ford 2000 tractor Voltage Stabilizer

The Voltage Stabilizer was bad on my Ford 2000 Tractor causing the gauges to read incorrectly. I ordered a replacement and installed it in this video.

Were the gauges working at all with the regulator being bad? Mine dont do anything. Pegged all the way to empty on fuel and cold on temp. I have 12 volts on the power and a good ground. Not sure if I should just get a new aftermarket cluster
