- I wanted to do the first motovlog style video on the Ninja 500 before I sold it.
Basically just my thoughts about the bike and beginning riding on the street. Авто/Мото
Thank you for demonstrating sensible riding technique. Many of the guys who do these v-logs are insane speed demons and tailgaters. Good video.
have a 09 ninja 500r blue in color , if you just only knew how much I truly love the bike . first bike in 28 years and so very much fun being back on a bike again . one thing I don't like about the bike is , don't want to get off of it having way way to much fun on it . speed don't mean a thing to me if driving or riding i'm one of these people I get there when I get there , no sooner no later . I bought the bike for fun and every time out on it that's just what I have pure fun . thank you kindly for your time and be carefull out there , for the cars and trucks out there are way to busy texing and talking on the cells phones so they don't see you , you have to see them that is if you want to live in this world . keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down . safe riding out there . thank you .
You literally drove past my house in this video 😂 and I just bought an 07 ninja 500 which brought me here. Wierd

The ninja 500 was my first bike and it was great! Not the coolest bike but I'm glad I started on it. Got it for $1k too and sold it for 1k. I plan on buying a bigger bike soon.
Thanks for the VLOG. This video was a pretty significant factor in my decision to buy my 500R. It's my first bike, bought it earlier this week and I already put close to 200 miles on it. You're right it's a great beginner bike that will not leave you bored.
Good video man you've helped me a lot! Very personable and conversationalist :)
I picked up a 2007 to commute. What a fun bike! Great on twisty roads, lots of speed when you need it, easy to drive in town. I'm thinking of getting risers to just get a little more upright. Has anyone tried them?
Thomas Cattani just bought an 07 semi naked 500r as my first bike
Regarding the speed or lack thereof, EVERYTHING is relative, if you step off a Suzuki Hyabusa this will feel like a pedal cycle but get off your learner 125 (or less) and climb aboard this and you will probably crap your pants. Anyway speed is not the be all and end all of motorcycling, sure it's fun in the right circumstances but here in the UK there are speed cameras around every corner so what is the point of having a 190mph bike??
Thanks for the honest info mate. I am looking for my first bike and this or similar coulkd be it.
Mines a 86 ex500 and I’m in love with it!
yup, its a snappy little commuter bike, not quite a race bike but it is a fun bike to get you where you want to go, i would love to own a ninja 500
i bought my ninja 500 in Oct 2014. started riding in may 2015. I wanted more out of a bike after about 1 month. Im 6feet 220lbs. I've gotten her up to a little past 115 mph but it prob tops out 120ish for a lighter person....that was in the 1st month. I still own the ninja 500 but purchased a katana 600 in AUG 2015. much more pick up. The ninja 500 is the perfect beginner bike with a decent amount of pick up but not so much where itll get you in trouble. you can full throttle the 500 and not worry about wheelies. I had a lot of fun on the 500 but you will want to upgrade eventually....
they are not just a good learner bike I kept mine so glad they are the best "every day" bike I have a gpz900r but that is a special occasion bike
just go tmy 09 500r last year of this body and i love it i learned how to ride
Hey.. yeah, haven't sold it yet. I can't say how much longer it's gonna last though; get in touch with me through the CL ad if you're still interested.
Got a Cbf 1000 but just bought a Ninja (Gpz 500s in UK) as a second bike,i love these older bikes i had a zzr 600 before, end up spending more time on the Gpz than i do on the Cbf,am gonna keep this one though as insurance and road tax over here is about £140 a year so once you bought the bike pretty cheap to run,do you miss yours?....i bet you do,easy to work on, nice and light, very forgiving and they can shift as well
Have always liked the Kawasaki Ninja 500r bikes, with their retro looks; I have a Kaw K4 vulcan en 500 ltd, almost the same as the ER5 motor wise with a bit lower power, than the Ninja 500r / GPZ-500 series; But great bikes just the same !
Do have a question, how many times did you check & adjust the valves on the Ninja when you had it, just me be curious ?
I remember you saying you did the work on it, in the video... Thanks, yl
Not sure you’ll see this being it’s a 6 year old video at this point. But I’ve had my ninja 500 for about 3 years now. I’m about to modify it, being I have the time with this virus pandemic going on. And being I did lay it down and messed up the fairings. Any advice on what to get next though? Was thinking about getting a Yamaha r1 as my next step. And just to let you know, I have been 120 mph on mine around turns and it handles just fine!!! I was pleasantly surprised by it. Especially being I was riding with a new friend and didn’t know the roads so had to keep up lol. But please reply if you do see this!!
Mine my is a '99 EX500, same colour too.. :)
2,500 miles in 9 months?? Pff, I put 12,000 on my '06 EX500 in a year! :D Love this bike!
Yeah 2,500 is weak
Marshall Jean I put 8,000 on my first bike in 2 months haha
Depends where you live.
My first bike was ninja 250 followed by ninja 500. I wonder how the new ninja 400 compares
Thanks for the motovlog :). Mind if I ask how much you sold it for? I'm looking for my first bike and I feel like ninja 500 would be the best option. A few on cl are selling for around 3k but I feel like it's a bit high.
not really im 14 and ill say it is good if it looks good and has lowmilage and the year just take a look
You are in Colorado. Its weird to see your street on youtube unexpectedly.
What do you think about a Ninja 500 vs a 300 or a older 250? Riding would be mainly street and possible canyons later on. A lot of 300s and 250s are asking for 3000 so I'm looking at these 500s. I also need a heavier bike to get out of my complex (my 300 pound XT250 doesn't set off the gate)
500 all the way 🏍️
Dude you are driving in Colorado the Tech center and you went bast belleview. You went past my apartments. Around the 6 min mark.
Man I just bought a 94 ninja 500. I love it. Good amount of power to be content. Very reliable. Way better than a 250. I have owned it for 3 months and I've put 3000 miles on it already...
Ive got a 94 too gave me carb problems alot left me stranded a couple times but over all fun machine
@@dude6783 hmm that’s unfortunate. Sorry to hear it man. Sounds like you need a rebuild.
@@JDog14diggity yea it started idling super low after being ok then the bike while i was riding started jerking back and forth causing me to pull over and cut someone off then i got it towed home disappointed asf
@@dude6783 I gotcha dude, that def sounds rough but I’m glad you made it off safely. It’ll need a rebuild and get the carbs synchronized.
If you want a faster older bike, get an early Yamaha FZ6, not the FZ6R, it dropped 30hp. The FZ6 is only 3 tenths of a second slower in the 1/4 mile than the R6. Very comfortable sit-up bike. Many in great shape as older guys tended to buy them.
damn... now i need one..
Saludos, yo soy un orgulloso propietario de una kawa 500
Would someone of height 184cm (6 feet) but little bit bigger frame fit well on this bike?
+Zeph what do you think a guy weighing 145 be
why no lover for wrx?
CO? Looks like denver or lakewood street signs
Hey there, First Rate Work. record empty What's your opinion about this, guys
getting mine in 4 months
I have the 250 and the 500,I don't like how the kickstand on the 500 is,it gets in my way when shifting
Take er off and use the center stand!
Just picked up an 01 for $1200 my first bike ever.
I found a 500 for 1,499 with like 9k miles. Any specific things I should look for when going to look at it. I'm unfamiliar with kawasakis
too much man 1000 and lower is what you want
+UExOG you're high. I know this post is old but that's a fan-freaking-tastic price.
UExOG yeah 1 year later and you're high. I came in my pants getting one for $1300 becuase the cheapest street legal decent bike around here is $2000, and once in a while 1800
Isn't the 500R as fast as an STI? At least, looking 0-60, both clock in at the 4 second range.
I bought a 2002 Ninja 500R with only 10k miles on it. How much money you think I could make on it? I'm more than likely going to keep it but, just for shits wanting to know how much I can make.
NADA guides. look at Craigslist. eBay. compare all prices
I know this is a very old video. And I am not trying to be a " troll " here. But he kept saying how slow this bike is. The Ninja 500 can hit 60 in under 6 seconds! And that is "slow" ??? Sure, it is no CBR1000RR, but come on, for every day pleasure riding, the Ninja 500 is a comfortable daily commuter with PLENTY of useable power on tap! :-D
+coyote102076 and it will do a 1/4 mile in the high 13s and low 14s
+coyote102076 That's why it is slow in terms of street bikes. It is one of the smallest bikes in the big bike world where this one definitely belongs to. I'm also riding the 500r for a year now and will continue to do so for atleast this season...
+Blaz Cigale I got the ex500 got it for cheap my first bike and yes to sport bikes its slow but to touring bikes or sport touring its not the sport touring 650 ninja is only like 5kms faster then the 500r so if ur saying this bike is slow then then 650 is slow lol
lol. I always looked at it the other way around. It is the biggest of the SMALL bikes you can get. Blows the wheels off of a Ninja 250, for not too much more weight or loss of fuel economy. So, although YES it is the smallest of big bikes, it is the Largest of the small bikes. :-D
ninja 250R does 5.7s 0-60 (when launched perfectly)
but really it is slow. I ride one. great fun though
This is totally greenwood village colorado :D. I know right where you were driving around lol. Im getting a bike here soon, looking for a riding buddy. Taking my msf course next weekend with ABATE. Cant wait to cruise around right around were you shot this video lol
Crazy I found your video just via google lol
Shoot me a message man
I live in the area and oddly enough just bought a 2007 ninja 500 😂
He literally passed my condo 😂😂😂
What year is this bike?
Hunter Repp 1985-2009
Not begginer, perfect all around bike fer all different ways of riding
it looks like your bike has cruise control hehe
And awsome gas milage
I'm looking at a 97 Ninja 500 for 1,300.
I'm looking at a 1993 for $800. Hopefully everything works.
These are plenty fast for a great time.. Other countries laugh at us calling everything under a 600 slow lol
got those crashes out of your system, huh?
good luck with that.
seriously, bro, say alive.
riding is life.
wtf are you even talking about?
No beginner should start on a R6. A Ninja 500 allows you way more room for error and to become a better rider . To practice in a parking lot and like you said , no be afraid of dropping it. Buying a super expensive bike will make you a rider that is way more timid and less skilled .
God don't have a last name !
Goes to 132mph tops, ride mine at 130mph alot
Wtf bro!!!!! I got mine to 100mph on the freeway an was surprised but didn't think it would hit much more than than I'm impressed
@@chrism8366 i sooped mine up myself
@@chrism8366 fine tuned it.
@@chrism8366 don't do all bat outa hell, speed or power shift. Smooth your speed up , listen to bike ,not look at rpm gauge, switch smooth but fast gear rap all out smooth, not full thoattle rpm maxing. Listen to bike , switch when it says. I'm very experienced rider. Always pay attention to your bike. KNOW YUR BIKE. That's a must regardless of c.i.
@@chrism8366 that's cubic inch (engine size)
2500 miles, you barely rode the bike, I put 12,000 city miles on a ninja 250 before I got a 500r...
TWO problems with a 600cc for a first bike.
1.) You WILL drop it, everyone drops their first bike, no exceptions, so just Get Past that part right now. The people who say they Didn't drop theirs, are lying, they won't admit it, or don't have any miles on their bike.(weekend warriors). They only ride on the weekend for like 30 mile rounds trips and call themselves active riders. Stay AWAY from these kinds of people, they don't know anything.
2.)You WILL be tempted to ride above and beyond your abilities, wheelies, high-speeds, etc. You might have good intentions at first, even IF you're older or mature, but when cars start tail-gating you or pissing you off on the highway, you're gut reaction is "I'll Show these assholes!" and Rpppppppppp you're doing 140mph to lose aggressive drivers! You'd be amazed how quickly a normal sane person can be "pushed" into speeding....its just the slight Flick of the wrist....and the rush in intoxicating, people ARENT ready for it, and have ZERO experience on how to FEEL what a bike is doing and it's traction limitations!
My 1st bike was a 600. It was tough but I'm pretty comfortable on it. I have yet to drop it, thankfully, and I'm actually more of a cruiser so I stay 5mph below the limit.
Mike Fu I put 100+ miles a week commuting on my first bike as well as many weekend cruises. Never dropped it. Most people do but many don't. "Everybody drops their first bike" is nonsense.
Mike Fu Dropped my first bike the day after I bought it lol
Fortunately it was slow speeds and I was able to fix it up cheap.
As far as the second part, nah...I started riding when I was older (about 30), so there's no temptation to be stupid. It's just an enjoyable freeing hobby for me.
Mike Fu been riding 28 years, never dropped a street bike once. First bike was a peaky 2 stroke RZ350 too. Commuted to work all year, even in winter a bit. Still ride 11 months a year in Canada, have had all kinds of bikes except no cruisers.
+Mike Fu Been riding 10 years and I commute regularly on a 600cc sportbike. Around 50 miles every day. Never wrecked or dropped a bike and I've ridden cruisers, sport-touring, super motos, and sportbikes. I realize most guys will lay a bike down at least once, but if you don't push your limits and ride defensively it's possible not to.
Just picked up an 01 for $1200 my first bike ever.
