    Great tip on torqueing the lines with both bolts installed as not to break the bolt boss on the lower mount. I have to replace the VVT hose on a Rav V6 moving the ps pump but not the lines. Get that boss TIG welded for sure!

      Thanks! Yea I had just done that same repair (the VVT hose) prior to replacing the pump and I did it the same way as you. Figured I would share this mistake so others don't have to do the same. Because replacing the front timing cover (which that piece is a part of) is no small endeavour! But TIG weld is a good idea

    Thanks for sharing Frankie, it still makes for good content, and it is realistic content which is valuable information.
    When working on a car or doing plumbing I tend to break more stuff in the process than I am fixing, so I have a lot of respect for folks who do this professionally.

      Thank you sir! Well the same goes for me.. as you can see from exhibit A above! 😂 The main reason I shared it is because I didn't really see many vids for this repair on this make/model/year. And working on cars really scratches that repair itch when I can't be in the electronics lab. I really enjoy it!

      Thanks for going easy on me! But now you might judge me... still haven't done anything to it yet. the piece is still sandwiched in there. It's been perfectly fine

      @@fmashockie I just had the engine out of my brother's 2009 Sienna, can confirm what broke is the timing chain cover and yes you must drop the engine to replace it. Sounds like you got lucky with your quick fix holding there. You could have that ear TIG welded back on, or JB weld could be strong enough too. Good luck!

      @lithium386 thanks! I still haven't welded it or jb welded it yet... But it is still in place. Hasn't budged a bit. I was thinking of making a bracket to attach it to a nearby bolt if there's enough clearance. Probably pushing my luck at this point. I'm not too worried about it but will fix it proper once it gets warmer out. I'd consider DIYing engine removal if the 2GR-fe wasn't so big. Did you do that without a lift?

      @fmashockie yep I did it without a lift. Took a bunch of 2x4s and a few floor jacks. And some bravery. For the reinstall I did retrieve my engine hoist and that was less sketchy. If you have access to a lift it's worth using. But honestly they designed it to drop out without too much fuss. The passenger rear sub frame tends to rust to the chassis. I had to beat it with a big hammer after removing the bolt to make the cradle drop.

      @@lithium386 Nice! So I actually live close to a place called UWrenchit - a lift rental shop. It is relatively cheap and definitely worth it for jobs less than a few hours. Idk if they would let me do a multiday job tho. And I would imagine it would require a couple days for me to do an engine removal on my own (plus whatever job I have to do). I feel the only thing stopping me from keeping this car (besides trans and frame rot) would be an issue with the engine that would require dropping it. Like VVTI gears and head gaskets. I'd love to be able to do those myself on my own time.

    Partner... You can get "Welding Rods" to weld that bolt ear back on. Did you use the "Dielectric compound" on the coil boots?

      Thanks Joel! Ive never done any welding before. So I'd have to look into that. Also, the ignition coils were probably the first repair I did on this vehicle when I was very green to car repair... So I don't think I did...
