I started with 40mg of prednisone for UC. Now I'm on 25mg. This is the worst medicine ever. I can't sleep! Only 2.5 hours of sleep every night same. I have strong pain and cramps in my legs and ankles. My routine was walking every morning and evening for 1 hour. Now I can walk 30min in the morning and after that, I'm so tired. My vision is blurry. I need to avoid conversations with family members because I'm speaking in an aggressive manner. This medicine helped with my UC flare but destroyed everything else. I need to drink it for 1 more month. I'm so exhausted. If I could sleep body and mind would have time to regenerate but I can't sleep.

I’m one of the patients that ended up getting avascular necrosis. My hip broke just from walking. I had to have a right hip replacement. I also have Addison’s disease.

I was prescribed prednisone for 14 years with only a short break for a surgery. Prednisone combined with inhaled steroids for asthma my teeth are gone. My skin has thinned and bloody bruises happen easy. My blood sugar went up considerable. Enough to cause my doctor to diagnose me with steroid induced diabetes. My weight is up 80 pounds. My endocrinologist finally got my GI doctor to let me stop. I tried to wean off over a 1 month period but still had withdraw for 2 weeks after stopping. My GI doctor finally gave in and got me a surgical option to end my colitis. Something I have wanted for year. Complete removal of my colon, rectum, and anal tissue with a permanent ileostomy. Since stopping prednisone I have lost 50 pounds in 3 months and my blood sugar has settled with the use of metformin.

I got prescribed mometasone corticosteroids spray. My doctor didnt tell me anything about it. So i went on a high dose for 3 weeks time and then when i stopped im now dealing with some serious symptoms that i don't know what to do about... Should i start taking it again in a low to moderate dose to wean off of it?

A friend went through same problems acute colitis at only 21,after much suffering and steroids they took out large intestine and rectum. She was young enough they put bag on and after healing pulled small intestine down and made rectum. She has to use fiber but does really well and this was about 25 years ago.

Is prednisone can make you heat intolerant? Since I took the medication, I can't stand heat or sunlight.

I had a terrible case of eczema started on prednisolone after consulting a doctor, the thing was magic no screeching my skin came back to life. But of course everything has a price, and the withdrawal was rough, yeah it came back strong I had to go off it slowly. But it did help me a lot, if you are thinking on taking it please do it with the assistance of a doctor, and mind the withdrawal, because it is insane.

Thank you so so much , ive stated taking the medication and having lots and lots of side effects and i wanted to check about them and this is the most helpful video of them all , explained all to the max . Thank you so much 😊 although is it more risky for the side effects if the medication duration is only one month ? I’ve been taking it for less than a week and already i have insomnia, anxiety, mood swings and irritation , joint pain, and ofc swallowing. I do need to know if its risky for me because i am on the borderline of diabetes and lately i’ve been craving sugar like CRAZYYYY

Hi Dr. Manno, I have had seven major back surgeries, originally for muscle spasms, and have as many or more spasms than I did before the surgeries. I NEVER SLEEP. I have consistently done my PT, but the spasms NEVER abate. The only thing that helps is corticosteroids. Is it possible that scar tissue could be causing the spasms? Thank you.-Paul D. Dodson
