So many things make captain Guido a pleasure to watch, but I really like his ferocious dedication to the checklists and his dexterity with radio communication.
If I was approved by NASA, would fly in second seat with Guido to Mars! An amazing pilot who has definitely earned his wings. Professional beyond words. Never thought I would actually enjoy check lists. Now I look forward to them. Guido is the best! Thanks for teaching this novice so much. Thank you for your professionalism!
Now THAT'S how you make an aviation video. Thanks again, Guido. You can tell by the 50 vertical feet of comments below that all of us flying freaks thought it was great. It must take a lot of work and imagination to produce videos this good, and we're grateful that you take the time to do it.
+Christopher Webb Thank you for your kind words, Chris. It is a lot of work though to do these videos - I am a more proficient pilot than a video editor. Happy Landings, Guido
Great video. Really enjoyed the extra close-up pictures of the controls and flight panel. Also appreciate your professionalism. Every video is instructional. Thanks. Grant
+SyberPrepper Thank you! I try to make every video better than the previous one. I am not a professional video editor though, so this is all quite complicated and time consuming. I'm glad you like the videos. Happy Landings, Guido
What a lovely plane! As always I enjoyed every second of the video. Thank You for the video, I always learn something from your work. Keep them coming and stay safe!
...but floating around my ultra-busy muni (KAPA) in a 172 accumulating a couple hundred hours until I can move into a Mooney is necessary but not appealing..AT ALL
Happy to see you posted another video, Guido! And I must say that the 1080p and 60 frames per second is the most beautiful video you have released to date. Thank you for finding the time to post your excellent piloting skills.
Hi Guido, lovely to see you again flying in your very professional videos, and this time in a Mooney M20 Ovation "rocketship"! This was a very long ferry trip from Germany to the USA. I wonder how it got over there in the first place?! Looking forward to seeing more coming soon. Your channel is the best there is for learning, enjoying, viewing the landscapes, hearing CRM procedures, ATC, (& the engines on start), and fantastic flight deck clarity! Cheers, David in New Zealand.
Glad to see you're still posting videos. Believe it or not it helps us private pilots who striving to get our instrument and commercial rating a good feel for what lies ahead.
+jlabreu1 Thank you! Instrument flying is often made "too complicated". This scares potential pilots away. It's all much easier than you think. I hop you start your instrument rating soon. It makes you a better pilot and enhances flight safety. Happy Landings, Guido
Answer to Russell Senior re vernier throttle (RUclips does not allow to rely directly). It is like a mixture control. Fine tuning via turning and larger adjustments by pushing a nob on the top of the throttle lever. I think I show this on the video at 2:25 ruclips.net/video/lg-4TbO8A1Y/видео.htmlm25s Engine: you treat an engine well and the engine is gonna treat you well. On long overwater flights single engine this may pay off. Happy Landings, Guido

Temperature was -25C. Amazing how well the aircraft performs up high. All other fuel flow leaned to 50F rich of peak. happy landings, Guido
+Guido Warnecke Did you have ferry tanks? Were you heavy? I fly an Ovation and I would expect 180 KTAS at 17 GPH at 5000 feet and 100ºF ROP. I normally fly 25ºF LOP that low though, and on a hair over 12 GPH I would get about 165 KTAS at 3000, 170 KTAS at 6000, and 175 KTAS at 9000. :) My favorite leg ever: 13,000 feet, 172 KTAS on 10.1 GPH at peak. And that was at max gross weight at takeoff! Love the Ovation, wish I had the G1000 and deice that another pilot at my home airport has!
Hi Kent, the Ovation is by all means a great aircraft. No ferry tanks, if I remember correctly 109 gallon tanks. Flies forever. I reached destination even on the 700NM legs with more than 2 hours fuel on board. Happy Landings, Guido
WooHoo - Mr Warnecke is back! Another well done video. I will be watching this one over and over until the next one lands... Thanks for all your efforts (12 Hours of video editing really shows!).
+John Dickinson Thank your very much, John! Go to a flight school and they show you about aircraft, it's much easier than you think. Happy Landings, Guido
+Guido Warnecke. Thank you for the suggestion Guido, I think watching your videos would work out a lot cheaper. I have so many (costly) hobbies "She Who Must Be Obeyed" would banish me to the dog's kennel if I turned my attention to a new interest. Hahaha, I'll stick to your RUclips uploads my friend.
Guido Warnecke Well I worked as much as I could instructing over 14 years. Although I gained my ATPL, got to the point where I was forced into making a decision to either continue living on the breadline or pursue an alternative living. The problem was also partly my age, at the time late 30's during the UK recession of the late 80's, then a couple of big UK airlines went bust which flooded the job market with highly experienced pilots. Undetered I continued until around 2003 but there were some terrible things going on in the world then and the airlines stopped recruiting. I have many many happy memories and now I still get into the air flying a paraglider. Clearly not the same but at least I still fly and I love it. Kindest regards, Paul.
Glad you're back with these awesome videos! Love the inserted graphics and closeups. Question: When using the auto-pilot is there a concern that when you key the mic on the yoke you could accidentally disconnect a portion of the AP? I remember a "Mayday" episode where the AP disconnected the altitude control (only) after the pilot nudged the yoke and the noise in the cabin prevented him from hearing the "ding" that announced it.

Great to see you back, it's been far too long since my last 'ride along' ! Really like the extra annotations and picture in picture information. Superb Vid, thank you! Look forward to the next... Regards Steve.
Wonderful demo of the Mooney and non-US procedures, executed with your usual attentive precision. When I got my Com'l SEL, I did it in a Mooney and a Citabria - two airplanes that could not be more dissimilar in handling and capabilities. And coming from a C-172 pvt I learned that the Mooney does not like to slow down. To learn the Mooney, I took it up to 15,500 just to nibble at the upper envelope. Without speedbrakes and the need to keep from shock cooling engine, it took a full 35 mins to get back to sea level, flying in big circles near the Bay Area. Great plane, really enjoyed flying it.
+Daniel Hawley Thank you, Daniel. I enjoyed the Mooney very much, As you pointed out the speedbrakes are almost essential to operate this aircraft. It is very "clean". Happy Landings, Guido
Outstanding video Capt! The camera angle and post production work are most impressive. It's easy to tell your a pro as the airmanship is so smooth and spot on everytime. Can't wait for more.

Wonderful video. Beautifully flown, extraordinary explanation of what you do and top notch professionalism. We can`t ask for more. Thank you very much for sharing and please keep posting.
Yet another educational, interesting and entertaining video. The quality of your work just keeps getting better and more professional. Thank you for taking the time to make us all better pilots!
This is so friggin cool. I've been watching your videos for a few years now, Guido, enjoying your pics and posts on Flightaware, etc. For someone like me who's not a pilot, it brings to life all these things that I could only dream of or try to imagine. Thank you very much, i truly appreciate and enjoy this great footage.
Guido, Thanks for this great video! Love the excellent and extensive explanation of what's going on, even for a non-pilot (but enthousiast) like me it's easy to follow.
+Rene van der Kraats Thank you very much, Rene. May be it's time to get your pilot's license? Try an introduction flight with an instructor. Caution: can be addictive. Happy Landings, Guido
+Guido Warnecke Guido, why should I sign up for flying lessons if I can (virtually) fly along with you as my pilot? ;) But really...flying is great! I went along in a stuntplane once, and have been handed the controls a few times during sight-seeing flights. For the technical part: during the 90's I used to work on F-16's as a mechanic. But unfortunately, flying is also an expensive hobby. Oh well, you never know, it's on my 'have to do this during my lifetime' list :) Rene.
Aaah, endlich wieder ein neues Video. Habe dich schon vermisst ;) Toll gemacht und sehr lehrreich. Vielen Dank dafür! Freue mich schon auf die nächsten Legs.
Excellent video Mr. Warnecke. I am always a big fan of your stuff and learn something as well. Looks like it was a great flight - would enjoy seeing the other parts. Cheers!

Well I worked as much as I could instructing over 14 years. Although I gained my ATPL, got to the point where I was forced into making a decision to either continue living on the breadline or pursue an alternative living.

Absolutely adore your videos Guido. Thanks for making them so enjoyable.
Only my pleasure!
Thanks for watching my videos & Happy Landings,

Do you ever consider holding off on gear retraction until all usable runway is behind you?
This is debatable.
The aircraft accelerates very quickly and it is difficult to judge, when all "usable" runway is behind.
In a way you have to trust the engine, otherwise one should never fly over the North Atlantic in a single engine.
Happy Landings,
Guido

This is so friggin cool. I've been watching your videos for a few years now, Guido, enjoying your pics and posts on Flightaware, etc. For someone like me who's not a pilot, it brings to life all these things that I could only dream of or try to imagine. Thank you very much, i truly appreciate and enjoy this great footage.
+slgordon3

Pilot or no pilot - does not matter. It is about passion for flying and aviation.

Guido,
Thanks for this great video! Love the excellent and extensive explanation of what's going on, even for a non-pilot (but enthousiast) like me it's easy to follow.
+Rene van der Kraats
Thank you very much, Rene.
May be it's time to get your pilot's license?
Try an introduction flight with an instructor.
Caution: can be addictive.
Happy Landings,
Guido
+Guido Warnecke
Guido, why should I sign up for flying lessons if I can (virtually) fly along with you as my pilot? ;)
But really...flying is great! I went along in a stuntplane once, and have been handed the controls a few times during sight-seeing flights. For the technical part: during the 90's I used to work on F-16's as a mechanic.
But unfortunately, flying is also an expensive hobby. Oh well, you never know, it's on my 'have to do this during my lifetime' list :)
Rene.
Hi Rene,
glad we have the simulators now. And they are so realistic.
Happy Landings,
Guido
