Oh my goodness, Jonna, I was flabbergasted and actually blushed in my own living-room when you suddenly mentioned my channel 🤍 What a kind and generous thing to do - which is not surprising considering that you are both so kind and fun and a joy to watch and listen to. Thanks so much, and for another lovely episode 💞
Kim, to avoid the lines when blocking, insert “pool noodles”, cut to size into the sleeve while blocking. You can also use them for the sweater side seams. Works great 😊. Jonna, it’s now sewist because sewer is confused with the grated drainage on the streets! 😅
What a fabulous way to start my weekend 💕 you two are just wonderful and all the knitting, oh my 💖 I’m going to get my shrug on it looks so cosy. Thanks for kind words Jonna, made me smile and blush 🤭 love Danish Musings her non knitting episodes are delightful too. Love the hair Kim 💜💖 Thanks for all the joy and inspiration, Karen 🥰😘
Love watching you ladies from Kettering England and caught your very first episode by accident. Lucky for me. You brighten my day and I knit along with you as you wax lyrical on your knitting journey. Simply wonderful
Thanks to Sarah (I live in The Netherlands too), I discovered your channel and I love it. I just finished the Rota top that Jonna is working on and I loved knitting that pattern. Thanks for the inspiration you give me and hugs from me. Jolande
Just love the rapport you two have together; Jonna, I’ve had the same problem knitting socks: too big, too small, foot not long enough. Finally found a great resource that I think you’ll love: Custom Socks by Kate Atherley. She’s a mathematician and knitting technical editor. I realized how to knit my socks to fit especially concerning negative ease: 1” in width and 1/2” in length. Love this book and know you will too.
So, I love you guys and have been rewatching old episodes while I work and Kim, I cannot get over how ambitious you are with your knits! I'll do one maybe 2 heavy color work or cable patterns a year but you tackle challenging pattern after challenging pattern. You truly are a project knitter, aren't you? You just want the item not like most of us that "need stockinette breaks" between harder projects. It's inspiring. Thanks for sharing your process. Love you guys!
Sorry for the delayed reply, but I've definitely been craving a stockinette or "simple" break recently. Lots of complicated projects in my queue, but not feeling motivated to cast on... Hopefully that will change soon. 😘 Kim
Love your podcasts you two !! No apologies for needed .. it can’t be helped sometimes just happy to watch you and all your knits …that are all beautiful Have a great weekend !!! 😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
It's always a pleasure watching you two ladies podcast. Kim your sweater and other projects awesome, Jona's all awesome. Hope to see you both at Maryland sheep and wool.❤
Loved the podcast! Perfect break from packing!! And I could cast on for my May sock project. Well now it is back to boring packing but each box packed is one more step to getting back home! Thanks for bringing laughter, joy and knitting into my day!
You guys are so fun and make it so pleasant to listen to you! Don't apologize for a thing, it is just a gift to be able to listen to you. Have a wonderful day!
Kim. YES! I’m not even a tight knitter and I ALWAYs need to go up several needle sizes to get gauge for many European patterns. Its the way they knit, so much looser than the way most Americans knit. I never pay attention to the needle size anymore. I just look at the required gauge and decide based on my experience and my own knitting what needle I’m most likely to need and start from there. Jonna - for socks you count your stitches per inch and measure your foot to determine how many stitches you need for your socks. Like everything else you can adjust any pattern to custom fit your own needs. Roxanne Richardson has a whole series of videos on how to measure your feet and custom fit your socks. I highly recommended her sock tutorials!!
Jonna, I love your shrug ❤❤. So glad you went through with it. I want to make one but my knits have gotten out of control. So I have to wait until I finish more projects. Ugh, mosquito bites 😣 I feel your pain Kim. I was bit all over my ankles and my Benadryl cream was my go to which I love 💕 but man, I will have to look into lavender oil. Thanks Jonna!! 🤗
Set my alarm this a.m. to catch this when it dropped! Thanks for starting my day happily!! Another (slightly more risqué) relatively new podcast: The ALTknits Podcast.
Kim, you are an ace at editing and I appreciate your effort. I'm sure it takes a fair amount of time, so many many thanks! Love your podcast, the knits and your warmth and rapport.
There is a fabulous product we have bought in France to soothe insect bites called Apaisyl gel. Perhaps your family in France could send you some Kim... Agree about Danish Musings Jonna, such a delightful podcast.
On my I've just found your podcast, I absolutely loved watching it. I now shall watch them all from the start. You are both amazing. I'm so happy that I have found you both. Love Marion xxx
P.S. Another great vlog! .....And the lavender oil is a great suggestion, but if all else fails, coming from a mozzie infested tropical background in Aussie, calamine lotion works wonders for the itch and inflammation.
Hi Kim and Jonna ! I met you today at the MD sheep and wool festival. You both are very gracious and beautiful! Thank you for the pink goody bag. Karen
The stitch markers are so cute!! I'm so excited for Johnna's scalloped sweater, how ❤️ and just put the moon drake on my favorites, I couldn't believe it wasn't there already 😊 And Kim, you're making me want to cast on a here comes the sun, but I really have too much going already 😂
A ballon sleeve has moderate volume with a tighter short wrist cuff. A bell sleeve is shaped like a bell, with a good bit of volume but open at the cuff and drapey. A bishop sleeve has a long fitted cuff from the wrist all the way up the forearm to almost the elbow, then there is alot of full gathered volume that flares out quickly from the long fitted cuff. A mutton chop sleeve has a very long fitted arm up to about the bicep and then flares out dramatically into a big puff sleeve.
It’s your 😂fault, Kim.,that I have a new cast on , adding on to my numerous😅 wips. When you mentioned Joji’s v-neck box , I knew I needed that in my wardrobe.
Kim & Jonna, after 18 episodes, I continue to look forward to your podcast the most of all that I watch. It's like a long, happy zoom call with good friends!! 💗 I was so disappointed I wasn't able to see you at Pick Up Every Stitch last Saturday but for a happy reason. My grandson was receiving his First Communion at the Church of St Mary & St John one town over. I'm determined to meet you one of these days. Kim, I'm sorry to say the issue you're having with your yarn may be due to them being victims of wool moths. It may have happened before you received the yarn, especially if you haven't seen any active moths in your home. But, hopefully, it's for another reason... Again, you girls are such a positive, cheerful gift to us each time you are viewed. May you both enjoy these sunny, warmer days with family and friends. Can't wait to hear about your time at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival!!! 🌸🐑🌱💗
Love the Irene Lin pattern. I looked and actually love all of them. Ha! You guys are the best!😊 When my mother was sewing they were called a seamstress.
It’s always fun when one of your episodes drops. Kim, thank you for the effort you put into editing. Not all podcasters take the time, and I understand that. However, it really helps to see closeups of the garments and to have the captions on the scree. 😊
Thanks for another episode. I too enjoyed Danish Musings Podcast. Oddly I’m making the Spot Sweater and trying to copy another Danish knitters colors which turned out to be very much like the one on Helle’s podcast. I think I have plenty of errors in my fade but oh well. The Spot Sweater was very hard for me being e newbie knitter. Plenty of things that is assumed you would know. Casted on several times. Then tragedy struck, ran out of my Shibui mohair gray and had to really and search to find some. At last I did in Canada!
Lovely episode! I enjoy all the “new” projects/patterns I either have in my (very long) queue or want to make Right Now heh heh. Sock yarns vary a LOT from dyer/manufacturer. 420 to 463 yds per 100g = very different gauges. For me (tight knitter), I use US0/2mm to US2/2.75mm. Gauge is important + foot circumferences. 5 to 10% negative ease. I’m trying different toe decreases = different lengths, depending on row gauge. Until I hit that “sweet” spot, I knit, frog several times to get a good fit. I have a Sock Journal w all my notes (yarn, needle, sts, rounds, etc). You’ll get there! Persevere! Love the flower sweater! I don’t think I’d have the patience, but adore the result. Kim, all your sweaters are impressive! Thanks for sooo many gorgeous knits - eye candy, for sure!
Love your podcast! I happened upon you about a month ago and so glad I found you! Keep it up! You are very informative and I love your pattern picks!! 😊
Fun episode, your chemistry does the magic.....such a lovely way to start a day! Great knits all around but the shrug is wonderful, it suits you so wll and the por of color makes a nice difference. Enjoy your time in Maryland, I am sure it will be fun and weather will be coorate :)
Hi Kim and Jonna! I just wanted to say that I am always so impressed with how well your videos are edited, the inserted photos and the visual and audio quality. I'm so used to podcasters holding things up to the camera and they go blurry and don't focus for ages and it hurts my eyes! You guys never do things like that 😅 Thanks so much for another great episode 💙 ps Jonna- I have the same size feet as you and I always knit my socks on 52 sts (on a 2.5mm needle). It gives the perfect amount of negative ease and fits me like a glove. So I'm not surprised 64 sts was too many for you! I'm always surprised everyone seems to be knitting 64 sts, it's definitely way too big for me...
Thank you so much!! When we started the podcast, that was one of Kim’s non-negotiables! 😂 I’m so glad to hear that someone else finds 64s too large. I was so confused!
Jonna I love your Saturday shrug! I’ve been wanting to knit one too, but I haven’t yet. Kim, when you mentioned wearing it as a strapless dress, it made me want to mention that some people have worn the shrug as a skirt, and it looks really cute. Watching this video after Maryland, and unfortunately I was not able to find you guys. Hopefully someday I’ll see you at Rhinebeck. 😊
Thank you! Yes, cables are relatively easy. You’re just switching the order in which you knit the stitches on your left needle. There are many helpful tutorials on YT!
❤️ the stitch markers!!!! I attended the NJ Wool Walk last weekend (22 shops)! Each store was to have a different color stitch marker with the sheep face logo on it. But many stores ran out early. 🥲
I have knit socks with the rowan sock yarn. It is very soft but it is like knitting a single ply and i 'm just not used to knitting socks in a lightly twined yarn. Love the podcast ❤
I don’t enjoy knitting a heel flap and gusset so I use a short row heel BUT with a mini gusset and that works for my narrow-feet-with-high-instep. I love Earthtonesgirl shadow wrap heel, easy to read stitches and no counting 😊. I use a German twisted cast on for cuff down socks for good stretch.
I always enjoy spending some time with you! This episode helped me to *almost* finish the Italian bind off on the button band of my April cardigan, so extra thank yous!! (and Jonna's version was an inspiration to make it). Kim, how wonderful that you're travelling to Italy for a retreat with Joji... enjoy it! It makes me happy to think that lovely people are going to meet in my home country ❤
Lovely podcast, ladies! Jonna, do you knit your socks with negative ease lengthwise? Insightful information about the number of stitches and the length of the toe! I would love to see an episode on things a pattern doesn't tell you. There is so much to learn for a new knitter. Kim, your Decision sweater is absolutely stunning. Your photos are always beautiful, but there is something that might save you some time in post process. Back in the day, people used a grey card for color and exposure accuracy. I'm sure you might already know about them. When I photograph something that I know will result in difficult color management, I take one shot with something 50% grey (I'm sure you can find a grey card somewhere-I've also used a lego 😂just anything that is 50% grey) in the exact lighting I'm using to set the color temperature in processing then apply that setting to the photograph of the actual item. Have the best time at the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival.
They would make great gifts too. Since I’ve finished (Jonna) I’m wondering about the stretch in the CO vs the BO. I’ll have to ask everyone next episode!
Another amazing episode! The stitch markers are too adorable and perfect to celebrate your channel. I can't believe it has been a year already since your channel started. Have fun at the festival. There is a fiber one in Boston MA May 21 too if you are up for another road trip.
Jonna, when you were talking about what to do with your leftover sock yarn, Summer Lee has a shorty pattern that you can use all your leftovers in the sock. They are adorable! In the pattern they are white with colored bits. Love them!
Catching up on my knitting 'tubes' and am enthralled with the shrug! I've lots of worsted oddballs in stash...so...maybe for fall. I live in Alberta, Canada. We don't have black flies here -- but Manitoba and east...absolutely! Here, the mosquito is often referred to as our "provincial bird"! 😉 I am also a gardener, and here the "May Long" weekend (Victoria Day weekend, the weekend before your Memorial Day) is considered the Start of Summer and gardens are planted. I have some shrubs to plant this year though and hope to get that done this weekend (Mother's Day) instead. Happy planting! Happy knitting!
It was so nice to meet you both at Pick Up Every Stitch. I purchased two skeins of the special colorway-it’s even more beautiful in person- I already started making a Sophie Shawl with it!
Hi, I did the shadow wrap heel once long ago from a tutorial on you tube. It was great, then I went to do one again and had to go back and consult you tube again and there was all this business of three together. When I did it in the past it was only two, and I recreated that this time and I liked it much more that the tree together. The set up is more like German short rows but using the shadow wrap. If that makes any sense
Kudos to you both for your FOs you are wearing. WOW!! You ladies really make my day whenever you have a new episode. Thanks for ALL that goes into bringing us [me] a "mini knitting vacation" week after week. :)
Fun! Jonna, I had thought about making the Rota, but now I don't know. It looks so skimpy! I'll be interested to see how you style it. Kim, I've been wanting to make a cabled cardigan, but the whole cable/yarn/stretch/gauge conundrum makes me shy away. Maybe you'll have some advice when you're done.
It’s always such a risk watching y’all. On the one hand, I’m on my 4th sweater this year (due in large part to you both!). On the other, my planned project list is just getting longer. 🥺 I just added Dartmoor. Hahahaha!
What a fun episode, thank you! The chemistry between you really makes this channel. I talk back to you all through your episodes and at the end of it I usually can't remember what I was going to say - which makes it feel just like talking with friends in real life 😅 I've managed to hang onto a couple of thoughts today though. Karen's Purl is to die for!!! 😍 I'm also watching you from New Zealand so not likely to be bumping into you at a yarn show any time soon. Any chance of your stitch markers making it into your shop? They're just so cute. Thanks for the inspiration and the laughs x
Kim, try peppermint essential oil on those itchy mosquito bites. If you have sensitive skin, add a few drops of peppermint to any carrier oil before applying.
I love watching your podcast. Kim, hope the lavender helped you as you seemed not your normal perky self. Scratch scratch scratch. It takes me a while to get thru, because I am taking notes, looking things up…you are both a wealth of information and motivation. I put on the closed captions to see if I could understand who the , Anna ? Was that you talked about at the end of the podcast both wanting to make her patterns. Couldn’t figure it out. Kim, your editing is spectacular.
Kim, check your gauge for your sock knitting, go up a needle size or two if your socks are too tight, generally you want about 1" negative ease around your foot and 0.5-1" negative ease for the length of foot (socks should hug your feet). I design a lot of socks and have this mentioned in all of my patterns.
I'm a summer camp councellor, and my mosquito bite tip is this - put band-aids on the bites. Doesn't necessairly help with itching, but it's the only way to stop kids (and myself) from scratching it. Do I look silly covered head to toe in band-aids? Yes, but at least they will heal with no scars.
Jonna try knitting Andrea Mowry’s toe up DRK everyday socks. The ribbing makes them fit so well. And it’s a fleegle heel, so comfortable and easy to knit
Jonna, have you ever tried the Fleegle Toe - Up No- Flap sock pattern? I love this heel and sock pattern. Then if I want a specific pattern, I just add that in on the instep and leg of the pattern.
I live in rural Canada and the best thing for black fly and mosquito bites is lidocaine. There are many different brands like Dr. Numb, Solarcaine, Numbskin, and Inked, but look for 5% lidocaine and it numbs the bite for hours. I feel your pain!
For mosquito bites-I swell up huge and am itchy for well over a week-I find tea tree essential oil or a mix of tea tree and lavender oils works amazing!! And lavender smells better than tea tree by itself lol
For your Socks problems. I suggest you try the DRK Everyday sock pattern. I love it, I think it is very easy to fit because the ribbing all over (just saying). Thanks for you episode
P.S. Re: needles sizes: have you ever thought of going to the metric system for your needles? I used to work in a yarn shop and being Canadian, we use metric sizes for our knitting needles and crochet hooks. We have gauge rulers, though, that translate both the old Imperial (British) sizes and current US sizes into metric units. A millimetre is a millimetre is a millimetre, just as an inch is an inch is an inch. But we found with US-numbered needles, that there can be variations in the size. A US #2, for example, should translate to 2.75 mm, but in our experience at the shop, sometimes a customer would bring in a US #2 and it would fit the slot for a 2.25 or a 2.5 or even a 3 mm needle. I am curious to know what your results would be if you used a set of metric needles -- which have a true diameter -- rather than needles simply allotted a number. Thoughts?
Love the episode! By the time you get to read this I hope to be meeting you in person at Maryland Sheep and Wool. Will you be adding the stitch markers in your shop at some point?
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna I loved my goodie bag, thank you. This is why I made the ask. I want to help spread the love with the cutest stitch markers. I became such a fangirl that I truly couldn’t speak. You both are amazing. It was really my pleasure to meet you both. Thank you.
Hey, the best thing I have found for bug bites is to use the hottest water you can stand on the bites. I spray water on mine in the shower since I have a removable shower sprayer so I can reach wherever. The hot spoon(hot water hot) works as well. That is best for when you have a place you can easily reach and don't want to be in the ahower. This lasts for at least 10 hours. I know it sounds crazy but try it, you wont be disappointed.

Thank you so much!! When we started the podcast, that was one of Kim’s non-negotiables! 😂
I’m so glad to hear that someone else finds 64s too large.
So sorry we missed you! We’ll definitely be attending Rhinebeck. See you there!
I don’t know how to make cables yet. I’ve heard they aren’t hard. 1:23:58 That ice blues is gorgeous. I would also knit no closures. So beautiful!
Thank you! Yes, cables are relatively easy. You’re just switching the order in which you knit the stitches on your left needle. There are many helpful tutorials on YT!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna Thanks, y’all.
❤️ the stitch markers!!!! I attended the NJ Wool Walk last weekend (22 shops)! Each store was to have a different color stitch marker with the sheep face logo on it. But many stores ran out early. 🥲
You Lovely Ladies are amazing! I love what you do! 😘🤩❤️🥳
Those Friday, Saturday, Sunday Shrugs are so fun! I've done one of each and am starting another!
I recently learned about using poolnoodles as blocking tools to avoid that line from flat blocking. Your sweater turned out lovely Kim.
Norman from Nimble Needles also suggests this. Thank you 🌸
Jonna, when you were talking about what to do with your leftover sock yarn, Summer Lee has a shorty pattern that you can use all your leftovers in the sock. They are adorable! In the pattern they are white with colored bits. Love them!
Adorable! Thank you.
🌸
Teddy reminds me of my Zuul, golden doodle, pre and post shave. 100% different dog!!!!! Lol
Great podcast. Love all your knitting.
Great job on both of your tops, I can’t wait to see you at Maryland sheep and wool!
It’s always such a risk watching y’all. On the one hand, I’m on my 4th sweater this year (due in large part to you both!). On the other, my planned project list is just getting longer. 🥺 I just added Dartmoor. Hahahaha!
🤣
Crazy Sock Lady is my go-to.
If we figure out how to do that, we’ll let you know!
Tube tops are back in fashion, Jonna💕
🤣
I always enjoy your episodes!
Absolutely agree about Danish Musings.
So much inspiration ladies! Thank you! 💙
Kim, try peppermint essential oil on those itchy mosquito bites. If you have sensitive skin, add a few drops of peppermint to any carrier oil before applying.
Love the episode! Watched while I did a sewn bindoff!
Glad we could keep you company! Jonna does the same thing.
I get a lot of inspiration from your knits!
Hi Shannon,
Going up a needle size is a great idea and I'll definitely try that next time I knit socks.
Thank you! 😘 Kim
Love love love your episodes 🥰😍🥰... keep it up... it's always a pleasure 🙏🥳... greetings from Switzerland ❤😘🌷🌸🌷
😘
I'm a summer camp councellor, and my mosquito bite tip is this - put band-aids on the bites. Doesn't necessairly help with itching, but it's the only way to stop kids (and myself) from scratching it. Do I look silly covered head to toe in band-aids? Yes, but at least they will heal with no scars.
😜
Love you both. Don't change a thing.
😘
Jonna try knitting Andrea Mowry’s toe up DRK everyday socks. The ribbing makes them fit so well. And it’s a fleegle heel, so comfortable and easy to knit
Thank you!
You two make me😊 . I’m on my third shrug
Kim - you can totally knit your sleeves TAAT on a top down sweater. I have made several tutorials for picking up.👍🏻
I think Kate from the knitting posse also has a tutorial for TAAT sleeves.
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna Knitting Posse’s video tutorial was recorded by me (former Posse member)
Jonna, have you ever tried the Fleegle Toe - Up No- Flap sock pattern? I love this heel and sock pattern. Then if I want a specific pattern, I just add that in on the instep and leg of the pattern.
No, but several people have mentioned it. I’ll look for it. Thank you!
I live in rural Canada and the best thing for black fly and mosquito bites is lidocaine. There are many different brands like Dr. Numb, Solarcaine, Numbskin, and Inked, but look for 5% lidocaine and it numbs the bite for hours. I feel your pain!
Good to know! Thank you!
For mosquito bites-I swell up huge and am itchy for well over a week-I find tea tree essential oil or a mix of tea tree and lavender oils works amazing!! And lavender smells better than tea tree by itself lol
I (Jonna) find a lot of relief using essential oils! I'll add the tea tree oil, thank you.
I am also going to the knitting retreat in Italy with Joji. It will be fun to meet you in person.
GR8 Show 2day. The Olive Cardigan & Sofie Scarf-whaatttt!!
My Bday is also in May-May 27th… I’ll B entering into the 6th Level 🎂🎉💃🎊
Ha ha... when I have a "frog-along" it's because some project hasn't turned out quite well.
🤣
Will the stitch markers be available for sale?
We’ll let you know if we post them somewhere. We don’t have our own shop yet. 💕
For your Socks problems. I suggest you try the DRK Everyday sock pattern. I love it, I think it is very easy to fit because the ribbing all over (just saying). Thanks for you episode
Such a recommended pattern! It's in my queue.
Thoughts?
How do you keep your knitting patterns when knitting a project? Do you print paper copies or use some digital form
Hi! Kim prints them out and Jonna uses Good Notes on her iPad.
Love the episode! By the time you get to read this I hope to be meeting you in person at Maryland Sheep and Wool. Will you be adding the stitch markers in your shop at some point?
Hi Karen!! Such a pleasure to meet you. If we can figure out how to put them in the shop, we’ll let you know! I hope you enjoyed your goodie bag.
Thank you.
Love it all.
And, it feels so good!
