- Off-air recording of the final moments of MTV OMG (UK), broadcast on 20th July 2020. The channel originally launched as TMF UK, a free-to-air channel on the newly-launched Freeview service. Over time, entertainment programming was introduced and in 2009, the channel was rebranded as VIVA. It closed in 2018 and morphed into a pay channel; temporarily as MTV Love, then MTV OMG.

MTV OMG had a fantastic end to its broadcast by playing Thank You For The Music by ABBA.
This ends a 18 year legacy of this channel space. First TMF launched in October of 2002 and ran for 7 years, then it evolved into Viva towards the end of the decade. Unfortunately the age of the internet didn't treat Viva well, and I could tell that its rebranding to MTV OMG in 2018 wouldn't last very long. R.I.P

After MTV OMG was shut down, I started to watch VH1 Europe instead.
It was shut down at 8:00AM EEST

Billie Shepherd and Mark Hanretty performed their last dance to Thank You For The Music by ABBA because they withdrew from Dancing on Ice 2021 due to Billie's head injury. Billie and Mark were so sad to see MTV OMG pass away.
Viva closed in 2018
I know but when it did close, it did get a normal rebrand instead of having no music channel replace it at all so MTV OMG is the last surviving Viva in the entirety of UK and the final viva to close
Nvm, I understand now, it said 2013 when it’s actually 2018 (though Viva UK did get an actual replacement and rebrand)
Fun fact: This was also the last song to play on The Hits before it became 4Music.

No it was not, I was predicting it would be the last song on Magic TV but it wasn’t. It was the last song on it’s titular tribute program "Magic TV: Thank You for the Music" yet their actual last song was "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men

It was inevitable to happen unfortunately, MTV’s heydays are no longer due to the digital age of music streaming, nothing wrong with both things, of course, technology changes with time. I’ll admit I didn’t even know that viva was replaced by an MTV channel until I saw this video in 2 years later. I remember watching Viva back in 2010, 11, 12 & 13, along with StarzTV, I was initially a young teen back then and music channel surfing wasn’t that big but it was still a thing. I’m 25 now and fully rely on Spotify just like many others do. It’s a shame though, I think we’ll be seeing far more channels shutting down and moving to streaming platforms in the far future.
Never got the point of this channel so not really going to miss it much, MTV Dance in its original form I miss, Then for a while became a near copy of MTV base. Proper dance kind of died off.

Shadow Films, it later become MTV Love and then MTV OMG. Not to mention they closed down.
