SV650S - First recorded ride, Part 2: Playing on Deer Creek alongside the bicyclists
So, this is the much delayed second part of my first recorded ride on the SV650. It's just me riding up a section of Deer Creek Canyon Road and then turning around when I ran into traffic; there's not a lot of talk, just periodic thoughts and comments, so maybe play some good music over it.
I debated whether or not I wanted to uploading this video, but I DID put in the editing time, and I recently enjoyed watching it.. so, here it is.

Short video mash-up of the awesome party a couple of friends threw on Memorial Day weekend, 2013. Water fight GoPro footage starts at 1:50 (sorry the footage is pretty shaky.. this is my first time strapping a GoPro to a water gun). Music provided by a certain deceased mouse~ Tree climbing dog is available for weddings and bar mitzfahs
SV650S : Acceleration to 100 and spirited ride south of Denver

I have to give Steven the credit for this one. 5600' of elevation sure cuts into the power up top, and unfortunately, he let off the throttle at about 95 upon seeing the rapidly approaching traffic. So, could have gotten it up a bit higher, but at least he didn't crash or get arrested hah

Part 1 of 3 from the first recorded ride on the 2005 SV650S. I'm just heading toward the mountains while I discuss the new SV as well as other bikes I was considering and bikes for the future I'm still considering. Steven briskly rides my Ninja 500R around the Denver suburbs
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.11 лет назад
Loaned my bike and all my gear to Steven and sent him to make a video documenting some of his exploits. The Ninja 500 may not be that fast, but evidently, you can still have fun with it. I'll give him the keys to my other bike next... hope he doesn't crash. Audio was garbage, so the clips are just edited to flow with some righteous electro house; however, if you're not a fan, turn on your song ...

Part 2 of a brief drive on Deer Creek Canyon Rd. Sorta shot this video vlog style.. as in, I'm rambling about semi-revelant topics while i tear through the mountain roads. I guess that makes it an autovlog. May be more to come. Quality seems to have degraded a lot since uploaded; and a lot of skips and freezes

No beginner should start on a R6. A Ninja 500 allows you way more room for error and to become a better rider . To practice in a parking lot and like you said , no be afraid of dropping it. Buying a super expensive bike will make you a rider that is way more timid and less skilled .

Not sure you’ll see this being it’s a 6 year old video at this point. But I’ve had my ninja 500 for about 3 years now. I’m about to modify it, being I have the time with this virus pandemic going on. And being I did lay it down and messed up the fairings. Any advice on what to get next though? Was thinking about getting a Yamaha r1 as my next step. And just to let you know, I have been 120 mph on mine around turns and it handles just fine!!! I was pleasantly surprised by it. Especially being I was riding with a new friend and didn’t know the roads so had to keep up lol. But please reply if you do see this!!

If you want a faster older bike, get an early Yamaha FZ6, not the FZ6R, it dropped 30hp. The FZ6 is only 3 tenths of a second slower in the 1/4 mile than the R6. Very comfortable sit-up bike. Many in great shape as older guys tended to buy them.

Regarding the speed or lack thereof, EVERYTHING is relative, if you step off a Suzuki Hyabusa this will feel like a pedal cycle but get off your learner 125 (or less) and climb aboard this and you will probably crap your pants. Anyway speed is not the be all and end all of motorcycling, sure it's fun in the right circumstances but here in the UK there are speed cameras around every corner so what is the point of having a 190mph bike??

i bought my ninja 500 in Oct 2014. started riding in may 2015. I wanted more out of a bike after about 1 month. Im 6feet 220lbs. I've gotten her up to a little past 115 mph but it prob tops out 120ish for a lighter person....that was in the 1st month. I still own the ninja 500 but purchased a katana 600 in AUG 2015. much more pick up. The ninja 500 is the perfect beginner bike with a decent amount of pick up but not so much where itll get you in trouble. you can full throttle the 500 and not worry about wheelies. I had a lot of fun on the 500 but you will want to upgrade eventually....

TWO problems with a 600cc for a first bike. 1.) You WILL drop it, everyone drops their first bike, no exceptions, so just Get Past that part right now. The people who say they Didn't drop theirs, are lying, they won't admit it, or don't have any miles on their bike.(weekend warriors). They only ride on the weekend for like 30 mile rounds trips and call themselves active riders. Stay AWAY from these kinds of people, they don't know anything. 2.)You WILL be tempted to ride above and beyond your abilities, wheelies, high-speeds, etc. You might have good intentions at first, even IF you're older or mature, but when cars start tail-gating you or pissing you off on the highway, you're gut reaction is "I'll Show these assholes!" and Rpppppppppp you're doing 140mph to lose aggressive drivers! You'd be amazed how quickly a normal sane person can be "pushed" into speeding....its just the slight Flick of the wrist....and the rush in intoxicating, people ARENT ready for it, and have ZERO experience on how to FEEL what a bike is doing and it's traction limitations!
