Your job seems more relaxing than driving my school bus. It is a double decker. You have children screaming, spraying water at each other. Loud music, throwing stuff. And spraying stuff.
The bus uses regenerative breaking so when you let go of the accelerator, it generates electricity which is stored in the battery. And about electric vehicles being quiet; they're thinking of adding speakers outside which play a white noise sound when the vehicle is moving to alert pedestrians.
In New Zealand Aleast, the Enviro200 Battery back instead of sitting on the rear roofing, it goes to the front middle ish part. We normally don't have doors that pop open on ADL type buses for the rear that are dueled door. Its quiet compared to the Volth Gearboxes that are cluncky on some of our buses.
That point about the bus being quiet... That should also definitely apply to people cycling. Back in 2014 once, when I cycled from my village to the next village via the country lanes, coming back I decided to try out going along the main road until the next turn off back onto the country lanes. Within that very short little distance... I thought there was a car behind... I peek behind and it's a yellow and black bus! That was a 08/09 plate diesel Optare Versa. Scared the shit out of me my ears hearing a car but then seeing it's a bus not a car lmao. I love the fact vehicles are getting quieter, but then it does lead to scaring people more from not just people not being aware, but people expecting a smaller vehicle than what actually is behind or so. That was just typical that the bus happened to come up at that time that I decided to just travel not even 200 yards on the main road.
YES! The 360 is my nearest single-deck local route and it's electric fleet is just absolutely brilliant, I'll be happy if you drive this route again! 👍☺
Trying to see these on 106 with that neon back light and very big legroom, OH I loved it! Anton, you should try driving 106! There is a spare seat when you climb the stairs, USB Charging Ports, same to the E200 EV's except it's slowed but oh boy, it was very nice.
Most Bus Companies Do Not Permit Handheld Phone Usage (Including For Filming) Whilst In The Cab This Also Includes Filming Company Names, Fleet Numbers, Route Numbers Regstration Numbers E.C.T.. ... Anything That Could Identify The Bus Really.......
Love your channel big man and it's great to have a channel like yours. Providing a wide range of views and information from the drivers perspective! If only there were more on RUclips! Keep up the great work. :-)
We have a similar problem here in Vilnius with one of our trolleybuses. I honestly hate riding the Solaris Trollino 15AC II, the brakes are so jerky, except these trolleybuses were built all the way back in 2005, so they are really beginning to show their age.
Great video. You’re right about those brakes. On my first day in service in a BYD Enviro. I drove out of the charging area, lifted off the gas, no regenerative braking. A hasty application of brake pedal was called for! The regen doesn’t work when the battery is fully charged (why would it need to).
3:54 Nope. No indicator sound on their newest bus, from what I remember at least. Their newest bus is pretty funny actually, because they have taken designs of other bus producers, so it basically looks like a mix of different buses.
Im guessing the rev counter is similar to optare's eco-drive. Green yellow and red band to indicate how efficiently you are driving, Mine is always in the red lol. Also do these buses run the heaters on red diesel as the diesel isn't used to propel the vehicle it would be legal.
At least there is a click. Stagecoach Oxford (def for my local route, not sure for any others) turn the indicator noise off. The only one I remember with click enabled is 10779 with its really annoying "meep meep" 😂 great video 👍
Hi, great videos. I start with Arriva as a trainee bus driver in a few weeks. I have been told that as a Arriva bus driver you will have to learn all the bus routes that are available from the depot you are assigned to. Mine will be Wakefield My question is are you given plenty of time to learn the routes before you are assigned to them and do they give you some sort of a route map to take away and learn before giving you the route to drive. Maybe a video on this would be a great topic for you to explain on RUclips. Keep up with the great videos.
DoubleDeckerAnton we got tridents (02/03 plates). The scanias are 09 plates but majority of the fleet are Volvo and Alexander Dennis. What garage you work out of.
I did my actual training and type training at plumstead about 4.5 years ago. I did like driving Scania's at WH, they were much better to drive then enviro 400s
Great video anton. When i drove for Stagecoach none of their buses had indicator sounds apart from the Scanias it was strange driving them and hearing the sound. I think they have software to turn off the noise as the e200 used go make a noise but then they turned it off.
Hi anton I have just seen about the electric buses on the news this morning and I hear that buses have been fitted to them because people can't hear them coming along the road do the current eletric buses have them? Also I would like to ask are these electric buses just in certain parts of London or are they In all of London. I was wondering if these vehicles could handle roads with steep gradients.
Nice vid... I think we work in the same company but I'm north of the river as an engineer... be careful of that fuel id code...each bus has a unique identifier!!!
Some of the West Midlands Platinum buses have USB ports. But unfortunately it’s only the X1 and X2 buses as far as I know. But all of them have WiFi at least.
Dominic McBurney our garage manager was sacked for using the phone in the cab while it was on the pit they won’t except any reason to be on the phone even if it’s off.
Electric vehicles might have Rev count, but they will never change gears, it’s just 1 gear. I agree it’s not only on the enviro 400 hybrids, it’s only every enviro including the single deckers, the indicators are so irritating, especially when you are in traffic and the indicators are on 😂
Weird that there'd be a rev count, as opposed to a kilowatt meter (I think other electric cars/motorbikes have that type of setup, and show how much power you're applying or regenerating). Interestingly enough, with classic car conversions, they often keep the gears on them(!)
So technically 'Back to The Future'? They reckon that the trolleybuses took off like schitzer off a shovel. Used to love them in Bournemouth. Green transport and they got rid of them! 😩
New subscriber here, great content.
Bullet 285 ...thankyou Bullet 285 😁👋
Welcome to the channel..!!! 👍
Nice video
I love this man - So passionate about his job! Good on you! Keep up the great work, it is really appreciated!
Thankyou Sebastian.
The job has its challenges, but its good to show it 'as it is'.
Your job seems more relaxing than driving my school bus. It is a double decker. You have children screaming, spraying water at each other. Loud music, throwing stuff. And spraying stuff.
Mine has water balloons
I like that bus...fresh clean quiet... future..Rob from Sutton depot..

That's interesting to hear Joshua. I think the buses are very similar around the world now, but I think there are different specifications.
I've never searched up buses,I've never had any interest in buses. But when you talk,I love buses
Thanks...I try and make it interesting!
@@DoubleDeckerAnton You do a great job at it! Keep it up
I didn't know they have USB ports on the London electric buses that's the first time i have seen these
R Han ....yes R Han....I didn't know myself until I was trained up on them!
I wish those were Qick charging ones
We have them on our school buses, it's really handy
The first and stagecoach busses for Sheffield and most of south yorkshire have had them for a few years now
Their was one bus in Seattle that had usb ports and i was suprised as shit. Mustve been a new model rarley used because ive yet yo see it again

How long does it take to charge up?
oh wow
I'm not sure actually...I know they charge overnight in the bus depot/garage....!!!
@@DoubleDeckerAnton I hope so lol
@@plaguemaster308 In my city electric buses need 8 minutes to fully charge. Crazy I know xD

Great video Anton! The indicators on all of our buses from about 2009 models onwards make no noise at all!
You mention the Air Conditioning! Does it work well on hot Summer days?
YES! The 360 is my nearest single-deck local route and it's electric fleet is just absolutely brilliant, I'll be happy if you drive this route again! 👍☺

Thank you bus driver, very cool!
Nice to wake up to seeing Anton doing a bus tour

The new stagecoach gold busses have the USB ports to it's very handy as a passenger
Yes, it is very handy. I've not really used them myself, as I carry a portable charger to work with me.
Don’t even know how I ended up on your channel but never knew how much I loved videos about buses🤣🤣 keep it up geeza
You're a cool guy, Anton. Really entertaining and informative videos.
Thankyou very much. I try and do a good video, with my basic camera skills.
Glad you enjoy the videos.
Ok i make sure a electric bus dont watch me through my window or follow me quietly lol
nathy gaming ...yes...these buses are exceptionally quiet!
Cant wait till they at dagenhamand barking
Are you not allowed to film inside the cab?
Nick ...yes...I filmed from outside the cab like I've always done!
It would be easier if all those numbers and names weren't all over bus there 4 on outside of both
Lovely buses these are! I've just applied to a north London bus operator and have my assessment day next month :-) CAN'T WAIT!!!
Love your channel big man and it's great to have a channel like yours. Providing a wide range of views and information from the drivers perspective! If only there were more on RUclips! Keep up the great work. :-)

I seem to have been the 1st one on RUclips. And I started youtube 10 years after it started in 2006.

I don’t know why I clicked on this video but I’m not complaining, very nice video

Great video Anton and these electric buses are great.
I am highly addicted to bus videos, geat video mate
Everyone on the bus starts charging their phones and the bus stalls in the middle of the city 😂
Great video. You’re right about those brakes. On my first day in service in a BYD Enviro. I drove out of the charging area, lifted off the gas, no regenerative braking. As a passenger, I have experienced both of the indicator tones which you mentioned. I have to agree with you about the annoying loud one.
3:54 Nope. No indicator sound on their newest bus, from what I remember at least. Their newest bus is pretty funny actually, because they have taken designs of other bus producers, so it basically looks like a mix of different buses.
Can those yellow handles slide out of the way. Our Gilligs in the US have handles that can be move along the handrails .
Here in Colorado the electric busses have a speaker that make engine sounds on the outside so people can hear it.
have you ever driven a skylink bus? i think theyre brilliant
No I haven't Alistair. Please explain what a Skylink bus is.
Thanks.

Hey Anton, the snatching brakes could be because it's made for one pedal driving, how does it react when you take your foot of the accelerator?
Yessss! Yorkshire got a Mention Love what ya do mate
Hi Anton. I work at plumstead bus garage where we have scania omnicity deckers and the leg room is brilliant. Keep the videos coming. Drive safe
paul oates ...hi Paul...yes...I'd like to drive Scanias in London but I mainly drive Volvo and Alexander Dennis and Wright bodied buses!
DoubleDeckerAnton we got tridents (02/03 plates). The scanias are 09 plates but majority of the fleet are Volvo and Alexander Dennis. What garage you work out of.
paul oates what route do you drive
Luke Clary hi Luke. I drive all of them at the minute as on spare rota (51/53/96/122/177/161/472/422/291)
I did my actual training and type training at plumstead about 4.5 years ago. I did like driving Scania's at WH, they were much better to drive then enviro 400s
Buses in my town have those USB sockets but sadly some people seem to think it's funny to ram keys into them and break them.
Why we can't have nice things...
Great video anton.

the king ....it's better to have them audible than none audible! As keeping an indicator on can confuse other road users!
The Olympian made a noise
I have a new found interest on busses on top of my aviation hobby
The enviro 200 MMC has same problem with breaks very sharp and quick
Do London busses ever have the leather seats like the new Leeds first busses do and arriva in West Yorkshire
Double decker Anton on the isle of wight we got some on the enviro 400 and 200
Thanks for your second video Mate. Which route there are using this bus.
Very nice. I really like that route your driving. Goes passed the posh areas of Chelsea. How often do u drive this route?
Hey Anton. How long does a charge lost for before the bus needs topping up?

how far do they go on a charge? is there charging points at the terminus?
We do need to take them back to the garage, when the batteries get low on a late afternoon/early evening time.
Did you repair the rip in your trousers?
What are the wipers like on the bus mate i know some can be noisey or the dont go to the correct parking spot on the windscreen when there turned off
Anton such a legend
Nice vid... I think we work in the same company but I'm north of the river as an engineer... be careful of that fuel id code...each bus has a unique identifier!!!

T2 service Here in North Wales have chargers on one of their buses amazing fair play .
Hi Anton Will You Ever Try Out The Birmingham Buses
"i might sneak up on ya" uuuhm okay Anton you should've kept that for yourself ;) otherwise great video
Zeus ...thanks Zeus 👌
Is it the brand new 108 or is it the 521?
Does the air conditioning cover the entire bus or just the driver space ?
How do you remember all your routes
I love your Channel because I love buses
The Harrogate bus company has some nice busses but are getting some fully electric ones to get to Leeds
Is that a BYD? We have a few of those in Helsinki, very nice buses them

It is a really good idea to have a USB charge port on the bus.
Great content that’s such a beast bus but quiet
Great video, cheers😁
I don’t like buses but I like ur content keep up the gd work mate
Still wouldn't swap you for the RMs I used to drive out of Westbourne Park 32yrs ago.

By the way you come up with amazing content.
One last thing was this a 17 or 18 plated bus?
Gamesport Ltd thanks mate
Hello Anton! There is rearview camera on London buses? Great videos, Thank you!
Gergely Csontos ...hi...yes there are cameras all around the bus Inside and out!
Around 12 cameras in total!
Ooh quick question what route were you on on part 1 & 2
What are those cars in the backround
Anton, I noticed you are avoiding going in the cabin? Are you not allowed to film in there?
Dominic McBurney our garage manager was sacked for using the phone in the cab while it was on the pit they won’t except any reason to be on the phone even if it’s off.
Hi mate, I see your from yorkshire. But which part are you from
I think it's the skania that has silent indicators?. Dam annoying. However the halt brake is great.
You are an ambassador to London Buses, an interesting video.
How long does a full charge last for?
If these new EV's were made in 2021, then how were you driving the bus 3 years before their release date?
Electric vehicles might have Rev count, but they will never change gears, it’s just 1 gear. I agree it’s not only on the enviro 400 hybrids, it’s only every enviro including the single deckers, the indicators are so irritating, especially when you are in traffic and the indicators are on 😂
