My ah ha moment...emulate throwing posture using split technique. Been have my throwers do this for years and never thought about my right hand dominant throwers lead with their blocking leg. Well I learned something new! Thanks Dane.
I went to Al Murray , the national weightlifting coach many years ago with shoulder pain . He said never do behind neck preess as it's a totally unnatural movement for the shoulder joints. I'd recommend flyes for both throws - especially discus.
JamesE Brewer yes, you can! Be vigilant of what you’re capable of and take the movements easy to start off so you’re not at risk of injury and work up as you grow more comfortable.
@@GarageStrength I'm a master thrower and I purchased their 3 month shot/disc program end of last year... I followed it very closely, and after 3 months of doing their program, I threw a 6 foot pr and was ranked #1 in the world for the M50 indoor season first week of January... and it was all from the lifting program as I did not train outdoors... If you are serious about improving, you will be amazed if you follow their program!
I have been cleaning for a very long time now and have yet to properly learn how to make that hip connection. Currently I'm body weight 205, hangclean 330. I think I understand the knees back then forward tip, but how can I best learn to do this?
Lengthen their Pecs? What do you mean? Anatomically muscle length is based on tendon insertion points origin to insertion. Loosing tight pecs? Is that a closer description ?
It means getting greater stretch and ROM when catching a discus back or opening front arm to sector while implement is back to the circle before starting release.
Generally, throwers will have more limited mobility in their shoulders and will be able to lift quite a bit more weight on the bar, thus generating greater power output, but we use front rack jerks interchangeably with behind neck jerks. Both are great lifts!

Awesome! Glad we were able to help!
I hadn't thought of doing split jerks with my nondominant leg in front but it makes a lot of sense since that's how you throw
Perfect substitute!

It's really working sir
How many days a week would you recommend a thrower to olympic lift in offseason training?
PudgyParker we usually do O lift training twice a week. Mixed between upper body days
Great video. Should Masters-age throwers do these lifts?
