Rewatched this recently - good flick. Btw for those wondering the Blu-ray included is just the old one and not anything new with the adjusted color timing. Also lotsa reports of the 4K disc freezing at 32 mins on certain players - ironically like the PS5 you would think Sony would be good on Sony stuff 😂
I was gonna pick it up until Umbrella entertainment announced it so I will import that instead! Can’t wait to see how the new color looks like since I know Gareth was still figuring out grading at the time. I was also fortunate enough to see part two in theaters for a limited release and there were only like two other people in the entire crowd
Probably my favourite action/martial arts movie and happy to have imported this to the UK and it arrived in pristine condition. I really hope they do the Raid 2 because it is as good and actually quite different from the first one
greatest movie ever made and greatest steel book ever! Hopefully raid 2 gets a 4k release. Headshot is also amazing on netflix and it comes out at night on netflix.
Good review. If you have that Dolby Atmos setup it will sound amazing. I love the new color grade, it makes the hallways and the sets look more gritty and grimy. A must-have if you like martial arts movies.
Regarding it's limited release and it selling out: There is already a german release planned (from PLAION in April). While it won't be suitable for english-only viewers because of a lack of english subtitles that still shows that the movie will be around worldwide in different releases. I wouldn't go out of my way to pay $45 for it just because it's selling out.
I sure hope they will add Atmos but I doubt it since all their 4ks so far haven’t had Atmos. Also Talk to Me 4k from Lionsgate in the US had Atmos while the umbrella version didn’t have Atmos - it had a 5.1. Not a good sign.
@ScruffyWarlord I looked and I saw one of the 4ks was atmos...forget which one now. But I did message them and they seemed pretty confident it will have the same specs of the US release. Fingers crossed!
People who don't like steelbooks are suspect and should be watched closely. I'm pretty sure every true crime podcast starts out with, "There were no indications of the horrendous crimes they were about to commit...except for their dislike of steelbooks."
For me its about 4 things that determine if what I choose weather it be a steelbook, slipcover, digibook, or a standard case. And those 4 things are how i feel about the movie, what is the art work on the options, what other extra reading materials etc that come with the various options, and of course price.
The Raid has two scores: one in the Indonesian release and another in the international release. Does this movie include both scores? Is one of the two Indonesian audio tracks with the Indonesian score and the other Indonesian track with the international score??
Raid 2 is my favorite action movie I love this franchise so much.
Love the first one but love the second one even more.
The raid 2 is even better. More interesting story and the action hits even harder

Now you must watch Raid 2...it's just as good as the first film :) Also the Dredd remake was completely inspired by Raid Redemption!
No, they finally put the first one on 4K on the first second one the second one has the coolest fight on a bus that I have ever seen

Raid is amazing and they totally ripped off the premise of the film for the Karl Urban Dredd film.
