I have to comment before I have finished watching this episode. Imagine my surprise about 7 minutes in when I saw a picture of my car (under a tree). You must have been the mother and daughter Sebastion mentioned when he told me you too were attending the Fibre Festival. My friends and I made it back to Massachusetts on Tuesday, in that car. It will need some body work but we are safe and sound
I love to hear about people who, by chance, meet up with someone who helps them find their passion/talents. If this man had never met Kaffe Fassett, perhaps he would never have found, developed and shared his gift. Great interview.
When Andrea put on the blue cap I thought of Andrew, brought tears to my eyes in remembrance,. A hurricane makes every neighborhood a village - not in Florida - but have dealt in many hurricanes here in Connecticut. I did love that the hurricane is named Fiona !!!
Please don’t believe the things you see on the news. Everywhere here in the path of Ian’s destruction people are helping one another, those with chainsaws cutting the huge fallen trees, those who have it sharing power, others helping to clean up enormous amounts of debris, and people sharing food since the grocers had to close, and so much more that doesn’t make the news.
I got back from my trip to PEI about a week ago. I had driven from Arizona and crossed from Quebec into New Brunswick at 2 a.m. on Friday when I got word that the festival had been canceled. My reason for coming was to meet the two of you so I was very disappointed, but I knew it wouldn't be safe. Seeing your footage of the downed trees confirms that there would have been nowhere safe for my camper van. Hopefully the festival will ask you back next year. if so, I'll be there. I still have a lot of maritime Canada to see!
Great episode, thank you. Brandon interview was so enjoyable and informative. After 4 years knitting and spinning in grey, beige and cream, I’m branching out into colours and have a lot of catching up to do! What an interesting and engaging guy he is. Thanks to you and Madeleine, too.
Thanks for another great episode, produced despite the difficulties. I was so looking forward to meeting both of you at the Fibre Festival, but we retreated to our daughter's home in Nova Scotia before the storm. Sustained some damage to our camper van, but we all survived intact. And luckily, you can knit with a headlamp while waiting for the power to return! Looking forward to your interviews on PEI, and your next adventures.
No one prepares better for an interview than Andrea, and it really shows. Madeline is a great partner with her wide interests and perspective. Fruity Knitting is reliably interesting, varied, and eclectic over many episodes. You have expanded my love of knitting and my knowledge of designers and techniques over the years, even though I was already a long-time knitter when I began watching. I hope everyone who watches appreciates the love and effort you put in and becomes a PATRON!
What a wonderful interview! Brandon Mabley is definitely a treasure, a skilled artisan in his own right. Great job Andrea and Madeline. Well done to both of you for managing to be positive through the storm, I hope you have some sunny days soon.
You offer such rich interviews with smooth flow and full of information. I am so glad you explained the Fiona hurricane. I had no idea why it came so close to our Canadian coast.
I’m glad you both were able to ride out the storm safely. I loved your interview with Brandon Mobley. He seems like such a kind and inspirational person.
That was the best explanation of Fiona, with diagrams even! Glad you weathered the storm safely and in good company. Fun and inspiring interview with Brandon and lovely knitting and yarns too. Well done and I look forward to Fiona Part 2. Years ago I was camping in a tent on PEI during the tail end of a hurricane, just very strong wind, that was bad enough!
How nice to get to know Brandon. I think he got his wish to be a teacher. He loves what he does in designing and brings such passion to teaching about it. ❤
Fabulous interview with Brandon. His warmth and positive energy are infectious! Brandon and Kaffe are international treasures. So glad that you and Madeleine made the best of a rough situation in PEI. Looking forward to the artists that you interviewed while there.
Hello, Andrea and Madeleine. It’s so good to see you today in Canada! I forgot that you were going to be here. It was fun to see you with the Cabin Boys; I follow their podcast. I wish that I could have been there to meet you. Enjoy the rest of your time in my beautiful country❤️❤️ BTW… I loved the interview with Brandon😊
Sad to see the fallen trees and damage on PEI, but happy to see the knitters keeping their spirits up, and so glad you were able to meet Kim at Fleece and Fiber. Looking forward to those interviews, well done ladies
loved this episode so much! what a lovely bloke is Brandon and Andrea you had me snorting with laughter when you prompted him to wave goodbye at the end
Lovely interview! Very informative about colour and to "meet" a charming gentleman. The two jumpers you and Medaline are wearing are beautiful! Your smiles light up my day.
Thank you so much for working so hard to post this. I've been so worried about everyone down there. I must say Andrea, that wearing the hat with the dangling circular needles is a good look...made me laugh which is important these days. What a great interview! HUgs
We've been so busy with tree work and clean up but now I finally have internet again and can catch up on videos! It's really too bad that Fiona came the one weekend of the festival, I was so looking forward to it, but I'm glad that at least you got to see the island a bit and do your interviews. I hope you'll give us another chance for next year's festival! They're planning it for AFTER hurricane season this time :P
Aaw thank you for knitting my Lake Reed pattern Madeleine. i'm just catching up on all the episodes i've missed since my maternity leave :) Yes i have a really tight gauge 😅 hugs Asita
Thank you for another great episode with the two of you! I'm really sitting there smiling all the time for the wonderful spirit you radiate! Especially now you have been stuck in Canada with a hurricane and no electricity. I hope, the island management can get the lines up in the foreseeable future, it looks like a demanding project :-(. You are so brave! 😍
So sorry your trip to Canada was so traumatic! And that the first time PEI Fiber Festival was cancelled. Next year maybe aim for Manitoba Fiber Festival a couple of weeks earlier. This was its 10th year. It is on the prairies so no danger of such a hurricane.
Thank you for another inspiring episode. I’m missing the two little girls at the end of the program. Bring them back. Wishing you a safe journey back to Germany.
Lake Reed is a fantastic hat pattern! I've made it twice and it's a great unisex hat :) Glad you ladies weathered the hurricane and have the best attitude about it!
So glad you have been able to experience the Maritime hospitality! Hopefully you’ll be want to travel more in Canada 🇨🇦 My family and I lived in Nova Scotia when Hurricane Juan blast it’s way through…. Something I don’t ever want to experience again! Once in a lifetime, thank you. To hear, feel and see the power of Mother Nature is no joke. So glad you are both smiling, and able to produce another great episode.
A fascinating interview with Brandon. It was interesting to note how other careers/skills can be transferred into the world of textile design. Brandon's training in cooking makes me wonder if the skill of maintaining an orderly, efficient kitchen is what he was then able to offer to Kaffe's studio space. And Andrea's music background when she so nicely articulated the benefit of discord in order to appreciate harmony.
Very Very Juicy. Lovely program Andrea and Madeleine. What a lesson in freedom and stand back when you look at your work. Golden lessons. Thank you so much.
Another fabulous episode despite difficult circumstances so thank you and well done. I hope you are toasty now, with heat and power. I did a colour workshop with Brandon at a Knitting & Crochet Guild convention and he was a brilliant teacher. I love to see his work. Safe travels home guys .
The friendly, laid back personality is a Canadian experience but a Maritime one in particular🤗 So glad you made it through the hurricane safely and Newfoundlanders are so much fun to party with🥰. Hope the rest of your trip is safe and you get to do some of the things you wanted to. The other end of North America is being blown apart with an even stronger hurricane today, I’m sending them love and thoughts of safety. I’m in Nova Scotia and we were on the leading edge of landfall so lots of trees are down, many people still have no power , hopefully soon. We are back up and running and lights to knit. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. 🙋🏼♀️🥰
What a blessing that you are safe. What an unexpected trip! The cabled hat is really lovely, and the wool colors are stunning! Thank you for the interlude to a day of hurriedness.
We returned from a holiday in Newfoundland one week before Fiona hit Atlantic Canada. I think that you and Madeleine would love it there. The people are amazing and the hiking in Gros Morne park is incredible. Glad that you are both safe on PEI and thanks for another great episode with Brandon. What a character!
So glad everyone is safe! Glad you fulfilled your hurricane curiosity. 😊 how sad the fiber festival had to be canceled again. Now I have time to save up and maybe attend the next time they have it scheduled. Another wonderful program ladies!
I just loved this episode. You two are so good at what you do and it’s a pleasure to be informed and inspired and look forward to the next episode. Thank you so much❤
Happy you were able to ride the storm in Canada. I’m currently enduring Ian with a welcome rainfall for my area along the Atlantic Coast in the States. Your interview with Brandon was so whimsical. He has really matured with his designs and remember the ones from the ‘90s. I happen to have the book you featured in my extensive Rowan collection. Andrea, thanks for keeping Brandon focused on the subject…he is a talker. I hope he brings his workshops back to this area since in-person events are occurring again. Thanks again.!❤❤
I was so sad that Fiona came along ... the Fibre Festival was going to be a highlight of our three weeks spent in the Maritimes. We were in a borrowed 32' long, almost 12' high RV and knew we had to flee in the face of Fiona as we would only be seen as a huge sail. We did have a wonderful time seeing most of Cape Breton and, if you still have time, would recommend visiting Opulent Alpaca in Inverness. They gave us a quick tour of their "mini mill" even thought they were getting ready to pack of for the festival. I hope they didn't have to make the trip before the event was canceled. I plan to order some of their yarn on-line since the opportunity to do so at the marketplace didn't happen. And, if you can stay a couple more weeks, the huge event in Rhinebeck, NY would be another wonderful opportunity. My husband and I just drove through there on our way home, wish we could hang around for two more weeks! Thanks for the update and photos, afraid the American news is now focused on Ian and Florida so we don't get lot of news of Nova Scotia and PEI. And, yes, lemons to lemonade, congratulations to you both!
Glad ya'll are safe! Madeline is a chip off her Dad's block...great info on hurricane! Love it! The hat and yarn is so beautiful 😍. You model the hat so well Andrea! The interview with Brandon Mobly was so interesting ! Motivates me to look more at geometric designs! Great Job 👍
I love listening to true artists speaking! They seem to look at the world like it is one big canvas, inspiration can be drawn from everywhere. Love it. Thank you.
Hi, when you said that you stayed the first thing that popped into my head was they wanted to experience a hurricane. I'm glad you're all right but experiencing a hurricane is not something I recommend. Maybe it's because I know how devastating they can be (from family experience) or maybe it's because we just had Ian come through here in Florida. It was basically nothing but a big rain and windstorm here in Miami. We were so lucky here not like the rest of Florida. I'm glad you are both ok and I hope you get home safely from your adventure.

I was wondering what you were going to do because of the hurricane. So glad both of you came through safely, and that despite the festival being cancelled, you were still able to get interviews done. I look forward to listening to those in the future!
Wonderful video! I’m watching this as we have hurricane Ian making landfall in Florida. I loved the interview with Brandon Mobley! Such an interesting person and art! Also I loved the hat that Madeleine made! I thought it was Andrew’s hat 🥲. Very beautiful! 🌸
Andrea, OMG “my dad myself “ . Andrew would frequently give the scientific or historic background of castles or areas of travel. You do yourself and carry on your dad’s interests and legacy! What a thrill! Happy trails!!
Another awesome video! So sorry you had such a windy welcome to PEI, but nice to see you made the best of your time. Here in southern NS there was very little damage. Loved the inspiring Brandon segment.

Whew! Yes I've experienced two previous hurricanes while visiting Atlantic Canada - very glad to hear you weathered it although there was so much destruction. Very much looking forward to seeing more of your interviews on P.E.I. Loved the interview with Brandon - truly heart-lifting to hear how his new life was launched meeting Kaffe.
I was in the east coast when the hurricane hit, but in New Brunswick an only experienced the high winds and a little rain. I spent many a summer on PEI and feel such pain for all those who have been impacted by the hurricane. I was so sad to hear that the fibre festival was cancelled, but boy they made the right decision! Next year the date is outside of hurricane season. So happy to know that you both are safe and sound. Climate change is so real and so dangerous for all. Be well and I hope your return home is uneventful.
My sister and I had arrived for the festival on Wednesday evening. We were touring around Thursday morning when we got the news. We left the island immediately. It was almost a 4000 kilometre round trip. I am so disappointed not to have been able to meet you! I am one of your patrons. I am so glad you are safe - I hope you come back to Canada soon - preferably in the Toronto area 😊🇨🇦🇫🇮

Nice to see you two again 💖Madeline looks so much like her dad!
"We all look better from a distance, and so does our work." What a classic ...... will try and remember that one.
Madeleine, I love the educational portion of the show that you present. Thank you for sharing/teaching.
Thanks for featuring this wonderful man. Love the freedom to be creative…
When Andrea put on the blue cap I thought of Andrew, brought tears to my eyes in remembrance,. A hurricane makes every neighborhood a village - not in Florida - but have dealt in many hurricanes here in Connecticut. I did love that the hurricane is named Fiona !!!

I was just thinking about your comment, and realized that you could have meant that you were not in Fl…If so, please forgive my hasty comment!

Great episode. I laughed out loud when I saw your sister on the hurricane map. That was too cute.
I've done that hat & i loved, loved, loved knitting it!
You offer such rich interviews with smooth flow and full of information. I am so glad you explained the Fiona hurricane. I had no idea why it came so close to our Canadian coast.
Thank you for this colourful and warmhearted episode!
I’m glad you both were able to ride out the storm safely. I loved your interview with Brandon Mobley. He seems like such a kind and inspirational person.
That was super interesting! That you for that! I jut wound a lot of yarn while watching, all different colours!
love that you came to Canada! I’m on the opposite coast on Vancouver Island. All the best to you. Canada loves you!🦌🦌🧶

So glad you’re ok through that terrible storm. Love how you stay positive and « make lemonade out of lemons ».
Omg FANTASTIC! What a lovely smart creative fellow simply charming and a perfect interview. Love when you gave him a good fast swat in the end. Lol!

I loved the interview with Brandon. He is one of my favorite fabric designers!
Thank you for the info about the Hurricane Madeleine . I just love Fruity Knitting 🧶
I love this guy! He was so dear!!! What a talented dude!!!
Love it. Thank you.

This was fabulous!! Thank you❤
So glad you're oke: love the smiles! Great episode!

Laughed out loud at the image for "Fiona's left hook"
Beautiful episode, as always!!
Wonderful interview! Thank you! So glad you survived Hurricane Fiona.
Another thank you for amazing episode and incredibly interestng interview. It is very inspiring and brings joy to my heart
Great interview with a really nice person.
