I work at Amazon and it's not that bad. People make it seem like it's the hardest job ever when it really isn't. If anything it's just boring and time goes by slow. People who work in manual labor jobs in the triple digit heat are the real heroes.
I worked at an Amazon warehouse for four years while I was in college. There are definitely sucky things (main things being boring, zero room for growth and laughable break times) but there are things I do miss. 1. The 4 10 hour days. Made doing errands a lot easier. Never had to waste precious PTO or vacation for a doctor visit, renewing my license plate, etc. 2. Super generous with the voluntary overtime; they gave it away like candy on Halloween. This really helped pay off my car and tuition. 3. Very introvert friendly. You don't deal with the general public and you don't have to interact with others at all. I credit keeping a low profile and simply keeping myself busy at all times as to why I did not receive a single write up in those four years. 4. At the facility I was at it was very easy to change shifts and/or departments once you built up enough seniority. This helps freshen things up and/or get away from a toxic AM.
You're a good packer! For those wary of starting the job, every facility is going to be different. Your experience is going to vary depending on what department you're in and who your manager is. One will tell you about quotas you need to meet and another will tell you that if you make a certain percentage, you'll be okay.
I have always wondered what they are doing at those Amazon warehouses. One is pretty close to my home. Thanks for enlightening me. You are a very focused worker.
This was awesome! I'm starting in fulfillment in a couple of weeks and your video is the FIRST ONE where the person didn't say Amazon was a horrible place to work. I was kinda debating whether I should start or not until I saw your experience. Thanks again.
Ty! For showing us a little clip of the life as a single pack job. This will really help getting me up to speed on what I will be doing. You're doing an excellent job. HOORAHHH!
It’s a LOT easier to pack when it’s a bunch of small single items. There are those of us who pack like that in multi pack with big items in vast comparison. She’s definitely good at what she does, but multi pack is not to be overlooked. My rate would literally be thru the roof if I worked singles. So, it’s not that only a select few can do that pace; it’s put the singles ‘back in’ multi and see if they keep the pace (in my warehouse you have to be proficient in multi before you can work singles & it may not be the same at other FC).. It’s like having a multi WHO only packs small orders like say a brush, deodorant, hair stuff, a couple books.. and see if they keep pace packing big orders like tv mounts, comforters, desk lamp, computer accessories, a 12 pack of energy drinks, in one order, etc. or better have some one who packs these pack an order of 50 gift cards.. #iykyk But again, yes, she is very good at what she does 😎💯
E-commerce is getting out of hand in my opinion… Seeing people order just one item that could easily be bought at a drugstore. I get it if you are unable to go out, but thats most likely not the case for the majority of these orders. Everyone has to hold themselves accountable
I miss my family when I was packer and sorter, then I moved to inbound ... amazon is great after these layoff I hope I can get back. Thanks for sharing your experience Ciara
😂 y’all are too funny. Good job guys. There are many people at my FC packing over 150 an hr so I believe you. I am on average doing like 105 hr 😬 Thankfully we all get paid the same regardless (well kinda)

Are there security guards/metal detectors to prevent that? Shifts will be short, but music makes everything go by much quicker. Wish me luck!

I used to do this type of work at Target Distribution center and the only thing I disliked were the shorts breaks like Amazon. I worked 12 hours and we had one 25 min at 9:47 and then one 30 min break at 2:15 and we could not go outside in the car at Target.

I always wondered why the packing is so ineffective and now I know..lol Not knocking you at all, I know it's how they train you to do it. Thanks for the vid.
sick of that cheap black prime tape. I work in a sortation center and some packages come with ripped tape. some isn't ripped just not enough adhesive on it. I also cant stand when packers don't put the tape in the middle to ensure the box flaps are secured. sometimes one flap is partially coverd by tape so then the box starts opening then it has to be retaped. but the absolute worse is getting big packages of dog food. the depth of the boxes are too deep so there is a lot of space that should be filled prior to taping it to prevent the boxes from opening. How do you know what size box to use?
I was supposed to start but i got a foot injury before my start date so i had to cancel it, Now im partially healed but definitley is reconsidering a job like amazon where your on your feet for hours. The benefits and pay is Good but it sucks i cant really stand for a while now..

I'm about to start at a FC, but idk what I'm gonna be doing yet. I hope I can be a packer bc this definitely looks like something where, once you get in the zone, you're fast af and it goes easy. I love methodical work like this.
I've recently joined Amazon and they put me on stow. It's ok, in my opinion better than picking but I would love to do single pack. You are very fast, I'm surprised there are some even faster than you!
Make sure to let your manager know you want To move into singles, at some point. It’s a cross training path. Once you’re an LC3 you should be able to start cross training in other areas (may not be singles right away, but you can start the path to getting there).. Just make sure your supervisors are aware that that’s something you’d like to do. 😎🤘🏼
I'm on the fence on applying for the north sac area. But I've been thru some jobs that require me to do alot and done alot of different jobs. Do they let you choose what job you'll do first or can you pick?
At first they are going to put you where they need you the most & then when you learn your job you will have the opportunity to train in other areas. I was trained in pack & pick so some days I would work the pick side and others I would pack.
You must have an amazing TAKT time. I do pick on FLEX lol it’s not bad to do this on PT. But if when you do this FT it is not good on the joints even as a young person.
*would you recommend it doesn't look that bad tbh. Perfect job for an introvert and I hear you can choose your own days. As long as I can listen to music I'm good*
One time yall gave me 35,000 of extra worth of routers for free… no idea how it happened one of the packers must have hit the Benjamin’s one to many times
@@TheeCiaraJenae They sure wont, but yep first the order picker would bring a cart to the line, then one person would grab the appropriate size box, tape the bottom, put the bubble and product in it, the next would tape and close the box and at the end of the line one would put on the shipping stickers then send it down the conveyor. Someone had to scan something too. I cant remember its been a minute since I was in there.. lol
Question. What do you think the difference in working day shift vs night is? Other than the pay. Being in the warehouse with no windows, probably has no effect on what time of day it is, do you think? Also what is the difference between sortation, fulfillment, and delivery station?
The shift differential is 2.00 more an hour, in my area, for working weekend night shifts. Other than that there's no difference in pay for nights or days. I am from a delivery station where we sort all the packages we recieve from various fulfillment centers, then get them loaded up for the drivers to deliver. The fulfillment centers package up all the products after sorting and receiving them from various vendors.
The biggest difference in shifts is going to be the people you work with and whether they a)like their job & b) whether they have to work the shift they work or they want to. It makes all the difference. THEN you add the pay differential.

I just put in a transfer for this one. Currently doing ICQA Count. That up and down on the ladder getting to my feet.
hats off to people who do that job i just couldnt do a job where your nothing more than a robot i want a job where thinking is involved
Now I really feel bad for usually only ordering one, maybe 2 items at once. All that packaging and waste…😅
I'm about to start at a FC, but idk what I'm gonna be doing yet. I hope I can be a packer bc this definitely looks like something where, once you get in the zone, you're fast af and it goes easy. I love methodical work like this.
did you end up being a packer?
Can you choose what place you Wana work or they just assign you where they want ?
I've recently joined Amazon and they put me on stow. It's ok, in my opinion better than picking but I would love to do single pack. You are very fast, I'm surprised there are some even faster than you!
Make sure to let your manager know you want To move into singles, at some point. It’s a cross training path. Once you’re an LC3 you should be able to start cross training in other areas (may not be singles right away, but you can start the path to getting there).. Just make sure your supervisors are aware that that’s something you’d like to do. 😎🤘🏼
Nah this world fucked up u supposed to be making more deb rappers 💯
I'm on the fence on applying for the north sac area. But I've been thru some jobs that require me to do alot and done alot of different jobs. Do they let you choose what job you'll do first or can you pick?
At first they are going to put you where they need you the most & then when you learn your job you will have the opportunity to train in other areas. I was trained in pack & pick so some days I would work the pick side and others I would pack.
You must have an amazing TAKT time. I do pick on FLEX lol it’s not bad to do this on PT. But if when you do this FT it is not good on the joints even as a young person.
i can pack 3 a minute if I want but yes hands and feet hurt so much
*would you recommend it doesn't look that bad tbh. Perfect job for an introvert and I hear you can choose your own days. As long as I can listen to music I'm good*
i use to love working in Single smalls when i worked there i knew my rate was gonna be at 100% all day
very interesting! You are a good worker and amazon lucky to have you! Thanks for sharing your work position..
Thank youuu ❤️
Vc é de qual país?@@TheeCiaraJenae
One time yall gave me 35,000 of extra worth of routers for free… no idea how it happened one of the packers must have hit the Benjamin’s one to many times
am happy for you . am algerian thank you
It looks very easy job very light boxes on the other hand FedEx got it very hard involves very much heavy lifting and sound boxes weigh up to 140 lbs
Do you have to restock your area? Like the boxes bubble wrap stuff like that or does someone else do that for you?
You can, but they have people who go around restocking for you they are called “water spiders”.
I watched the whole video cause i start to day in like a 3 hours
I've been observing you and he doesn't seem hard at all
It’s not hard at all
he? who is he? rofl
I literally make well over rate and pretty much fall asleep. Lol
That used to be 3 people doing that packing you did. Back in like 2008
Oh really I didn’t know that… soon they won’t need people at all
@@TheeCiaraJenae They sure wont, but yep first the order picker would bring a cart to the line, then one person would grab the appropriate size box, tape the bottom, put the bubble and product in it, the next would tape and close the box and at the end of the line one would put on the shipping stickers then send it down the conveyor. Someone had to scan something too. I cant remember its been a minute since I was in there.. lol
Thanks for sharing I’m starting soon
Best of luck!
I work for 5 years for amazon packers I getting 21 a hr rn
Do a full experience video of what we should expect and all that
Ok good idea
what cities have packing like this? I wanna move away from Reno but just wanna transfer city.
