- Under the glow of lights shrouded in cloth, softening every form, Valentino Pavillon des Folies arises, a collection built on beauty and complex in its aim. From bow-adorned dresses to sequined garments and embroideries of all kinds, discover every look from Creative Director #AlessandroMichele’s debut runway show for the brand as it was seen in Paris.
Musical Direction by: Alessandro Michele & Gustave Rudman
Music by: Birds on a wire and Gustave Rudman based on “Passacaglia Della Vita” by Stefano Landi.
Additional composition and arrangements by Rosemary Standley, Dom La Nena and Gustave Rudman.
Flooring: created by Alfredo Pirri, inspired by his artwork “Passi”.

Welcome back Alessandro Michele, I missed your genial vision of fashion couture... but I am feeling bit confused... is it Guccino or Valentucci? I am sure I have seen many similarities with previous Gucci Cruise runway, expecially 2019 in Arles and 2020 in Rome, I loved this one, but I am even more convinced about the fact the designer should give life to his own brand, instead of keeping "micheleising" all other iconic brands.

Valentino's elegance, class, and sophistication have gone down the toilet. The long-awaited collection transformed into a flea market in the seventies. Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti must be in deep depression now. The setting was like ghosts at a funeral.

people are mad cause they were expecting jeans, white tank top with the V logo, basic sneakers , the same basic wool coats, hoodies! nope this is fashion with alessandro i mean he did add some denim jeans so you can be happy about it!
@buntom1800- all of those logo heavy commercial pieces are probably waiting in the showroom and will later show up in stores. We shall see...

just wow! what a presentation. simply gorgeous clothes and super intriguing jewelry. I really loved the chunky bracelets and the lip jewelry, curious to learn how exactly that works (do I need piercings for those mouth pieces??) loved this so much and oh yes that GREEN dress...GASP!

Not surprised. This collection doesn't feel Valentino nor Gucci, although the costumer base moved in; reads Alessandro to me. Why he just don't launch his own line? Will be very successful and the houses will keep their identity
It actually very much gave me Gucci. It had the slink, the accessories kink, and that orient express international vibe of most of his Gucci Collections.
Valentino is a much more "hard in the softest way possible" cleanliness than the 70s Hipsters on Parade vibe of Gucci.
It’s like saying to KL ‘why couldn’t he launch his own line?’… The collection has a delicate reference to the whole history of the house, Garavani style himself, Pier Paolo, Maria Grazia, cinema history, etc. Not surprised with these comments tho.

Gucci is back.
Secondo me (e parlo da semplice appassionato, non da esperto) qua si pone un’altra volta il problema dell’eredità stilistica di un marchio. Ha senso che un marchio continui ad esistere quando il suo creatore smette l’attività (per decisioni personali, per decesso, per qualsiasi altro motivo)?
Dipende. Abbiamo visto, negli ultimi 10/15 anni la rinascita di molti marchi famosi: uno su tutti, Gucci. Ma così anche Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga e molti altri.
Il punto è che la maggior parte di questi marchi non avevano più un’identità, o ne avevano una molto appannata. Tom Ford, con Gucci, era riuscito a reinventarne una. Poteva piacere o meno, ma Gucci, dopo anni di anonimato, era diventata quella cosa lì.
Con Valentino mi sembra un discorso diverso. A parte che il Sig. Garavani è ancora vivo e lotta in mezzo a noi, quando si è trattato di passare il testimone si sono scelte 2 persone del team interno: Chiuri e Piccioli. Il senso dell’operazione era dare continuità a uno stile, sicuramente aggiornandolo ma senza stravolgerlo. Cosa che è assolutamente riuscita, ancor di più quando Piccioli è rimasto solo al comando. Cosa significa? Che l’identità del marchio (che è un valore grandissimo) è stata preservata.
Con questa nuova direzione creativa si ha la sensazione di aver voluto prendere una direzione del tutto diversa. Non bastano 2 fiocchi e qualche rouche per preservare l’identità di un marchio. Ma è ovvio che questo in Valentino lo sanno. Qual è il senso allora? Ritagliarsi nuovi scampoli (!) di mercato? Puntare a un pubblico più giovane? Rendere la proposta più contemporanea? (Parliamone). Non so, mi sembra tutto molto marketing oriented. Conta solo più questo? Forse sì, visti il giro d’affari del settore.
Però mi chiedo: la signora (anche giovane) che ieri comprava un abito da sera di Piccioli acquisterà qualcosa di questa collezione? Ripeto, non sono un esperto e magari la risposta è sì. Ma ho dei forti dubbi.
Ho la sensazione che oggi tutto debba essere solo riconoscibile, da cui l’utilizzo nauseabondo dei loghi. Ma anche uno stile come quello di Michele è assolutamente riconoscibile. Se la mason non avesse dichiarato chi era lo stilista dietro la collezione, tutti avrebbero capito lo stesso. La domanda a questo punto è: ma questo è un buon servizio per l’eredità di un marchio? Per il portafoglio del gruppo, nell’immediato, sicuramente sì. Per la memoria di uno stile leggendario non lo so.

What kind of theme Valentino has used. I couldn't understand it. It was giving me the vibes like everyone is here to attend the devil's daughter's wedding. Instead of a fashion show. But I love the dress collection ❤❤. Sorry for saying it but I really don't like the theme of this show 😞😞.
