If you don't care to Export -> Import, you can use the "Move/Copy Bodies" command, there are two modes you can be in; "Constraints", or "Translate/Rotate". Check the help for more information.

There are videos stating you need to create reference geometry and assign the origin then save it out with the new origin but this only seems to work if the planes are aligned when they are imported, for parts for ex. catia where the part is in air plane coordinates I cannot seem to change the origin.... tried a lot videos... only way for me to through the day is to translate the origin in catia and save out...

    Off-topic question:
When I click and drag my left mouse button, SolidWorks 2015 defaults to selection/highlight. Any way I can default the left mouse button to rotate? I've googled all sorts of ways to fix this, but ultimately I've reluctantly settled on a keyboard shortcut to enable "rotate view".

Can this be done in a .prt/.sldprt file? If so, how do I save it in order for the new cordinate system to be taken as the global one?
