Man that color came out fantastic. Nice job.
Im getting all kinds of flake & candy ideas for my 66 Nova hot rod. Now just need to find a shop willing to take on a big project. Not many shops interested in doing candy & flake on cars anymore.
At last, somebody who speaks plainly on the subject.
I have a voodoo purple Dyna with peel off rust paint on rear fender. I think harley factory used silver flakes instead of purple glitter flakes and purple candy coated finish. this video is the best way to repair the paint
Oregon baby! Fender came out nice.
Wow that's beautiful! A tip I would have that will save time for buffing is to go slightly slower on your passes with the clear. It uses a little more paint, but the finish will be smoother.
fast passes with high fluid flow is for pros
Everyone's an Expert hence that's why they tune in. Keyboard Critics suck. Enjoy and stop with the BS. I tuned in cause I'm doing a similar 2 tone paint job on a sport bike and wanted to see how yours came out. The tank and upper fairings are black, and I wanted to flake em a bit and was curious if the candy would change it that much. Guess it does.....so flake and clear it is. I already got Purple on the Fender and lower fairing. Thanks for the show. Appreciate it. Besides every bike goes faster in Black.....
@@anonimous2451 That's why I'm painting my boat black and red, it will be way faster!!!! The fish love the sparkles in the metalflake, they'll be coming from all over the lake to check it out. It's gonna be great!!!!
@@agentorange2554 The red will slow you down. It thinks your bleeding and respects the fact you MIGHT DIE.....
Great video…I was going back and forth between size of the flake. It will definitely pop!
That is Beautiful. You said to say what you did wrong and you missed a very large spot. Its my 1992 F-350 Diesel.... :) .. Thumbs up to you
BRING IT ON OVER and the inflatable Paint booth as well. Prolly 2-3 days in the 80 degree range would work very nicely. And of course you already sanded and prepped it right?
Made it look easy , def like the purple amd that sparkle
Wow that looks beautiful, I never considered purple as a paint choice but I'm a changed man.🎉
What a delicious colour!
This is incredible brother! I love that color phenomenal work
Whoa that's beautiful
Great job
Do you have a video from how it is looking in the sun? I am so curious. I love it!!
Looks good
Tip always pull triger when loosening and tightning the tip or u will scar them
Wow watching that fender rock back and forth and leaning sideways had me a nervous wreck. 😳
😂😂
Beautiful... did u put base over all of those burn through rings? Or did u put some kind of primer down first? I'd hate to see that Beautiful work ring out when the sun starts baking those solvents underneath 😢
I see only two things that might compromise the paint job. First after you finished sending, you can see you didn't get around all the rivets. Any spots that aren't sanded will peel over time. Secondly, the two spots that were sanded down past the dark color will show in the sunlight. Its best to do your sanding then spray a solid primer to cover all body work with one color, then sand again and finally your color to get a uniform coverage. It turned out nice though. Just a couple of tips if you're interested.
220 is way too rough to mid sand, use 400-600-800
Ya you want finer scratches for the flake to lay flat. Also a 1.8 gun is rather large. That big is more for polyester primer. A 1.3-4 is more ideal. Imo.
Nice job man
Gahhhhhhhh damn that kandy is wet
I'm not normally a fan of purple but after you painted that, that is sick son! NICE!
2:50 I have that same scale, but mine has keef on it not paint.
Lol
Looks great man! I'd say you got it!
Lazy susan nice touch.
brother that is a sweet color.nice work.whats the name of that color.
Fucking awesome
I have a 2016 road glide would like price to paint the bike.
Not bad kid
This color would look good on my 84 square body
nice work. It looks Amazing. i will like to get that color on my 1987 Toyota Celica Gt.
Damn homeboy u got down, Bad Ass paint job love that color..
Did you mix the candy with the same 2k clear? Or with an inter coat clear?
This was poor execution & a poor attempt. Lazy prep means everything else just falls down
Hi im from Philippines I love your work in inspire to you give me some paint pls🥺
How NOT to spray!!!
Keep the good work man..waiting for more videoss❤️
Thanks going to show it to you once I finish it’ll be a few months
Looks good I would have stripped to bare metal because i got a reaction once on factory paint ? Lol just my luck
I have a question noob here did u primer black then put flakes in ur clear coat then spray the purple base over that then another layer of clear??
When I did my fenders I mig welded the brackets on the inside and eliminated the rivets for a smoother look. Why don’t you use a strainer for the primer? I realize that you’re going to sand the fender after priming but any little piece of trash could clog up the tip. So why not strain the primer ?
Primer always seems too thick for a strainer and since I’m using a bigger tip I have never had any issue with clogging.
We used to tape paper on the table in the mixing booth and change it out when it got jacked. Good job dude
Do you have de color code for that purple candy?? Awesome work brooooouuuuuu
Looks amazing man 💜💜💜
purple candy over black with flake . looks good to me
Nonsense skipping steps taking shortcuts, overlooking flaws yields inferior quality right out of the gate, you can't fix the inner flaws unless you sand them out, or buff them out doing a multi coat layered lacquer buildup, after wet sanding with 220 400, 600, down to an even smooth surface, wipe with a wax/grease remover, re prime with a self etching primer, wet sand lightly 400 & 600, use a midcoat adhesion promoter, add base coat, then candy, pearl, clear in the order specified by the manufacturer's formula, let it cure with infrared for extra time, then take a razorblade slightly round off the corners and scrape the nibs off get down to sight along the surface level and gently but smoothly draw the blade perpendicular toward yourself, until the scrapes are uniform with no low spots, carefully hit the piece with 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, and 3,000, compound to a deep clear finish with a moderately rigid buffing pad, flexible enough to bend with the contour, wash off with a degreaser,, treat with a midcoat adhesion promoter again and re-apply anothet clear coat, repeat for a minimum of 3 up to as many as it takes to achieve your goal, each diligent effort and even coat application requires less rough grit wet sanding work, when you no longer need the razor blade for nib scraping, because there are no nibs, don't scrape unless there's a sag or a run, droop, bloop, then just use the finest grit possible to smooth out the imperfections and prepare the final coat, cure each coat under infrared for the required time, then after final coat, just polish with mirror glaze until you can see yourself in 3D from across a gymnasium, or as close as possible to a dark pool of reflective liquid completely still, that's the color of choice, wash with a mild degreaser, blow off with air hose, let it cute 1 mo time, then show the product to someone
Hey Tom sounds like you should make a video showing us the way you would do it
Does using that black base coat before the flake make the paint overall darker like it would without metal flake
Would a silver vase coat and metal flake make it lighter
Yes it would be lighter
That end result colour looks amazing !!
It definitely is.
Nice color - NEATO. Have a nice day all. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
No offense, but anyone to let the outside of the paint gun to look like that I will never follow what you say! It takes less than a minute to clean the outside of that gun. I painted aircraft in the Navy, and my guns never looked like that. Had spray guns that where 2 years old, and looked new. Clean the outside man. You would be surprised how much contamination comes from the outside if that gun when yiu spray
Paint jobs look pretty good to me
Would be great without that horrible music
Like
Do a shot every time he says "primer!" 🤪
Just curious how the paint has held up since?
Awesome paintwork 👌
superb colour.. good job..!
Ist it possible to do this in this way with a white?
Good job so the flake first

Dam that's nice can u do my mini truck
The more you continue to wiping fender with bare hands the more oils youre putting on project
🤷🏼♂️ seems to be working for me
Where can I buy some metal flakes
Looks up Roth metal flake on google.
What clear did you use
Looks good man what clear did you use?
Love the DIY booth dope on many levels
Colour is fantastic
So you shoot the candy directly on the flake?
(I’m in the middle of my first flake/candy guitar)
Didn't scuff it at all around the rivets so be flaking off there first
Paints still good
Hi mate; if I may I want to ask you about the silver flakes; how the gun is not clogged? Or is an special flake for normal guns? What is the number of the pointer?
I am asking due to in this Country there is no those big metal flakes and I am searching for alternatives.
Thanks
I was using a 1.4 is this video

Always use a strainer with primer
🤷🏼♂️
I think you did a good job...
Beautiful color 👌
What else do you mix with the clear coat and the flakes?????Do you mix hardener and thinner(reducer I believe??????)
4:1 mix ratio for the clear coat I used and 10% reducer
Awesome!
P220 ?
The only advice GET BIGGER PLACE TO PAINT 😁...the paint job looks NICE.
Have to work with what you have sometimes.
Adhesion promoter?
None

do u have a link ?
Search “house of kolor” and you will find all their kandy colors and other products they sell.
Wow thar t a butt load paint layers on that fender 😆 Ive ha d quite alot of second hand guitsr like that man . i hate wjen people thsy dont lnow what they are doing get ajold of guitars oh boy. For me i just strip them back to the epoxy sealer and start from scaratch.
Ya stripping them down is the best way to go.
@@stevenragsdale7429 yep aint that truth i take them down to the resin sealer then start fresh. yeah you never know what its sprayed with.
Why don't you put the flakes on top of the candy then clear coat.
That wasn’t the look I was going for
Sand scratches show through no shit
Perfect end result for colouring
BEAUTIFUL JOB!
Thank you
Great video. Do you sand the flake down and clear coat again? And how long do you let the flame layer sit before the next coat? Thanks again man. 🤙🏼
Burry the flake under the clear coat/Kandy without sanding
I want to paint my car a smoked grey candy with flake what would be my order with bare metal?
