Nice advice. Very informative. But foreign tourists might also be interested in seeing tropical mountains, cliffs along crashing shores, rice terraces, hanging coffins, cultural dances, historical buildings and towns. For these, the Philippines is not just islands and beaches. It's so much more. 🙂
Yes, exactly! I’ve been to the Philippines once before and the beaches are gorgeous indeed. But there’s so much culture and unique places to discover too!
Perfect timing is December till April, so avoid the snow in the UK while being in the beach. Cost, well compared to the UK, everything is 10x cheaper! Makes sense to live here part of the year! And the people are kind, English speaking!

Thank you for the time and effort you took to make this amazing video which is important to me as I’m travelling to the Philippines on the 27th this month. I’m meeting my fiancé at Manila airport and we will stay a week in Manila and then get a two day ferry ride to iligan city where we will be living, actually just outside in Lanao Del Norte, 10 minutes away from the beautiful waterfalls. ❤ oh yes and I’m also from the UK 🇬🇧 Norwich city 😉
The best months ti be in the Philippines is April May June. This is the flowering and fruiting season. There is abundance of mangoes, papayas, bananas, soursop, and some other types of fruits you havent seen
I don't agree with the hotels... I stayed 3 nights in a luxury flat for £52.. depends where you go, I suppose? This stay was in Baguio, which I HIGHLY recommend any tourist to go!! ❤❤
thanks for the info on the whale sharks - done some research and didn't know they were an endangered species, will be avoiding now 👍 thanks for your education!
Some Filipino men can be fresh at times like staring, saying something or whistle, even I as filipina growing up there have experienced that. But just ignore them & be in a crowd, there's safety in numbers and someone is bound to help you if needed.
Thank you for the information! I'm going to Manila this summer, and this information should be very helpful to it! Also, I would like to ask if you need an international driver's licence for riding the scooter mentioned in the video?
Thank you so much for all the information! I am going for 2 weeks in December but finding it hard to decide where to go. Where would you recommend is a must for 2 weeks?
For your information sir. Jeepny engine now a days are mostly from japan surplus. No more us engine. All are hooded by filipno welders and cheaper compared to factory made locomotives
Feeding the whale sharks are better than eating whale sharks. In Oslob, they used to hunt and kill whale sharks. Now, they provide livelihood to the residents through ecotourism. It’s a win-win situation for the sharks and the locals.
There’s still a lot more that can be done, it’s over crowded and they aren’t there naturally anymore like in Donsol, and Lyete, who are doing a great job!
@@Joelfriend I used to be one of those Filipinos who didn't understand that there are still a lot of improvements that can be done with regards to the whale shark watching in Oslob. Now, for me, it doesn't seem natural anymore. I get it. It's overcrowded and very touristy. And it doesn't seem to be as safe for the whale sharks as I used to think. Go to Donsol instead.
Very informative thank you. I’m thinking of doing a tour to the west of Philippines can you tell me what’s the night life in Palawan, El Nido and Coron?
Hello Joel , Nice video .. We will be there in June . Booked 8 days in Siargao. What one other place would you recommend? ( we are flying in and out of Cebu )
Yes @ebo5739. Those news you've heard or read in the media are not completely true. They distract the public not to come so they can only enjoy the Philippines by themselves. Don't always believe what you've heard in your surroundings. Most people in the world don't know what they are talking about. It was those old days some conflict occured in the Philippines a long time ago. Now it's completely different. These vloggers will not come to the Philippines if it is not safe. Watch other vloggers and follow them like Always Be Changing, Jumping Places, Travel Escape, Brent Contie, Christian Lost le Blanc, Kristi Travel Escape and of course Joel Friend to name a few. These vloggers captured the real Philippines and how foreign vloggers and travellers around the world keep coming back to the Philippines. Of course, you have to be cautious of your surroundings and don't let your guards down, not only in the Philippines, but the rest of the world.
Great video Joel! I am going there in few months and I was wondering how does it work with checked luggage in the flight? If I wanna book my flights in advance I cannot always choose for checked luggage (only up to 10kg's). Is this an issue or can you just buy at the airport?
Ang pricey talaga magtravel dito sa atin. Mas gugustuhin mo na lang magtravel OUT OF THE COUNTRY dahil usually mas makakamura ka pa. But yeah, maganda pa rin talaga sa Pinas.
Nice video. I’m just a single 41 year old guy. How would you find a personal guide who won’t try to scam you but will help you once landed in the Philippines? I’m from the United States and never been outside of the US.
From a local perspective, you can exchange your US$ at the airport, or at money change counters in the malls (in Manila, Cebu). Or you can withdraw from your bank account thru ATMs that dispense Philippine Peso. Word of caution though to bring cash when headed to the province like El Nido where ATMs come far in between, not to mention instances when they are out of service.
@@chitocucio4573 Usually I avoid airport for currency exchange.. I found an exchange (Core Pacific Money Exchange) just 3 mins by walk from my Manila Hotel, it should work. Yes of course I will change money before going to El Nido because I read that sometimes it's difficult to pay by card or withdraw money from ATM in general
Very informative, thank you for giving us some ideas and tips for traveling around the Philippines. I'll subscribe to you in case you will go back to the Philippines and we'll definitely watch it
the most important is EVERY ONE speaks English. Even in the deepest jungles or mountains where civilization is nowhere, you will be surprised. By the time children are in kindergarten, English is taught the same time as Tagalog. Courtesy of the American system in place during the early 20th century. I know foreigners who have been there YEARS and only spoke like, 20 Tagalog words the entire time. A lot of resorts and neighborhoods in remote islands have Elon Musk's Starlink so wifi is not an issue.

Philippines don't encourage mass tourism just like Thailand. It will be spoiled with too much tourism. Backpackers are enjoying the Philippines , one of the reasons is the less crowd. you can also enjoy an islands alone .
