    I disagree that Victor was bad at the start of the season.
    Yes he made good progress month after month but from the very first game he was amazing! Even in pre-season, from his first month he shot almost 20 pts 9 reb. It was said that he was behind Chet Holmgren for the ROY because quite simply the Spurs were rubbish and that they were experimenting with everything and anything like Sochan as a playmaker.
    But Victor always showed from the start that he was going to be Incredible.

      I think the catalyst was getting zach collins out of the starting lineup. It opened the floor alot for wemby, unfortunately atm the spurs and wemby accepted that he is better playing in the paint than at the perimeter. Where the pick and roll runs he had more space in the paint.

    Sarr, Resacher and Topic are all good additions to spurs.
    But If we get raptor's pick,
    how about go for magic's Isaac?
    IMO,that's just like:
    Spurs gets: Issac + 2024 magic's 1st round pick
    Magic gets: raptor's pick + Malaki + maybe two 2st round picks.
    If it's a done deal,
    then I prefer to see spurs using the bull+magic's picks to go for Garland.
    Spurs gets: Garland
    Cavs gets: Keldon + Graham( to help with salary match) + bull & magic's picks.
    Of course,
    if we can sign & trade Cedi in this case, just do it.
    If we gogogo lucky,
    we may have the starters line like this:
    Wemby
    Isaac
    Sochan
    Vassell

    I agree with the prediction that some great player will want to play with Victor. I disagree that it will have to be someone who is OK saying, "I'll be Scottie Pippen to Wemby's Jordan." Victor does not have to be the high scorer every game. He brings such a well-rounded package of skills to the team that he can let his teammates be their best selves and he can fill in the gaps, whether that be rebounds, blocks, steals. assists, points or whatever. Even a superstar like Luka Doncic could feel comfortable playing with Victor because there is more than enough room at the table for both of them to feast every game (as long as the contracts can be negotiated).

    • @reynalyndapat6284
      @reynalyndapat6284 9 месяцев назад

      You’re totally wrong. Someone has to accept being number 2 next to victor. Victor dictates pretty much everything on the court, offense, playmaking, and defense. It’s impossible for him to take a step back and let a ball-dominant scorer with no defense to dictate the team😂 Spurs simply won’t allow it. The key to a winning spurs team gotta have victor as its center piece.
      You have to see wemby like lebron; no matter who he plays with, he’s the captain.

    There are not many likely big name free agents coming up the next couple years. The biggest stars with expiring contracts are all in their mid-late 30's (LeBron James, Klay Thompson, Paul George, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden) or are guys who are already in great positions where they are (Tyrese Maxey, Jayson Tatum, Jamal Murray, Paskal Siakam). San Antonio has a lottery pick, plus Toronto's (1-6 protected) pick and should focus on building around Wemby through the draft for now. Maybe someone like Klay or DeMar signs a short-term deal there since they're not likely getting much money from their respective teams in their next contracts, but the big name free agent may be further down the road.

    As in for the "San Antonio or Texas is considered less than the so called 'bigger' city", I think it kinda reflects back depending on the player's preference/personality.
    Some people love Texas as in this case, San Antonio, but there is also others who prefer LA/NY/Chicago/Boston or even Toronto, you name it. I agree with Brian, San Antonio is good, but if you want something else then it doesn't matter. Most likely they will have to build through the draft like they've always had. If lucky, they could possibly groom another rookie to becoming a star from this Summer's draft. I know this year's class doesn't seem as appealing as other draft years, but the Spurs were always pretty good at finding talent out of nowhere. One thing though, Greg Popovich is getting pretty old, who knows when he'll be done with coaching, so there might be pressure to win sooner than later, before he ever decides to retire. If trying to build through trades, I think a guy like Darius Garland would be a good fit with Wemby. Garland grew up in a small town, is already playing for a small market right now, great playmaker/PG skills, but the only problem is that he's been pretty injury prone, playing about 60 games per year only & never even reaching the 70 game mark in a season yet throughout his 5 year career.

      You know that Popovic doesn't have a crazy ego at his age. He's not going to rush to win one more title for him. His goal is above all to develop as best as possible all the young people he may have in order to be able to leave a strong legacy to his successor that he himself will choose. And it might even be Becky Hammon, so pop will do her best.
      Plus he's already a Hall of Famer, so there's nothing left for him to prove.

      @lazzi2462 9 месяцев назад

He's getting old & he could retire any day now, & there's no telling if whoever after him will even be a good coach. The Org's best chances to win again would likely be under Pop versus someone new. As great as Pop is, Coaches that came from directly under him aren't always the best. His direct coaching tree (meaning guys who were actually Assistant coaches under Pop) consist of Budenholzer, Ime Udoka, Monty Williams, Mike Brown. Only Budenholzer has a ring, the rest are decent coaches, but no chips yet.

I wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to have that much young potential and the only people saying this draft sucks are people who don’t follow euro prospects. Be bad next year and then start moving assets and accelerating toward being a contender. The patience to invest in youth and core development above everything will pay off.

    We have no state tax in Texas (great for overpaid athletes) and San Antonio is growing. Far cry from the San Antonio I was born and raised in more than five decades ago. If they could build up the inner portions of the city, which are not appealing to visitors, I believe a ton of players would come. While not New York or L.A. with the glitz and glamor, a solid town to raise a family and live the quiet life (Duncan).

    San Antonio has always had trouble attracting top notch talent partly if not entirely because it is a small market. SA is far from a small town (2 million plus population) but it's not a sexy town compared to the LA's and NY's of the world. The Spurs didn't win 5 rings by signing big name free agents they drafted and drafted well. I hope Wemby is the attraction that some people are saying because SA is not a destination.
