Love this guy, Steve brings me joy with every video. Next time ill send my own pics of my system. Bringing the community together, like a true music lover. Keep it up!
Super cool to see my system featured on your channel! (from 17:12 to 18:04). I've enjoyed the journey to get to get to the system I'm fortunate enough to enjoy most every night and your channel has helped so much!
Thank you! This room has remarkable natural accoustics. In our last house, I never felt that the Gallos made enough bass. In this room, they produce a very satisfying amount, and the sound stage is so much bigger as well.
Thank you for 7 years Steve G! Your enthusiasm lifts my spirits every time. Your videos,, opinions and areas of interest are SO interesting and well presented in an open, honest way that reeks of credibility. So refreshing! 🙏 I have tinkered like you for 50+ years - mixed FOH audio for 35+ years (Meyer gear + SmaartLive OG) but at home I tinker with all manner of audio gadgets. 100" projection 5.1 living room for 35+ years.
Congratulations Steve Guttenberg..have been a fan boy of your career for some time..even in print.Carbon dating here.Love your YT channel..I look forward to it every time it shows up.Keep up the great work it's greatly appreciated. And your shirts also..and Mrs.Guttenberg also.
Wanted to thank Steve for showing my system. I never really thought he would show it as it is very incomplete at the moment, but I got some some nice lighted shelves to display it now, a starter dac that will be used for my headphones after I get a much better one, and speaker stands and a 75 inch tv are coming.
Wow is it 7 years already. Congratulations. Even more amazing is your still married lol Congratulations to Mrs Audiophiliac for putting up with it all. 😊
I am always amazed at the endless variety of components and manufacturers. After all this a very niche market considering how much some of this stuff costs (wish I could afford it !). I am sure we have all noticed how often McIntosh crops up (especially in amplification) - they are looking like a winner and rightly so !
Love this posting. Great to see the Mrs. who to my eyes and ears has some of the same mannerisms that remind me of Herb but much better looking of course. Congratulations on the 7th year of quality postings.
Wow, thanks for sharing all your fan's setups! Just wanted to say Jan from St. Albert's photos were excellent. While his system might be more an image than sound thingy, his profile was my favorite just because of how great those two photos were. How did Jan get the photo of the flash busting on the camera in the shot!
Gobsmacked : utterly astonished , astounded I've personally had many of these pieces in outright purchases or trades, I was never quite astonished or astounded except for the Klipsch horns . Hmm. What astonished You ???
Congrats on 7 years. Although this is the audiophiliac, not videophiliac, I cringed when I saw that Xgimi Aura ultra short throw projector projecting on a wall about 8 minutes in. That just savages the image quality it's capable of with a proper ambient light rejecting screen.
Hello again Steve Whilst internet digging I discovered : Darko with 342k subs Steve "the Great" 255k subs cheapaudioman 251k subs PS Audio Paul 220k subs Audiomasterclass 73k subs ( who )? Golden Sound 42k subs ( who )? Absolute Sound with 37k subs Stereophile 35k subs You're the No.2 with a possible 90k subs just waiting in the wings ! Just recently found this channel! Even if he didn’t know what he was talking about, just based on what he looks like, I would believe every word out of his mouth. He just looks like he would be a genius!
Hello again , Just now, on a hunch , I did a brief search for our old pal Tyll ! I found him doing a TV Show in Montana teaching Music . Hmm and about one year ago Tyll explained his Nomad Rig "Put" while at some Annual Desert Nomad Gathering . Tyll is retired , very social and mechanically creative. He mentioned his history of World Travel and headphone reviewing. I'd like to Send Tyll a personal message but I don't think he wants correspondence from Audio Hobby People . Anyway, Tyll & Steve remain the two greatest Audio Reviewers ( of course J Atkinson needs to be included here ). I met you lads at RMAF 11 which seems like 30 years ago . Hmmm Tony Kazz -- 80 & fully retired in Florida
Lavardin ( Hephaistos ) did a lot of reseach ( France ) published in the iconic magazine L'AUDIOPHILE ......about distortion caused by SS and NFB ! These amplifiers are exceptional and unique.........this is a niche brand for people who want something build for music rather than be pleased by high end sound hyped by marketing ....... 121 -= 124 ! Belden cables are quality and used by professionals and recording studios............they won't ruin your budget .
Congrats to this achievement!! one question (8:43) wrt the system involving a volumio streamer and a Chord Qutest: are these really 3 Jitterbugs in series before AQ Diamond and Qutest? Also, what power source and power connection (cable) has been used on the Qutest? Am asking because am using a Qutest too, supplied in power by a SBooster plus ultra plus ifi DC purifier, same combo on a pro-ject s2 ultra streamer, AQ coffee in between, not a single JB. there (found that less good when inserted in described streamer/dac combo - unlike the predecessor dac).
Hi Steve. Incredible that you haven't heard an Lavardin amp? I followed you for many many years, and everytime i had a chance, i wrote about the brand. I own the top of the line, Pre/Mono amps, and i dare you to look into one of their intg. model: IT or the lesser exspensive, ISx Ref. I promise you, this will blow your ears and mind. Do you like music? They do to. Cheers from Denmark.
Beautiful systems, but interesting that for all the money spent almost none of the rooms have treatment and the speakers are almost uniformly placed in corners, a sound killer.
My room has excellent natural accoustics. There are lots of non parallel surfaces, and the window shades and curtains can be closed. At 30' by 20' by 10' the architectural features of the room and the arrangement of plants and furniture there are no early reflections and the only room node is around 62Hz. I can use the parametric eq in the sub amp to smooth that out.
@@acescok Yes McIntosh is beautiful to look at. Their build quality is very good and they are made to last. Not my favorite voicing on hi-fi equipment though. For me, they seem to have just a little bit of a heavy sound. But as psychologists will tell you, men are visually stimulated and Mcintosh is beautiful to look at. But as they say in auto racing, "chrome won't get you home".
@@johncain3212 Couldn’t agree more. I for a designer myself finds it really satisfying to look at beautiful McIntosh equipment. but not sure I would prefer to switch them on and listen. I’m most comfortable with something like my Hegel or maybe a Unison Research. I’ve kinda put my rack to the side away from my line of sight and instead put a Laughing Buddha at the focal point. Get’s me to sonic bliss ☺️
That might be true, but I'm sure that many super wealthy people by Ferraris because of the way they look and rarely drive them! It's their money! And lots of people buy Leica cameras and don't use them.
@@acescok I almost went with a lightly used Unison Research S6 Integrated amp. I think they're a very cool design. I have read that they can be a little particular with the equipment you match them with. In the end I went with a Black Ice Audio F-35 tube integrated amp. Just like McIntosh, the face and the transformer are covered in polished black mirror glass and look very nice( Awesome) in my opinion. And their customer service is beyond outstanding. If you call BIA they do answer their phone and most likley you will be talking to Jerred the CEO and the guy who built your amp. I would sure like to audition the Unision Reaserch Little Italy amp someday.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Very true. Beyond a point, all kinds of luxury are just a statement to give out to the world that “ya, I’m wealthy enough to own and flaunt it”. Much like how, a Rolex and a Timex gives the same time…
So much systems, and nearly zero room treatment at all of the system. Only one is the Raidho Setup. Are the Owners all deaf or simply doesnt know that Treatment is the key for Resolution, Precision and overall Quality of the Room. Realy sad that all this expensive quality gear is mostly wasted
It’s not sad if the owners like it. It’s their money and their life. People also care about aesthetics and room treatment is rarely that. Also, mood matters a great deal in enjoying your system. Ever listen when you’re not in the mood? Doesn’t matter how good the system is. So if the look of their system gets them in the mood more, I’d argue they’re enjoying better sound to their ears.
Room treatments are in the plan for mine, but I need the rest of the system before I can even think about them. The treatment would need to be put in after a real-time analysis of the rooms acoustics is done to see what I need.
