Given his opening, one could have presumed he was talking about the abuse of children by the clergy. But everything that they bring up as issues instead speaks to their priorities.
I actually grew up in the methodist church. Was a loyal devoit confirmed Christian who went to youth group every Wednesday and regular service every sunday. Methodists are BY FAR the best protestant denomination specifically because of how tolerant and open minded they are. They show up, sing some happy upbeat songs, and go to the weekly potluck after the Sunday service. I'm an atheist now, but will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Methodists. This guy shitting on them is the most obvious giveaway that he's a total bigot.
Can confirm. I am an agnostic who still likes to go to church specifically because of how cozy the community is. Deeply troubling that they aren't the majority of Christians in this country--we would be better off if they were!
Yeah I concur. I still miss my childhood Methodist Pastor Dude was fucking awesome and hilarious. It's so odd to see them involved in this sort of drama based on my own limited experience
Agnostic/atheist here that grew up United Methodist They have a "many paths" ideology when it comes to other sects and religions entirely, they have openly gay ministers, they teach the gospels with a bit of satire where there is an emphasis on who the author is of each book that rounds out why some stories are told one way or another, ministers are only at one church for a limited amount of years, then you get a totally new perspective when they rotate, and in general they just kind of do their own low key thing. Typical church congregation drama still applies lol But for me personally, they kindest thing they provided was the opportunity to just say that I don't believe any of it without any fear of being "shunned" or exiled or have any negative pressure placed on my family or anything like that. They are much more concerned about sincerity than compliance. Sad to see the church is splitting, but thrilled to see the bigots are the ones being pushed out.
"Because this church stood on a thing I agree with, they are real Christians. But if I find tomorrow they believe a thing I don't, everything I said about them being a 'true church' will be a lie." -- Bearded Biblethumper, probably. Yep, working only in those absolutes is such a nice, efficient way to make arguments and live one's life. /s
It's okay, Jake. I laughed at the name, too. We all did. Pretty sure his parents did when they gave it to him. It's fine to laugh, it's not his fault, it's their fault. We're laughing at the absurdity of their cruelty, not the unfathomable depths of his misfortune.
I think this might be the first time I have seen Protestant Infighting like this. Especially with the Methodist Church. Besides, usually it's Protestant VS Catholics, and Protestant & Catholics VS Orthodox.
I’m gonna go with MAC-uh-lily. A lot of Mc names that have a vowel for the second capital letter are pronounced that way, such as McEneny (MAC-uh-neh-nee).
I was raised in a Methodist church and while I'm not religious any more I'm still pleasantly surprised a couple times a year when the United Methodist Church as an organization or a random church across the country actually take a good progressive stance.
I can't get passed his inability to use the correct words. "Blaring" instead of glaring and atrocity instead of . . . yeah, I don't even know what word he wanted there.
This is nothing new. Christian infighting has been going on for as long as Christianity's been around: look up Arian Christianity, the council of Nicea, the Great Schism and the Reformation for starters.
That's true. In fact earliest Christianity was the most divided, in the first and second centuries, and it's also where we have the least information about.
They need all the different gospels to cherry pick to cobble together something none of the books ever said individually. Even then every gospel, the letters of Paul and the Jesus from Revelation are all different and all contain heresy according to most churches theology. LOL
I don't think that's a No true scottsman I think its an equivocation. A no true scottsman would be like if a Christian says "Anyone who reads the bible is a Christian." and when you point out Jews and Muslims read the bible as well they say "well of course they're not christian their bible isn't called a bible"
Constantine had to tell christians to get their act together and get some "universal" "cough" catholic theology they all could agree on because all christians have ever done is argue over which Jesus is real. See: Paul vs the original apostles. LOL

I've heard they're less extreme even in a secular household growing up.
Yeah I concur.

I'm as atheist as they come but I am happy to go to Church when they're tolerant of my beliefs and sexual orientation.

'What kind of "Christians" are these people? I bet they don't even lift or use beard oil!'
It's funny how he pretty much implied that diversity and inclusion are antithetical to his idea of Christianity.
God punishing Adam and Eve is like punishing a puppy for eating an unattended sandwich.
That you put in front of it.

'Pursuit of perfection' always and forever will scream Borg

The UMC has been infighting about this for decades
How can someone named Brayden be so judgey? lmao
"I'm not into that but if you are hit me up so I can shame you for it"
Subbed for the lesbian lava lamp c:
JK but seriously I was staring at that thing

24:48 "So they're diverse and inclusive.. and they claim **biblical** as well? 🙄"
He's got a point. That's not biblical at all.
I can't get passed his inability to use the correct words. "Blaring" instead of glaring and atrocity instead of . . . yeah, I don't even know what word he wanted there.
Yes, christinan universities are dangerous, but not for the reason he thinks it is.
More like crystal methodist
I like turtles 🐢🐢🐢

The way this guy obsesses over the queer community, he's GOT to have some wild ass skeletons in that closet of his...
and then what Yahweh said would happen didnt happen after the fruit

Another obvious closet case.
