Great video! While Luvdisc gets a lot of crap, (and I'd sure never have one on a team either) I've always appreciated it. If only for the encounter on the route to Ever Grande...I loved seeing this new tropical fish and it made the last city feel special and even more exotic.
[5:34] man, this brings me back, rotom is my favorite pokemon ever. Back when I had pearl I had a rotom to my team and I knew one day it would become a bigger part of the franchise, and now its recording dynamax gym battles in galar X3
Dunsparce is single stage? That design just screams "I evolve into something cool." Whenever I see dunsparce I always assume it's the Magikarp of its region.
I’ve long wanted dunsparce to evolve into something reminiscent of a seraphim/ureaus and would evolve into a ____/dragon type. (I wanted it to be a fairy/dragon) it would look like it shared an environment with cofagrigus, sharing a sort of ‘Egyptian’ or mythological appearance.
I would love a gen 5 remake that adds some evolutions to its own pokemon, I like the idea of different Basculins with different abilities for both version, but if it had an evolution it could be amazing, like if the evolutions were similar but not the same but still being the same species that could be really nice PD: I expected you to talk bad about my fav 1 stage pokemon, Sigilyph, but you didn't. That was surprising if you ask me.

Lapras and Dunsparce can easily be given a regional form or evolution With the dragon type as typing Dunsparce being dragon/ ground or electric and Lapras dragon/ water or ice which I would really like to see
I honestly thought that pincurchin was just another form of snom when I first saw it. An electric urchin moth would've been really cool, but alas, we did not get it.
I remember farming luvdisc solely for needing those heart things to teach Pokemon new moves in sapphire. I forgot if that's the exact reason you needed heart things, but i remember hating having to catch them
In my Omega Ruby playthrough I never had to catch one, I found enough heart scales by using rock smash on the boulders (although that made me run into quite a few Geodudes)
Here's mine: none. I think regional reforms for Legendaries are the single worst thing about Sword/Shield. If it's a *unique, legendary beast*, it shouldn't have a flock of different regional varients
Question! Why does everyone dislike Stantler? I used one in Emerald and always saw it as fairly strong with a decent move pool if you got Extrasensory. I’ve seen a lot of hate on it and was intrigued
Until Corvinight came into existence, Skarmory was a simngles GOD. Utility and bulk, with a bit of offensive set up with curse and swords dance for something unusual, too! Even after the new bird became a new staple, Skarm still is doing incredible, pretty sure it instantly dominated and got banned from UU, and can still function really well in OU, just for the first time it has real competition.
Skarmory is mainly good defensively, and has been a great Pokemon in competitive play literally ever since it was first introduced. And while it MAY get access to swords dance, the idea of it being good offensively is honestly laughable due to it's lacking attack and speed stats
First time through black I had a basculin for most of the run. I have never understood all the hate it gets, considering its actually a pretty decent water type. Sure its not super powerful like some, but it has great abilities and reliable stats and if you just need a committed water type coverage/surfer, he's perfectly adequate. (Obviously Tirtouga is better, but if you made the mistake like me of choosing Archeops, then Basculin will do you just fine)
At 7:30 (it's a few seconds later, but I wanted to include context), I'm sure you meant to use the term "coincidentally" instead of "ironically." It would have been ironic if Mimikyu had been deemed unviable and unloved by the fanbase since this would have been contrary to its goal of being loved. It's not a major mistake, but it did grab my attention. Awesome video, as per usual, by the way! 😁
Not be a math nerd. But the amount of pokemon does not increase exponentially. That would mean that it would grow by a certain factor over a certain measure of time. Dubbel every year, or increase by 50% every 2 months etc. Every generation a number of pokemon are added, and while the exact number of added pokemon varies from game to game, the growth would still resemble lineair the best. Math teacher out.
@@BrianStorm742 I think as a design its just ok. But he is one of the Pokémon that I really like using from this generation. He has solid stats and a solid move set
It's not exactly a great thing when your Spdef is so slow that even with the steel typing, you still get ko'd by moonblast. Plus I think he's too slow, should have been base 95 rather than 85.
I love Basculin, one of my favourites since its introduction. Just a silly little guy, not sure I wanted to see a frightening evolved piranha, so I just raised a red stripe to Lv 100 in my Black team. Then it got Basculegion anyway and ohhhh my goooood
Basculin isn't useless. Basculin can actually be viable if you use it correctly. with pretty decent abilities on it's side. so it's not a complete let down
It was literally invented because the developers realized they needed a generic fish to drop in the ocean and didn't have one yet, that counts for something.
@@BioniclesaurKing4t2 Basculin actually outspeeds over half the dex with a base speed of 98 which is faster than most legendaries. and has the same attack stat as Nidoking(before gen 7 gave it a 10 point buff)being base 92 and when combined with great abilities such as Adaptability, Rock Head, Reckless, and Mold Breaker it has a lot of variety and options and can hit like a truck. so don't underestimate the Unovan Magikarp.
I don’t comment often, but I watch a lot of Pokétubers.. and I just have to say that Emperor Q is ALWAYS coming out with great video ideas and 10/10 narration. People like MandJTV and true green annoy me these days, Emperor Cubone is forever.
With many new Hisuian Pokémon evolving from base forms in a way not seen since Gen 4 sans Sylveon (Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, and Kleavor come to mind), I have hope that Dunsparce might evolve into something cool in Gen 9 or at some point. I hope it isn’t an alternate form and then an evolution like Sneasler or Overqwil, it would be sad for Dunsparce to flail uselessly in its base form for all eternity

Dunsparce has a pretty funny lockdown type of set with Glare and Headbutt spam. You can get a pretty high chance of the enemy not being able to do anything with a combination of paralysis from Glare and headbutt flinching with Dunsparce's ability Serene Grace. Its cheesy but can work.
Emperor Cubone: "Lapras is the best single stage Pokemon."
Hawlucha and Dracovish: "And I took that personally."
The idea of the “dunspruce” pun actually seems really good. Making a regional variant for my region that evolves by friendship into Dunspruce.
Emperor Cubone: Basculin doesn't evolve
Me: Introducing hisui
I’m watching this when Scarlet and Violet and Arceus is out. lol
Great video!
While Luvdisc gets a lot of crap, (and I'd sure never have one on a team either) I've always appreciated it. If only for the encounter on the route to Ever Grande...I loved seeing this new tropical fish and it made the last city feel special and even more exotic.
I would definitely love to see a "Best/Worst Pokemon that used to be single stage." And you could include regional evolutions.
LMAO! I love how done you were when talking about Stunfisk. You sounded so pissed at the fact that you even had to talk about it that I lost it lol
I honestly really like Galarian Stunfisk, just because I've wanted a Pokemon based on a Bear Trap for so long.
Unpopular oppinion: stonjourner is one of my fave pokemon of shield and sword- its so cute XD
Same
Basculin is getting an evolution!!!
I’m willing to bet most people love mimikyu more than actual pikachu
I find it really funny how I'm playing ultra sun and ultra moon right now and I literally caught a shiny Sunfisk 🤣
I would love a gen 5 remake that adds some evolutions to its own pokemon, I like the idea of different Basculins with different abilities for both version, but if it had an evolution it could be amazing, like if the evolutions were similar but not the same but still being the same species that could be really nice
PD: I expected you to talk bad about my fav 1 stage pokemon, Sigilyph, but you didn't. That was surprising if you ask me.
I have a soft-spot for single-stage Pokémon, so choosing to watch this video was probably a bad choice, but it’s certainly well made.
watchinng in march 2023 (after the release of Legends and S/V), its interesting to see how this has aged.
No criticism tho, how could u know if/when they gain more stages?
14:20 LAPRAS TEETH
With Basculegion and now Dudunsparce, I feel like in about 5 years this list'll be completely outdated.
I know right? There's not gonna be any single stage Pokemon left!
Absolutely love Heracross ❤️ I wasn’t sure you were gonna add her but I agree, Lapras is the absolute best 😆 Love the ice typing, it’s worth the hassle and you’re right; she’s the ultimate Pokemon in so many ways, she could be as symbolic as Pikachu ⚡️ Nicely done 🔥
Lapras and Dunsparce can easily be given a regional form or evolution
With the dragon type as typing
Dunsparce being dragon/ ground or electric and Lapras dragon/ water or ice which I would really like to see
Stunfisk out here being treated like Butters as Margorine - “You said I’m ugly and I’m flat!”
Imagine being here after PLA & SV
Stantler, Girafarig, Dunsparse, Basculin
I honestly thought that pincurchin was just another form of snom when I first saw it. An electric urchin moth would've been really cool, but alas, we did not get it.
11:48 EC: Basculin is the worst non legend non ultra beast single stage Mon
*Basculegion has joined the chat*
I remember farming luvdisc solely for needing those heart things to teach Pokemon new moves in sapphire. I forgot if that's the exact reason you needed heart things, but i remember hating having to catch them
In my Omega Ruby playthrough I never had to catch one, I found enough heart scales by using rock smash on the boulders (although that made me run into quite a few Geodudes)
Dudunsparce: I'm from the future, let me introduce my self.
Emperor Cubone, do a list of the top 10 Legendary Pokémon that you would like to see get Regional Forms
Hmm, that could be interesting. I might just do it...
Here's mine: none.
I think regional reforms for Legendaries are the single worst thing about Sword/Shield. If it's a *unique, legendary beast*, it shouldn't have a flock of different regional varients
@@puddlel1ama327 True. Same for starters.
Yep, and it didn't even need a Mega or Gigantamax form gimmick like other Pokemon from Gens 1 and 2.
Just wondering where is duraludon? Feel like steel/dragon with amazing stats should be on the list :)
I… didn’t know stonjourner was a real Pokémon I thought it was fakemon. I’ve never ran into one in the dlc 😂
Trust me, I wish it was!!
Do one for best and worst way to evolve Pokémon. My number 1 pick of worst is trade evolution
Hmm... That could be a good topic too.
Don't forget whatever is going on with galarian yamask. Like what?
No, trade evolution with a hold item (or for a specific target in the case of a certain pair) is obviously even worse than a standard trade evolution.
Especially s helmet and karrablast
Good thing basculin is finally getting an evolution, hopefully it’s actually good though
6:05 Its only redeeming factor is that it has heart scales.
Stonjourner does look like it would be a Temtem and I will never unsee it now
Not be a math nerd.
Where is duraladon? Gotta be up there for single stage Pokémon
I don't think you realise how unimpressed many people are with it.
It’s better than some that did make it
I am not a fan of the design
I love Basculin, one of my favourites since its introduction. Just a silly little guy, not sure I wanted to see a frightening evolved piranha, so I just raised a red stripe to Lv 100 in my Black team. Then it got Basculegion anyway and ohhhh my goooood
Fun fact: If dunceparse ( however it's written) got an evolution it wouldn't be used, because, just like Corsola, it would be better to use eviolite
This is a trip to listen to with the knowledge of years later
@@jeffhirsh5722 All true. But it's face…
(Joking a bit, but still.)
@@BioniclesaurKing4t2 yeah it looks ugly but that's the point it's supposed to be a bad tempered ugly mean old bass
Am I the only one that fell in love with Mimikyu because I found it CUTER than the original Pikachu???
No. No you're not.
Dunsparce is feckin amazing wtf
i cant believe you dissed both my man dunsparce and stantler in the same breath
As the only Basculin fan in the entire fandom, I understand your choice, but it saddens me.
Lmao basculin is actually stronger, this dude is a jerk
Stunfisk was my first shiny. I've never been so excited and disappointed in my life. I've been playing since gen 1🤣
I'm so sorry. Although I actually don't mind the Galarian shiny that gets back the colors of the original. That's pretty cool...
I don’t comment often, but I watch a lot of Pokétubers.. and I just have to say that Emperor Q is ALWAYS coming out with great video ideas and 10/10 narration. People like MandJTV and true green annoy me these days, Emperor Cubone is forever.
I have to agree
With many new Hisuian Pokémon evolving from base forms in a way not seen since Gen 4 sans Sylveon (Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, and Kleavor come to mind), I have hope that Dunsparce might evolve into something cool in Gen 9 or at some point. I hope it isn’t an alternate form and then an evolution like Sneasler or Overqwil, it would be sad for Dunsparce to flail uselessly in its base form for all eternity
The funny thing about this is that bascluin is more used in competitive look it up on sword and shield smogon
Basculin is in the third lowest tier
While lapras is in the bottom tier
Yeah... there's more to Pokemon than competitive. Also "third lowest" doesn't seem that impressive.
Thirst lowest tier? What's that? You could have RU, NU or PU, depending if you consider NFEs and LC as tiers. I know this comment is probably useless but just wanted to point that out.
@@emperorcubone thats mean its strong and not like what u said in this hated video ughhh. Its strong that its usable percentage were high. Ur just nooob in competetive
@@emperorcubone it’s decent in competitive it’s has average speed and attack with a decent move set and great abilities also I wasn’t insulting you I was making a joke I never said competitive mattered the most I’m just putting a point across
@@CradilyBestPokemon I’m saying
UBERS OU UU RU NU PU ZU
And basculin is now in Pu it was in nu then
I swear that skarmory is the only Pokémon that I keep forgetting is from gen 2. That Pokémon was so common in Hoenn that I don’t ever recall seeing it in Johto by any trainer or in the wild
I've seen people say the same about Natu and Xatu since they were difficult to find in Johto as well...
@@emperorcubone nope lol Natu & Xatu are wayy too synonymous with Johto, we’ve never seen them populated in any other region. Plus the ruins of Alph is well known to have them, so I don’t buy that. The first person you battle there is a trainer with one, and that area is completely on brand for hosting that mysterious evolutionary line.
I thought that about slugma and magcargo as well
@@sand747 that’s another great point, forgot about that as well. Johto has such a small dex that it’s crazy to think anyone would misplace or leave out any Pokémon from that generation
