I experienced the same issue matt cole found. But actually its not a bug, its the setting named K-Factor. You can enter a value there which adds material automatically when the material is bend/folded. Standardvalue is 0,5, make it to 1,0 and u will get the same length in both conditions.
Other issue I found is on the flat pattern Solidworks doesn't recognize the feature as a circle. That will be a splin instead. Do you have the same issue?
Is there a way to transform a solid cylinder which I already worked on (cuts , holes and stuff) to sheet metal ? Basically I did a vase and know I want to flattened it to see how the laser cut will be. Thanx
How about if we make extrusion in that half round sheet metal with let say 2 diameter with offset ( x coordinate) from the center 25%. Does it mean that if we unfold this extruded part, solidwors works will give us unfolded 2" diameter circle which become some elliptical shape. And geometry of elipse that we receive will be accurate?
Hi, I did exactly that on a piece, but when a try to make a draw of the objetc, solidworks doesn't reconise the hole like diameters, I can't put quotes on it. Please help! And sorry for the bad english. =(
this is great however im trying to roll a piece that the fixed edge is not parrallel to the other edge. so i flatten in out using "unfold" cut it to desired shape, lets say a circle or a triangle using "extruded cut" but then have problems when comes time to refold it using "fold"
I've seen the same issue as Matt Cole. Try changing K-Factor setting to Bend Deduction. Make this value 2X your material thickness. Flat pattern dimensions should match those of your bent sheet metal parts.
I tried to add a louver using the forming tools but it I get a warning when I fold it,"Warning the following features were lost while folding/unfolding bends. Currently only simple through holes arfe supported inside a bend region:LOUVER." IS there any way for me to put louvers on the inside of the cylinder?
The problem I have found with this is that the length of the sheet metal changes drastically when unbent due to a bug in the calculations within Solidworks.
Very helpful. Exactly what I was looking for. 😊
Thank you so much i literally have 3 more hours in my day because of that tip,
thanks again

Thank you so much, exactly what I needed.

Thanks a lot sir
Hey, if the part is at some angle and curved, these holes gets stretched, can you share a video for solution
Comprehensive, helpful, and exactly what I was looking for.
What is the correct k factor to use considering calendered parts (obtained by calendering)?
Perfect... Just what I needed.. thank you for your time !!
Have you ever tried to insert a hem on any edge whether the sheet metal is rolled or flatten ?
Thank you. huge help when others were not
nice clear as a crystal ball
Is it possible to add a flange on a curved sheet metal?
Hi. Is there a way to radius the corners of the flat panel? I can put holes in the panel but won't let me fillet the corners..regards
Thanks, just what I needed for a simple rolled sheet metal feature.
what version has that seeting? im using a 2015 and can't find the tool.

thank you so much for this vedio.
Thank you that was great

фигасе... наконец то узнал как делать отверстия на закругленных поверхностях!!! Пасиба епт.... :)

You saved my day.
Thanks for the support.
Great tutorial. Helped a lot.
How about if you cut out a tab in it and what that tab to be flat while the rest is folded?
Can you make both edges meet to form a pipe?
The problem I have found with this is that the length of the sheet metal changes drastically when unbent due to a bug in the calculations within Solidworks.
What about embossing? Solidworks says there are features that cannot be unbent
did not help my case, i have the flat imported and i have to roll it for a specified inner diameter
Why we do checked mark on NORMAL CUT and LINK TO THICKNESS diring extrude cut in solidworks !!
Can you make formed repads?
much thanks to you good sir
TY!
Awesome ... thanks!
great, easy, friendly viedeo... 10 our of 10
👏👏👏
Thank you
Sir one side radius increased and opposite side radius decreased its possible.so provide the vedio
Thanks bro!!

my dear friends please I want help . I want same this work in AutoCAD . what this possible.
thanks so much
gracias, muy bueno
Nice
thank you mega
thanks for helping
