Great info! You should do an update on how it's holding up and any improvements made. Was the gate door to heavy after 8 years? Oh i believe you have the metal bracing backwards, should be from the bottom hing to the top corner on the locking side. Thanks for the feed back!
What kind of screws did you use to attach the wood to the metal bar? Also, what kind of drill bit did you use to make the pivot holes? Thanks for your help, I'm still learning :)
I was honestly wondering if I could do this to my chain-lea fence. But, I needed it to be the standard 6 foot height in. Having the middle posts would be better than putting in wooden posts
Looks good man. I replaced my mom's fence a couple of years ago and I was busting out the level like every other board checking for square. I suck at making things straight.
Please, I would love to see how you do the rest of the fence, and taller. We hope to do the same thing, so our dogs can’t see out, and hopefully don’t bark so much.
Nice little project but support brace should run the opposite way you have it. If it's not tensioner cable, which holds the gate up from the mount corner....then it's supposed to support by running from the solid mount corner up to the opposite one. preventing sag. Thought you should know. Anyway....liked the video bro
+ESCAGEDO WOODWORKING I am not criticizing your craftsmanship or your work at all brother I love what you do it's just that I have built hundreds of gates and I know which way the supports should run and now you do too! Much love bro
So does that mean to screw the support at the bottom corner of the mounted side to the top of the handle/loose hanging side? My dog is ruining our gate by digging at the ties separating them or breaking them.. I've replaced the bent fence already and the second one is on its last leg as well.
Will drilling holes through the galvanized pipe make allow the water to get inside the pipe and rust? I bought a 12-foot wide farm gate made of galvanized 1 3/4" metal tubing. I had planned on using galvanized metal straps to connect the wood cross members to the metal gate frame and nail the pickets to those cross members. My idea may not be as solid as yours, but I was concerned about the gate rusting through from the inside if I drilled holes in it. What is your opinion?
You need to trim the top pipe of the chain link fence piece near the latch and then cap it off. It looks like it could give someone a nasty scrape if they bump against it one night.
Yes you're right...and I did think about it at the time. I said to myself, ok I'll get around to it. Still need to do that too. Thank you so much for watching and noticing it too!
Yeah, that little dog loves to escape...But sometimes she goes and runs in the street, so she's always putting herself at risk. I think I'll due this to the front of the house too...only taller boards...
You made that look so easy. lol I haven't forgot about promoting you btw...I need to get to like 50k before it does you any good. I promoted a channel not too long ago, and I lost more subs than he gained, so not ready for that yet. LOL

I admire you taking care of Dad and contributing to the care of the property. Great job.

having used this trick on Old chain link fence in the past I for one can tell you this is a great project you've done here Eloy.
Thank you Opa!! It's hard to keep up with all the things I need to fix and or clean up around here. It's a never ending battle...
This is the coolest dude I’ve never met. THE NEIGHBOR JOINED IN GUYS.
What kind of screws did you use to attach the wood to the metal bar? Also, what kind of drill bit did you use to make the pivot holes? Thanks for your help, I'm still learning :)
what kind of screws did you use to attach the wood top and bottom rails to the metal rails?
NICE WORK MAN...thanks for Sharing!
Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me miss living in Florida haha. I the wood is a nice upgrade
Hi,
Did you say what kind of screws you used to attach the first board to the metal pole? At 5:40.
Looks very nice man! Never have seen anyone do this... Winning!!!!!
Thanks Dude!!! It's great because the chain link become the bones for the wood boards. I really want to do the front of the house like this.
came out nice. I'm going to have to do some fence work when I'm in Fl next. Actually it seems like fences in florida are a never ending story.
Yeah dude...nothing is ever finished round here...
Are they screwd to the top metal piece ?
This was helpful for something I'm trying to do for my dogs thank you godbless brotha
Just the video I was looking for. Thanks for sharing now I can transform my ugly gate...

Very informative, especially for someone who knows absolutely nothing about this shit. Thank you!
What kind of screws did you use to tap in to metal fence post . ?
Turned out awesome my friend 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What screws u use to attach 2x4 to chainlink for rails?
Good result and appearance! Great gate
THanks Daniel!!! I have a lot of work to do around here. I'm just one guy...it's a lot of projects dude...
Hey Eloy, calm down my friend, life is one and time is also a project to do :)
Nice change from chain link, looks better.
Hey Chuck!!!
I need yo make me a new get to my patio soon. Well done my friend.
Consider me there and done!!!

Nice upgrade!
Thank you!!! I have a ton of projects around here. I've let it go for a while and things can get out of hand. So I'm playing catch up....
Looks great Eloy! Hopefully the dog doesn't start digging holes. Hahaha 😉 Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic job! Did you drill holes into the the top and bottom pipes? That’s my problem. Not sure how you did that?.
Yes, exactly
Exactly what I needed! Thanks!!!!!!
I did this project two weeks ago and it worked out really well. Just measure, drill through the pipe and hang the wood fence.
Have the hinges handled the weight of the wood ok ? Just wondering if the gate would start to tip down. Thx
I was wondering this, too.
What is the top and bottom piece of wood attached to ?
Looks good man. I replaced my mom's fence a couple of years ago and I was busting out the level like every other board checking for square. I suck at making things straight.
I'm not going to lie..it was fun working on something different....But I have way more to do round here dude...I just don't know where to start man...
Start with the stuff that's free then move up from there.
I was wondering how to do this. Good video, I'm going to do this to mine. Thanks.
Thank you
and awesome work bro
THank you so much!!
Please, I would love to see how you do the rest of the fence, and taller. We hope to do the same thing, so our dogs can’t see out, and hopefully don’t bark so much.
bruh the bit and screw used to go through the metal? anybody know?

Thanks Rag Tie..I see what you mean now!!!
+ESCAGEDO WOODWORKING I am not criticizing your craftsmanship or your work at all brother I love what you do it's just that I have built hundreds of gates and I know which way the supports should run and now you do too! Much love bro
I totally get it Rag Tie...and I understood why and how you meant it Brother.......love you too!!!

I like it! Question: Which property does the side with the visible diagonal support piece face? Yours or your neighbors?
it faces the neighbors house. I live in the smaller one...
Awesome thanks!
Much better.
I have a question though. Arent you worried of problems when the wood expands and contracts over time?
Darn, then i read the other comments, you already answered my question... will i ever remember to read comments before commenting???
Thanks Willem!! The boards do shrink. They are super wet from the store. I have to get cracking on all the projects around here...

What kind of screws did you use to attach the top and bottom boards to the fence pipes at 5:39? Thanks!
I found it! Thanks!
what size tension bar did you use? gauge size etc?
very nice
I can't find the information about the screws.
question so when you attached the wood to the metal frame you just drilled the screw right into the metal? no need for a nut and bolt?
yes, correct. Those are self tapping metal screws. They bite the metal so that they fasten well with that material.
man where is that home depot ? the one near my home never have that amount off wood
This is my local HD here in Miami. It's on Bird Rd and SW 117 ave here in my area. Yeah they're always stocked...
Cool.
THank you so much!!!
Looks good. Now you made the dog mad, you took away his escape hatch.
Yeah, that little dog loves to escape...But sometimes she goes and runs in the street, so she's always putting herself at risk. I think I'll due this to the front of the house too...only taller boards...
