    3:33 yuri. You mentioned that GGG has no control over what Weah is going to do in that moment. But did he prepare them them “that the only way Panama is going to win is to bait us into doing something stupid. Don’t, be stupid, and don’t fall for the bait.”

      As I said later on the video, Gregg is a bozo and has no repertoire to resort to in case it becomes an out of the ordinary game. What I do find inexcusable is how a large portion of the fanbase is so overprotective of the players that no accountability is placed on them. I dislike Gregg as much as anyone but that moment changed the course of the game entirely and for once it wasn’t Gregg’s fault.

    • @PerpetualAbidance
      @PerpetualAbidance 6 месяцев назад

      @@AMERICANULTRASTALK for sure that decision is 100% on Weah in the moment so you are correct in that. Players need to be accountable and be held accountable. I just wanted to point out that, outside of that moment, what would/could a coach do/have done to influence Weah’s decision making in that moment. I’d be curious to find out what, if anything, Gregg did to prepare the team for the shithousery that was to be expected from Panama. Maybe they did and Weah blew a gasket anyway.

    Great video lads. Braden we almost have the exact same thoughts about this one. I completely agree with your rant about the substitutions in the middle of this video. We brought on players who made us worse. This game was probably the most damning for Gregg’s entire career. I know the players play at the end of the day, but how we managed after the red card just shows we need a change. A shock loss in this game is absolutely unacceptable.

    Hard to win when the coach gives up at halftime. We got a goal in the 4-4-1 with 10 men but Gregg gave up and went to a 5-3-1 and gave Panama the ball and they were allowed to hold onto possession until it bit us yet again. He did this during WC qualifying all the time and the WC group stage.

    You guys said a lot of what needs to be said. Braden, you mentioned that Weah is lucky there is no real replacement for him and could keep his spot, but there is a replacement and it’s doing exactly what you have said multiple times: put Pulisic on the right wing and Haji on the left. Better combo and more maturity.
    Also, there was another bright spot, and you hinted at it… the new set-piece coach is clearly having a positive impact.
    Let’s hope we see the bounce-back of a lifetime on Monday. I don’t ever want to see our guys fail, so we should all root them on and hope they get a result. If they don’t, the major consolation prize if it means Berhalter gets sacked.

      At least it seems to be a win-win from that aspect, although I’m still not convinced that Gregg would be fired if we get grouped. The silver lining from the red card is that we might finally see Haji Balogun and Pulisic starting, as you said I’ve been saying it’s the best option full stop but there’s no debate it’s the best option now without Weah. I will do my best, whatever I can to still support the players and the fans bc we all deserve better. Here's my piece: we didn't learn one god damn thing from 2017 when we failed to qualify for the World Cup. Not one thing! How in 7 years can we as a country continue to blame the players when we have a systemic issue. Coaching, culture, leadership, tactics and accountability nowhere to be found. I can't believe there are people, like Max Bretos, defending his decision to bunker for 70+ minutes and invite them in to attack us. NO! WE NEEDED TO DO THE EXACT FUCKING OPPOSITE! IF THERES ANY GAME THAT COULDVE USED THE VERTICALITY GREGG TALKS ABOUT, IT WAS THIS ONE!!! MAKE PANAMA SUFFER FROM COUNTER ATTACK AFTER COUNTER ATTACK AND SUB OUT SLOWER GUYS FOR FASTER GUYS LIKE WRIGHT AND MUSAH AND TILLMAN (not fastest but has elite acceleration). On a side note, why is Malik Tillman seeing ZERO minutes but CCV got minutes and sucked it the fuck up? You mean to tell me that there's NO value in playing him when he's DOMINATING at PSV??? Sorry for my language... this is the angriest I've been with this team. I'm even angrier than I was for Colombia. Congrats Gregg!

It continues to amaze me how Gregg finds a new way to mess up every game, it’s almost impressive at this point. It would really surprise me to see Uruguay renounce to undertake a serious approach towards that remaining game in group stage. That is not in Bielsa's nature and this is a short tournament where Uruguay surely sees the U.S. as the most worthy opponent of the group and it's in their best interest to head to the next round having played as they want to, moving forward. Having Uruguay as the last rival of the group makes it even more questionable the coach's decision to defend. I completely get that you were shorthanded but a draw outcome probably puts Panama in a better position than the U.S. facing the last game of the group.

      I will list realistic options based on the salary cap.
      Hugo Pérez has worked with a lot of these players before, and with what he had at his disposal, he had some success, Anthony Barry is a good option imo, great assistant coach with experiences at top team such as Chelsea and Bayern and also with Ireland, Belgium, and Portugal at the international stage. He is young and not proven at the highest level but there wouldn’t be a language barrier and if we are going to gamble let’s take an educated one. His salary demands wouldnt be an issue either.
      BJ Callaghan, could’ve been our Scaloni, I don’t have much conviction of his qualities but we looked better under his control than with Gregg, he could serve as an in house interim until a better option.
      Pellegrino Matarazzo, wages could be tricky but I still believe he’d be realistic, proven track record in Europe with repeated success at the club level, has also mentioned he wouldn’t turn down the chance to coach his country. He’s the best American coach right now.
