Looking back, I think you’re right that this was the worst loss under Gregg. Trinidad & Tobago are a much worse team, but at least that game was away and didn’t ultimately matter after the 3-0 win at home.
Hard to win when the coach gives up at halftime. We got a goal in the 4-4-1 with 10 men but Gregg gave up and went to a 5-3-1 and gave Panama the ball and they were allowed to hold onto possession until it bit us yet again. He did this during WC qualifying all the time and the WC group stage.

If you’re going to call for a new coach, offer up some options. Who would be better that we could actually get? After the World Cup, all the Berhalter haters were calling for Marsch. Marsch isn’t any better. Give us some realistic names.
I will list realistic options based on the salary cap. Hugo Pérez has worked with a lot of these players before, and with what he had at his disposal, he had some success, Anthony Barry is a good option imo, great assistant coach with experiences at top team such as Chelsea and Bayern and also with Ireland, Belgium, and Portugal at the international stage. He is young and not proven at the highest level but there wouldn’t be a language barrier and if we are going to gamble let’s take an educated one. His salary demands wouldnt be an issue either. BJ Callaghan, could’ve been our Scaloni, I don’t have much conviction of his qualities but we looked better under his control than with Gregg, he could serve as an in house interim until a better option. Pellegrino Matarazzo, wages could be tricky but I still believe he’d be realistic, proven track record in Europe with repeated success at the club level, has also mentioned he wouldn’t turn down the chance to coach his country. He’s the best American coach right now.
@@AMERICANULTRASTALK well thought out and reasonable. I would be comfortable with Perez. The boys did play well under BJ but not sure he has the tactical chops that everyone is screening for. The thing about tactics is there’s more than one right answer to a tactical dilemma. Everyone thinks they have THE answer when there is always more than one. I personally thought Gregg’s formation change was good. We locked them down defensively and had several good counter attacks. Unfortunately our depth exposed. Johnny and CCV aren’t there yet. The only gripes I had were I would have left Balo on and used Musah instead of Johnny. We can beat Uruguay. It’s time to put up or shut up. It’s time to see who we are.
CCV is not a “horrible player” objectively. He has not proven himself (aside from his _excellent_ performance in the World Cup). If he gets another chance, I hope it is not as the central in a back 3. Clearly, this is not working. Objectively, he is struggling as a player for the national team, but we give up on him at our own loss. I agree Trusty should be ahead of him now as well, but NEVER compare him to that bum McKenzie ESPECIALLY if you’re talking about enormous defensive mistakes in high-profile national team matches. See ya at the Uruguay match in KC.
I’m open to giving him another chance, but he has to test himself in a good league first. McKenzie still gets a bad reputation from USMNT fans because of one mistake he made 3 years ago, it’s unfair to hold that against him now but let CCV’s current form slide. Hope to see you at the game!
@@AMERICANULTRASTALKIt was not just the one mistake for me. He’s consistently clumsy on the ball imo. It helps Panama that Bolivia has nothing to gain with a win. No team goes all out for third place.
Exactly
If you’re going to call for a new coach, offer up some options. Who would be better that we could actually get? After the World Cup, all the Berhalter haters were calling for Marsch. Marsch isn’t any better. Give us some realistic names.
What’s your choice? Say something. If you pay attention, plenty of coach suggestions were suggested. Stop only watch Alexi Lalas.
@@AMERICANULTRASTALK What was the name of the guy who coached Morroco during the World Cup? We should try to get him
@@AMERICANULTRASTALK well thought out and reasonable.
It’s time to see who we are.
sad day in usmnt history
One of the worst in recent memory that’s for sure
But I take your point on CCV going to a big league and agree that should be expected at this point in his career. Thanks for the reply, I’ll say hi if I see you out there bud. Let’s give our all as fans for one last try! 🇺🇸🏟️⚽️
I would let Gregg go today and give the next game to BJ.
It would give us a much better chance, but sadly there’s no way it happens
If you had watched what panamá had dominated Uruguay in the second half, everyone should had guessed that this panamá was really dangerous if you do not take them seriously, and by the way without some of their most importante players in deffense, its captan godoy, it steikee a puma Rodríguez and without ismael diaz...
is not just one moment in the game. Panama plays well and score two goals.
The USA squad are not that good!
They’re definitely overrated in the fifa rankings, that’s for sure
I think we will lose to Uruguay.
Agreed
I can see a scenario where we get dumptrucked 4-1 but somehow Bolivia pull a miracle 1-0 victory over Panama and we advance on goals scored and Berhalter is kept on because he got out of the group.
😂 now that would be funny
In a debate
CCV is a good defender.
In Scotland, that’s about it though
Yuri Hope is good
I hope we get a new coach.
If we lose to Uruguay (which is extremely likely), I have to assume it’ll happen
It is football...
So, USMT loses one player, and suddenly you are doomed, helpless…. Useless. That is bad dude
Well it was the same case as perú, one man down too, Who losses to Canadá or chile that could not beat Canadá, also with one man down...
Uruguay is a much better team
my tv, nearly got thrown out of my window....garbage, ggg has to go, he wont but the clown has to go, the worst in usa history..............im fuming, ggg, got subs WRONG... gt show guys thanks....
I felt the same, if I wasn’t watching at someone else’s house something would’ve been broken lmao
