Hey guys! This was a ton of fun flying as a -2 for the first time in a long time, too bad my leader got shot down haha! This mission created by Kortana has a lot of elements that I am going to incorporate into future Spuds Buds missions such as civilian air traffic using the civil aircraft mod!
Lead “I expect you to stay in formation with me at all times, should I clarify?” *flies straight into a fox-3(?) without blinking* Two “well that takes some of the pressure off”
That’s why you stay FAR away from tomcats. Lead got clapped by a Mach 5 pheonix and didn’t even have a chance to react. It still amazes me how tech from the 1960s is so good that t can do that against modern fighters. Also, you buttered that landing.
SEAD was already incredibly fun in the F-16C... Now it's INSANE! Especially if you have a 4 ship... Some can have Harm. Some can have CAP/CAS loadout... Or any and all hybrid/mix of loadouts between the four. I'm a patron yet can't really figure out discord.. Any advice on how to get in on these missions?
Hey! Join the discord via the link in the description, and send me or any of the other admins a private message! I can hook you up with the mission-ready pilots role so you get a ping when the signup sheets are up. Note, we play on DCS Open Beta version and the Simple Radio Standalone mod is required.
Ok so I am not the only one with the HAD problens. Yeah it seems kinda buggy currently. When having a target selected on the HAD your TGP will slew to that location. Sometimes it will get stuck there and you can not move your TGP unless you unlock the HAD. This causes the TGP to go to the center again and basically does not allow you to scout the area after having found a target with the HAD. I assume it will be fixed in a few months but it's currently not really usable for anything other than sending off harms.
Hey Spud, I noticed in your first Magnum that you found the SAM with the Harm pod, then sent it to the TGP and locked with it and fired. On the second, it looks like you locked and fired from the HTS alone? What's the difference, and when is it better to go one way or the other? Thanks!!
Pretty sure the missile slaves to the HTS pod which tells it what kind of radar signal to lock on to in both cases. You optionally use the TGP as well just to get a visual identification and confirming that the HTS has triangulated the position well enough, or to refine a markpoint that can also be used for other kinds of weapons. Using only the HTS pod is faster and easier, but if you're close to the range limitations of the missile you may fire at something that is a little bit too far away and the missile won't be guaranteed to reach the target.
doesnt really matter, biggest diffrence is that the open beta client has a free trial where you can test every plane for 2 weeks. but you cant go wrong really
Just want to add that I used to use the non steam version but it really does not matter. Currently using the steam version. You simply have to actively opt in to the beta updates (easy to do) to get the current version of the game. Edit: Once you purchase stuff you can not exchange dlcs between steam and non steam. So choose before you buy.
See, I like DCS because it's the closest thing most of us will ever get to flying real fighter jets, but the 'flying 30 minutes to an AO' and '2 minutes of intercept and elimination' just for another 'fly 30 minutes to RTB' is kinda boring to me. I understand that's how it is in real life, but maybe I just have a short attention span and need to play the game more. (And actually buy a HOTAS, so I can fly instead of keyboard commands and a crappy Logitech X3D.)

Can you link the mods in the description?

I’ve got the same problem, my TGP regularly gets bugged and I can’t move it. It boresights and prevents me from slewing.
Damn it my computers dead again for the second time this year and im again missing my DCS play time.
Does the civ traffic mod show on radar?
Yep! :)
Do you your mission files at all please ?
Hi, where i can find the mission please?

@@Agilaz89 gotcha, thanks for the detailed, well written answer!!
Also noticed for the first magnum he didn't wait for PGM2 or triangulated, which I thought was standard practice.
Hi, great video, but some beginner help please. Steam or non steam version. Thanks.
Im fairly certain that the non steam, beta release is the most common used client. Its what i use.

what you need to do is stay in form and turn that alert off main
