It’s great to look back at older videos where you can see how Raphael has changed with the videos but still always very knowledgeable and gives great tips and advice on mens wear And other things
OMG I just got it.
The ship...
It's the *Tie-Tanic.*
old times are always mesmerizing!
You have come a long way with your videos!
Love how you have gained confidence over the years.
My band teacher wears a tie bar almost every time he wears a tie. It makes him look great!
Sehr gut, Herr Schneider!
I've got two tie bars; one in a silver and relatively simple, clean English style, and a gold one with a Focke Wulf 190. My guess is the original owner was a Luftwaffe pilot in the 30s and 40s, or it is a post-war curiosity.
oh my! Gentleman's gazette has definitely grown over the past years! Well done now, well done then!
Thank you so much for always great information
I do agree the videos have improved over the years. However even then they were great. Now I know that I have some tie bars
Vintage tie bars and clips are also fun, but, a lot of them are more playful that they are elegant. Once in a while, that works.
Thank you for this information. I always thought a tie clip should cover more than half of the tie's width, but I wasn't sure. I own nine tie clips, all inherited from my father and probably manufactured in the 1950's or early 1960's. Most are of a very simple design, but a couple are unusual. One has a very small replica of an automotive spark plug mounted on a plain gold-colored elongated triangle. The other is simply a gold-colored electrical connector. These may have been novelties or advertising gimmicks handed out by auto parts salesmen since my father worked as a truck parts counter clerk at the time. I wish I knew more about them, but I still wear them anyway.
Often tie clips or bars were fashioned with tools of a particular trade, example: a mechanic would have a tie clip shaped like a wrench, someone in a gun club would have one shaped like a shotgun or rifle etc
..hope this helps
Thank you! I love it and I have subscribed. I want to up my husbands style and I needed to know a few things about tie clips...Thanks so much.
+Mrs. Lett Now, you just have to get your husband watch the videos, or you start by getting him a few accessories.
Absolutely brilliant 💎 , thank you, I hope you are keeping well after all this time
I sell vintage jewelry and don't know much about men's jewelry. I appreciate your informative video! Will watch more of your videos and subscribe!
I had to wear stiff detachable collars at the school I went to. We also wore a three-piece suit. The dress standard required a four-in-hand knot that sat on my collar stud. A tie clip worn just below the first waistcoat button helped the blade of the tie to stand up slightly. All complicated for a 13 year old to muster and uncomfortable to, but we did look very smart.
That's actually great when I think about it as an adult!
It's actually useful skills going into a working world.
@@Ganbakodon Glad that was helpful. Mustering skills at that age never leave you. Even now if I wear a collar and tie with a V neck jumper I do the same thing. It just lifts the blade slightly and I find stops the knot from slipping through the day. Our housemaster used to say that 'Style had nothing to do with the cut of a good suit, it's what's beneath the lining that matters.' Nevertheless we did have to look very smart within the mantra of understanding how to do things properly. R
Great content. Keep it up
Newer viewer, but realized your logo looks like a more gentlemanly Lenny face
He looks so young, and almost shy. Still very knowledgeable.
Excellent video! Very educational. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your great advice.
Many thanks! Will definetly look dapper!
another great presentation!
Thanks Man 👏👏👏 very
Informative
You are welcome.
thankyou, I found it on your other videos..very informative thanks again
At first glance I thought it was a nail clipper. I was like... a tie bar and a nail clipper as one? Take my money!
bring back this music in newer videos
I like to have my tie clip cover the entire width of my tie in a few instances. Chief among those being when I wear a knit tie. My knit ties are pretty skinny, as most knit ties are, and I think having the entire width covered looks good.
Connor Smith Each to his own!
Thank You...
Thank you
woah lots of great information... wish I would have watched this before I made my own tie bars. Although I think I got lucky and sized them correctly. Thanks for informing how to wear them although the angled look is not for me. Perpendicular all the way!
أنت رائع .. شكراً لك
Awesome video! Your insights were really eye-opening. I've explored a similar concept on illicium london. If you're interested in diving deeper, feel free to check it out. Looking forward to more great content from you!
What about a vest insted!
+Myrslokstok Vest instead of what?
+Gentleman's Gazette:
Insted of a tieclip.
It should keep the tie in place.
Have not tried it but you porobably have.
Got to get a vest.
👔👔👔👔👔👔
+Myrslokstok I find it depends on what you're doing and what your objective is. If you want something that will keep the tie close to your body and jazz up a dress shirt without the bulk and formality of a jacket, a vest is a good option. However, if you are doing anything beyond sitting down and standing up, the tie will shift around from side-to-side. You will either need to re-adjust the tie periodically or embrace the look of an off-center tie. Personally, I'm not a fan of the off-center look, so I've taken Mr. Schneider's advice and started to wear both.
Ok, this video is very old and I don't really expect an answer
But I'll still try
Do you guys still sell tie bars? I can't find them in the store
I'm trying to figure out a Wedding gift for my Fiance, and I like the look of a tie-clip and the fact that it doesn't puncture any ties. In my online shopping, I have come across tie-clips and tie-bars that have short chains attached to them. They appear to be meant to be worn differently than a tie-chain, so my question is what the purpose of the chain on the tie-clip/tie-bar is? Is the chain on the tie-clip meant to loop through a shirt button-hole? Or is the chain meant to hold an attachable charm? Thank you in advance for your advice :)
Would you ever consider doing reviews of clothes or shoes on here like you do on your website? Also, are you planning on uploading videos with more frequency? or are you busy with other things?
Comment RUclips We are ramping up our production at the moment, and we ill post more videos regularly, so stay tuned, and subscribe so you are notified when we have new footage. Reviews of shoes and clothes are not on our priority list right now, but I never say never.
Gentleman's Gazette Understood. Thanks for the reply!
Is the book an ebook or a physical book?
My eyes. I thought it was a toe nail clipper for a minute there.
I would much rather my tie bar was straight and was the same width as the tie than to wear it at an angle and look shorter than the width of the tie as a result. I couldn't wear a tie bar at a big sloping angle like that, to me it looks awful.
Interesting. I was taught that one should never have a horizontal line across the body - except the belt, which doesn't show - and therefore to *always* rake my tie bar a bit. To this day, a horizontal tie bar looks jarring to me. I always rake my tie bar, and I suspect that's why the classic men of the past did so too.
Does anybody have a tip on keeping a tie bar straight?
This guy looks like G Easy
What about a Tie chain?
Angling a tie bar/clip is a unique look, but to many it will seem like your tie clip/bar is coming out of place and about to fall off.✌🏽
The book isn't free anymore..?
+Skillmatic You still get a free book here www.gentlemansgazette.com/newsletter-sign-up/ , but it is a different one.

Where can I purchase that green tie bar?
How can a man with a large neck use a tie collar bar for style, but do not want to over heat or "choke" all day. He is one of the four second in commands for his department and wants to to stand out in appearance as well in his performance. However, he has worked his way up through the rank and earned his degrees as a fleet worker for his municipality. Now he must find his own professional look that is modern and comfortable for him that still allows the fleet guys to relate to him.
I always thought skinny ties were trendy and annoying looking. Am I wrong? are they classic in any regard or should they be avoided? I suppose I haven't seen anyone elegant try to pull it off...
Comment RUclips well trends come and go, even in classic men's clothing. In the 1930's ties were much shorter than today, and cut differently. Often they were quite wide at the end. Over time, ties developed and by the 1960's they were often very slim. In the 1990's ties were wide again, now they are thin. I am confident there will be wider ties again in a few years. If you have a 8cm or 9cm tie, you should be able to always wear it...
Excellent! I only possess 8cm ties, and I really like the look of it. It's proportions are just right. I feel like no matter what the trend is, it's always best to find a width that compliments your body type because there are always things that will look better on you than others.
Comment RUclips Well said.
Don Draper from Mad Men
What are you looking at?
Why don't you wear wrist watch.
Why 80% across the tie ? Looks like you bought one that's too short !
BTW you are wearing this bar across the collar/tie but make no mention of it on this video..
Kar Ser That's called a collar pin. He talks about it here: ruclips.net/video/OSGFiQ9Odcs/видео.html
Where can I acquire the tie bars/clips shown in this video? or just in general?
Comment RUclips These are vintage pieces. You can check on ebay for similar styles.
Thanks! I'm a bit surprised you haven't added similar items to the Fort Belvedere line-up. It just seems like it would be in line with the collar bars or pins you offer.
Comment RUclips I have not been able to find the kind of quality I would like to offer, and hence I don't. All Fort Belvedere items are top notch, and I won't sell anything subprime.
Understood! I appreciate your commitment to quality. Keep up the fantastic work!
Woow this is an early one! Awesome to see the progression 👌👌✨
what is it he is saying after nonchalant ?
He's said "sprezzatura".
Wearing a simple tie bar seems elementary enough but what I and i'm sure many would like to know is how to wear the bar that goes UNDERNEATH the knot....what is that bar called and how do you wear it and what is the purpose, I'm starting to wear 40's ties so would like to know how to do it- thank
+Kar Ser It is called a collar bar or collar pin. We made a video about it. Just search our channel for collar pin. ruclips.net/video/OSGFiQ9Odcs/видео.html

Your right suit sleeve is missing a button. Sorry, once I noticed it I couldn't look away.
No, it's just unbuttoned ;)
Ah...well, um...sorry. Love your videos!
Schooling for the newly rich
The old videos are so much more awkward and nervous than the new ones. I guess he had to get more comfortable with the format.
Too many accessories guys. Just go with 1 or 2, not 4.
No.
Why do you talk so slow
the shirt was not in the right position, you just pretended that it has gone through the shirt but not ah ah ah what a bluff........
