Fantastic Mr. Coffin. I used to play your songs all the time working at the gas station a few years back, folks would always ask what I was listening to, most everyone loved the tunes. To this day, some of my favourite music.
This is one of several of David Coffin's songs that I keep coming back to. They're are soooo good. I listened to some of his older stuff recently, and it's also really good, but I think age has added a really beautiful note that carries so well with shanties. Love it all so much.
Just finished putting the lego Pirate ship with my girlfriend (both 33 years old people) while listening to many versions (including polish - pieśń wielorybników) of this song, Mr. David, you have a trully powerfull voice, along with 'roll the old chariot' those are two song we learned from hearth and sing sometimes. Cheers and lot of healthy years to you and your loved ones:)
Awesome David! Great soulful performance. I started playing concertina when I first saw you on YT performing “No more fish, no fishermen“... it got me.
@@naturalmusicman444 I'm a beginner myself and still learning. David helped me with some infos and so I might give you this advice as well: There are many different types of concertinas out there. The most common are the anglo and the english concertina. The anglo makes two different tones when squeezing or pulling (like a harmonica). The english gives the same tone when squeezing and pulling. Check the internet to decide which of both fits your needs. David plays the english concertina in this video. You can easily tell by the thumbstraps. The anglo has straps around the whole hand. I bought an old Hohner which is ok for me. Had to do some little repairings. It is in a treble tone and is higher toned than the one in this video. Concertina Connection has two english concertinas which are nice as well but hard to get in germany: The "Jack" ( lower tones) and the "Jackie" (Higher tones but more buttons). You can easily spend thousands of euros for a good concertina. But that's for later for me...
@@naturalmusicman444 Sorry to be long responding. I play English Concertina. It’s great for accompanying singing. This one is a Wheatstone baritone-treble, dated 1912, with Amboyna ends. I searched for about 15 years before finding this one. Not cheap for sure but many happy miles on it now.
Love traditional music, love Stan Rogers and good old A.L. Lloyd singing shanties and forebitters etc but you David are my absolute top pick for shantyman. Love the concertina and your powerful awesome voice. Streaming is great but I love the physical format so I need to order some of your CDs soon.
DandyDiamond 617 If I had sheet music I would surely share it with you. This version of the song didn’t have an instrumental break so not sure what you’re specifically looking for.
@@DavidCoffinMusic I was looking for sheet music to hopefully play on an instrument the rhythm you played with your concertina as I hope I'll soon be able to purchase an instrument of my own
A truly glorious voice.
Thank you. Very kind.

If I ever have kids, this is what I'll play when they're being put to bed so they'll dream of adventures at sea
this summers sailing will include Sea Shanties in the cockpit. I have been playing all of this concert with Closed Captions to learn the songs.

Incredible voice. Thanks for the listen.

Can I have sheet music for the instrumental

DandyDiamond 617 The only thing I can suggest is learning it by ear. That’s the “folk process”. There’s nothing too complicated. Cheers.
@@DavidCoffinMusic I lad, thanks :)
Wow😊🍺☠️
you've ever read moby dick m8?
your songs sing like a soundtrack for it lmao
