    I worked at an Amazon warehouse for four years while I was in college. There are definitely sucky things (main things being boring, zero room for growth and laughable break times) but there are things I do miss.
    1. The 4 10 hour days. Made doing errands a lot easier. Never had to waste precious PTO or vacation for a doctor visit, renewing my license plate, etc.
    2. Super generous with the voluntary overtime; they gave it away like candy on Halloween. This really helped pay off my car and tuition.
    3. Very introvert friendly. You don't deal with the general public and you don't have to interact with others at all. I credit keeping a low profile and simply keeping myself busy at all times as to why I did not receive a single write up in those four years.
    4. At the facility I was at it was very easy to change shifts and/or departments once you built up enough seniority. This helps freshen things up and/or get away from a toxic AM.

One will tell you about quotas you need to meet and another will tell you that if you make a certain percentage, you'll be okay.

      It’s a LOT easier to pack when it’s a bunch of small single items. There are those of us who pack like that in multi pack with big items in vast comparison. She’s definitely good at what she does, but multi pack is not to be overlooked. My rate would literally be thru the roof if I worked singles. So, it’s not that only a select few can do that pace; it’s put the singles ‘back in’ multi and see if they keep the pace (in my warehouse you have to be proficient in multi before you can work singles & it may not be the same at other FC).. It’s like having a multi WHO only packs small orders like say a brush, deodorant, hair stuff, a couple books.. and see if they keep pace packing big orders like tv mounts, comforters, desk lamp, computer accessories, a 12 pack of energy drinks, in one order, etc. or better have some one who packs these pack an order of 50 gift cards.. #iykyk
      But again, yes, she is very good at what she does 😎💯

    One thing that I really hate about the computerization of society is that it has made working more inpersonal and dehumanized. Also seeing someone doing assembly line work brings back some really bad memories of doing that kind of work when I was in my early twenties. I hated that kind of work; it was extremely boring. And it created nightmares for me at night. At least then, in the early 1980's, you could talk occasionally to your co-worker to relieve the monotomy. I can't even imagine not being able to talk to your co-workers and having all your movements tracked by a GPS monitor or by another means. It sounds so sick.😮

    sick of that cheap black prime tape. I work in a sortation center and some packages come with ripped tape. some isn't ripped just not enough adhesive on it. I also cant stand when packers don't put the tape in the middle to ensure the box flaps are secured. sometimes one flap is partially coverd by tape so then the box starts opening then it has to be retaped. but the absolute worse is getting big packages of dog food. the depth of the boxes are too deep so there is a lot of space that should be filled prior to taping it to prevent the boxes from opening. How do you know what size box to use?

      Make sure to let your manager know you want To move into singles, at some point. It’s a cross training path. Once you’re an LC3 you should be able to start cross training in other areas (may not be singles right away, but you can start the path to getting there).. Just make sure your supervisors are aware that that’s something you’d like to do. 😎🤘🏼

Someone had to scan something too. I cant remember its been a minute since I was in there.. lol

    Question. What do you think the difference in working day shift vs night is? Other than the pay. Being in the warehouse with no windows, probably has no effect on what time of day it is, do you think? Also what is the difference between sortation, fulfillment, and delivery station?

    • @reinab8168
      @reinab8168 Год назад +2

      The shift differential is 2.00 more an hour, in my area, for working weekend night shifts. Other than that there's no difference in pay for nights or days. I am from a delivery station where we sort all the packages we recieve from various fulfillment centers, then get them loaded up for the drivers to deliver. The fulfillment centers package up all the products after sorting and receiving them from various vendors.

    • @PeeNaughtUSMC
      @PeeNaughtUSMC Год назад +1

      The biggest difference in shifts is going to be the people you work with and whether they a)like their job & b) whether they have to work the shift they work or they want to. It makes all the difference. THEN you add the pay differential.
