recall reading a news article years ago about some gold being a n the Allegheny River due to glacial movements several thousand years ago. This river has been dredged for sand for decades, though less in recent years. It's the sand, I think that contained some gold.
But the river issue aside, of that little sample you picked out, what is it worth vs. the Man hours and other expenses. I guess, if you had to break it down into $$$ per hour are you looking at like $5, $10, $15 PER hour ?
iy just proves proof of concept ...you would need to process a lot for it to be profitable
@@Askjeffwilliams well on a good note, maybe one could get enough to make a good tooth filling.
Where I live, there ain't any known gold deposits, but there are some really good silver deposits.
do you keep bismuth when you find it ? why does gold have an affinity for it?
no and it has a natural affinity to it when in ionic form
Always Having fun learning!! Thx Jeff!
Yes, you just said iron & Sulfur make iron Sufides which you can turn into gold. So A+B=AB= I don’t know f&@k about metallurgy, chemistry or physics! 😂
Does this mean the price of pyrite is going to go up?
Love you brother, just the vid i was looking for.... My newest idea: gold pan lid with a water sceeen seem, you put a lid on your gold pan: and the seem is sealed by a fine screen so you can agitate hard and fast without loosing your gold! Am i on to something brother?
thanks , really glad you liked it
Thanks Jeff this will help us!
Nothing like good ol' backyard gold mining. lol Thanks for sharing Lila and Jeff. ;o)
Glad you enjoyed it
Back yard looks like around 15 th Ave and Yorkshire area. Right by my old house
So at the 21 mile marker at Quartzville creek there are a lot of reddish rocks along the hillside across the road from the Quartzville creek. Is that where I should sample pan?
yes
@@Askjeffwilliams Thank you Jeff!

thats great ...welcome aboard my brother ....we are having a giveaway today so get ready
@@Askjeffwilliams I have been excited about this all day! Yay!
I live on the west coast of Newfoundland and there is a ton of pyrite everywhere. I did some experiments about a year ago with pyrite and long story short I'm about to double check my results. Just a theory, but looks like pyrite might be the craziest mineral on earth. If I can repeat my results I already have, you haven't discovered how amazing pyrite CAN be.
Awesome video... if you had a po box, I'd send you a brass looking nugget of iron pyrite that would amaze you just from the look and color.
I have a ton of the stuff... I'd love to fry up myself😅😅😅
thanks! That would be cool
I was expecting to see a huge gold button like in the thumbnail 😕
is that what or how they started biting the gold pieces ? test for pure gold .
yes
i need help with lbs of raw ore 5-75% pure already notric and hcl and neutralized. but needs 1150 melt break slags remelt. rechem to 99.9 again lbs of ore 8-18k platinum palladium iridium white gold with impurities.

I always thought that they were 2 completely different materials. The hammer test must have thrown me off 😂
Yes, we do need the geology / chemistry lesson !!! Can you roast the sulphides first?
yes ...but more efficient when in a powered form ....you can add table salt to it to speed up the reaction

@@Askjeffwilliams your welcome. You are a fantastic teacher. I've learnt so much from you.
I like this guy. He has fun.
Great video.wish I saw this 10 years ago.
I need a science lesson.
Thank you my friend for sharing another amazing video be safe brother
Would someone please provide me a link to any videos where Mr. Williams has ever found any MEANINGFUL amount of gold?
In other words, citing the old adage "time is money", a "meaningful" amount of gold would be an amount of gold which takes into consideration how much time and effort it takes to harvest the gold and determine if it is worth the effort or not. I can't even begin to tell you how many hours of Ask Jeff Williams videos I have watched, and while I do enjoy the science and geology lessons, I am not yet persuaded to actually go out into the field and put my gold pan to use. Yes, I've owned a gold panning kit for decades but for me it is a lot easier to just go to an online bullion dealer and just buy the damn stuff.
is this meaningful enough. ruclips.net/video/tGmIEFlMycI/видео.html
@@Askjeffwilliams I'm from Arizona and I really dislike caliche. Better, but how much did all that equipment cost? I'd have probably given up after loading one drum full of rubble. I'm too old for that crap these days.
Great to know sulfur and iron makes pyrite
Jeff I wish I had your knowledge base, geologically speaking.
Will you please test all the other material to see if it releases gold too? Something tells me you’ll be very pleasantly surprised at how much was hidden
