    never did drugs but im addicted to porn. i know to some that is funny but not really. i meet all the criteria he mentioned. i only mention this to say that often drug users are vilified but if you look in the mirror i am sure you will find something that you too are addicted to. so refrain from judgement. drugs arent my personal vice, but i get it.

    JUST BOUGHT HIS BOOK...I’ve tried a lot of different treatment methods for Opioids an none of them had long lasting success. I’ve been sort of hopeless because 12-step programs weren’t working for me an I learned they weren’t working for a lot of others in them as well. They were more like a reason to just meet chicks see the homies hangout and portray your life as being great 👍! Then leave get lit and repeat 5 nights a week...smh..anyway the 2nd chapter in the book is “The current recovery system isn’t working” That’s all I needed to see! And a 9$ investment to potentially save your life...it’s a no brainer!! I FEEL HOPEFUL AGAIN!!!!🙏💯

      @@dylanwalker4164 His ideology makes more sense to me than AA that was created in 1939 I believe? Point is it’s old tactic that even after a small amount of research it doesn’t even make sense to go that route first. If u noticed I left this comment 2 yrs ago shortly around that time I got on subutex 16 mg a day for the first year then taper down to nothing. I also started with a therapist and still go. I haven’t even seen as much as a 5 mg perc till now. What I mean is u stay on a maintenance program (I say sub over methadone) until opiates are not your center of focus in other words when u ponder to yourself 1 day dam I haven’t even thought about any type opiates in god knows when. Until it’s been so long you wouldn’t even know where to get it anymore. Then and only then should u consider getting off them. See the thing is that during this critical time u need to be comfortable in order to be able to retain any of the key things that will fix you. After 9 months I started feeling like I was where I told you to get to not having dope the main focus of my life. Pretty much impossible without some med assistance. (Subs kill all cravings if u take 16 mil. Another fact they didn’t know back when AA started is opiates 1 of few drugs that actually changes your brain circuits and wiring so it’s pretty much a scientific fact that willpower alone is mostly not effective. Sorry for all this I’m just passionate and I wish you luck and am praying for you DW!💪🙏

      Hell yeah I'm glad to hear it. Yeah addiction is tricky, I'm trying a new therapist Friday so I'm hoping this one is a good fit. It really seems like it's a matter of gathering a took kit there isn't a magic bullet for anything. I really do value my friends from na and sharing and listening is beneficial but the cult aspect of it is something I will always rebel against even when I gave it my all. When I'm struggling but not wanting to go that route literally the only advice I get from 12 step folks is go to a meeting. Ate you still doing the maintenance thing at this point?

    This is AA and AlAnon. He is not saying anything new. It's like he took the programs added a twist and voila he can make money on AA principles. This is unbelievable...AA ALWAYS says it is NOT about the alcohol! This guy is full of shit saying he has a new approach. AA is FREE. And a great group of people. Not all get sober right away and the help is ALWAYS available. You have to work to change your life.

    • @Hassanthehorse

      AA is an organization meant to help addicts - an addict expert might obviously take advantage of that available resource and extract valuable lessons from it, but that's not at all synonymous with stealing or being full of shit. I liked his approach and I didn't think it strongly resembled AA principles, which I think can unintentionally foster a codependent/cult-like dynamic between the alcoholic and the organization. Your response to an outsider kind of affirms that view.

    • @AdiJaffe
      @AdiJaffe 2 года назад +1

      If AA is not about alcohol, why is the only requirement to stop drinking? At IGNTD, we only have one requirement - wanting your life to get better... Additionally, whether you agree with it or not, 90% of people who need help for addiction won't touch AA... so additional options are necessary. I love the you believe our harm-reduction approach is AA re-tooled... I think a lot of people in AA would disagree.
