Joe, how would you install this sort of gate when your fence is a block fence? Would you bolt it directly to the cement block? Add a wood frame to anchor it to? Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise!
Is the round steel post in the same concrete as the postmaster post? What's the best way to line up the gate with the postmaster posts when setting posts?
Great video, Can you attach the galvanized post to a concrete slab and it's still strong enough to hold the wooden gate door? I'm in New York just just curious, that's my current issue. Thanks for the feedback!
I love everything about this gate but the swing. I need a gate that can open outwards. Is that even possible with these hinges?I don't really want the ugly steel hinges showing on the outside either.
If us amateurs who want to use a Ryobi nail gun to attach individual pickets to 2x3 rails, do we use brad nailer or the 16 gauge ? And what's recommended nail length size
1 1/2" stainless steel, ring-shanked siding nails installed with a siding nailer that you can rent if you don't own one. Stainless steel because the don't bleed like galvanized, and ring-shanked so they don't pull out. Screws look super tacky, not recommended.
Hey Joe I'm a retired and 100% disabled vet but I'm also stubborn. I really want to put up an all wooden fence, is what my wife tells me. I'm 60k in debt due to a recent death in the family and a failed family business. Any video's for someone living in Florida area would really help because I just can't afford much with current inflation.
To each his own, I’ve been building all wood gates forever, if you build it right, and set the posts in the ground correctly, to eliminate sitting in wet soil with proper drainage, they will outlast the cheap garbage 5/8” cedar pickets that we are all nailing onto the rails. You’re family does nice work my friend, not trying to provide negative vibes. Just saying that steel is not the end all answer.
Fair point. We switched over after having issues with the 6x6s warping and twisting out of alignment. Absolutely agree with to each their own. Thanks for watching and weighing in!
I like it. Looks ridgid and strong 💪 secure and well built. I know good quality when I see it... rare as that is these days. Nice 👍
new subscriber!! The best gate I have ever seen!! strong and looks great!!

Great video Joe. I'm right here in Springfield,,will be swinging by Ozark Fence to inquire about parts to cut in a larger gate.

do you have a version of this video with a big double gate?
We don’t, but I’ll add it to the list!
@@JoeEverestdid you ever make one by chance?
Looks SOLID

Looking for a 6" square, either galvanized steel or aluminum post for fencing for horizontal wood planks. Any ideas where I can find them?

Is it necessary to seal a fence (redwood) that has had an oil-based stain applied? If so, what is the recommended sealer?
Hello I am a fence contractor in Florida,I feel like over time with no middle rail pickets will warp?
Same thought I had haha
I thought it immediately

Do you galvanize your welds; and if so, how?
hey Joe, so you guys don't ship to Central Maryland. Got any alternatives for getting that frame? I assume I can get the shark hinge latch elsewhere?

Hey Joe! Finally getting to installing my hinges I bought from you. Question… what size steel are you using for the frame?
We use 1.5”x1.5” square galvanized
@@JoeEverest thank you sir.
@@JoeEverest is 1.5 “ a true 1.5” or is it 1.25”?
can i ask why you didn't divide that last picket over the width of the gate so each picket was slightly smaller and not a noticeable sliver?
I went back and re-watched this, the video is a couple years old I think, and I would have to agree. Great catch, thanks for watching!
@@JoeEverest not my idea actually, I'm in a Joe Everest and SWI rabbit hole and had just seen them discussing it in a video.
Can you do some videos on sliding gates? Not motorized please
Hey Joe! Do you happen to do work in California? Specifically the San Bernardino area? I’d love to hear from you!
Unfortunately not, love to visit though!
Can you provide a materials list, it's hard to find out everything I need?
Hey buddy… how’s it going… love all your videos… keep up the great work…
Thanks so much!
I'm not sure why the heck you would slope the gate framework the facia boards can be stopped instead.
That's how I would do it tooo
Good fences make good neighbors
Lol
Top notch work
Thanks Chris, appreciate you watching and weighing in!
I'm in Detroit Michigan, is that still 24" depth hole or should I go lower for the frost line?
No, you would want to stay a minimum of 6” below the frost line in your area.
This looks so much better than the old method of using wood posts
Agreed, and much longer lasting!
Is this too much weight for south louisiana?
I don’t see the link? Can you give the link where this can be purchased
ozfence.store/collections/wood-gate-hardware
Good stuff
Thanks!
As much as I would like to build a gate like this, finding that kind of material where I live is almost impossible.
U should list links to the parts
Linked in the description.
Can you build a sturdy steel frame like that, but then put a matching wooden facing on it, to hide the hardware?
Hmm, possibly but I’d be worried about the additional weight and the possibility of binding up the hardware.
It looks super strong, but it's not pretty. Anyway to cosmetically improve the aesthetics?
Why did you not flip the latch?
This gate swings in, so we did have to flip the latch. This latch presentation is actually the reverse of what you would typically see.

What hinge company is that?
The Shark product line is produced by Forney Fence out of Texas, the purchase link can be found in the description!

Welding on a previously galvanized metal will give off poison gas, so the galvanizing needs to be removed first.
Or wear a respirator.
I call it; the terminater gate
Its not a wood gate. Its a metal gate with wood fascia
Frame looks good but the pickets and install looks awful. So awkward looking.
Well, thankfully you could do a better job, I'm sure!
Hehe
You're not really helping me to make a gate if you're using parts you made yourself. How am I supposed to use this?
He said, “the people who sell the hinge, sell an adjustable gate frame, we only custom made this because of the slope”
It looks complex and a little ugglies
