    Great Video Nate. I wanted to clarify on behalf of the Boost: The Boost product won't necessarily hold the target RH longer than the salts, but in many cases, it will still have the ability to hold some moisture long after other packs have dried out.

    Took my Integra 62 67 gram right out of the pack and put it in with 2 humidistats that have read the same as 5 additional ones in my house. Stayed at 50% over 2 weeks, never even saw 60. 62% for storage, 57% in your smoking jar.

    You mentioned that some people say, Boveda takes away the smell in whole stored buds. I read somewhere, this is true, but for good reason. Boveda traps the terpene's in the flower with a moisture barrier and they are preserved there. Then when the buds are ground, the flavor and aroma comes out, fresh and strong. I just started using them, so can't say first hand if it works like that, but if it does, it's very cool.

      If that was the case, the Boost would do the same. Lots of people are laughing at them for coming up with that story.

    Hey, could you speak on the science behind desiccantion rates, salt vs gelatin?

    • @sierrafly8669
      @sierrafly8669 8 лет назад +11

      in the lab, the glycerin absorbed moisture faster than the salts we tested. However, when rehydrating plant material, we felt a slower transfer would allow for the different plant structures to absorber at a more consistent rate which would help maintain structural integrity.
      Having said that, we use many different films for our products and if the industry wants faster, we can make it faster. Time will tell.
      What are your thoughts?

      Even so what you quoted still proves you to be wrong "responds to relative humidity" as in it adjusts it.

    to be honest, for people claiming that Boveda change the smell and taste, you clearly havent use Integra long enough.... I had some integra in 5 different jars of 5 different strains, and after a month of storage, the 5 strains were smelling the same gross smell. No weed smell at all just garbage. the packs smells shit! thx Integra for ruining few zips.Had boveda in 5 others jars with the same 5 strains that I used in Integra, but the jars that I used boveda smell a bit less strong, but same good proper smell to the strain. sticking with Boveda

    • @brettgoudy4636
      @brettgoudy4636 5 лет назад +40

      I disagree. I have tried both for a year or greater, and operating previously in medical cannabis dispensaries, and delivery services , and find Integra is a clearly better product for a few reasons. First, I have a sensitive nose and can't smell it on any of the 100s of jars ive had it in. boveda on the other hand. works fine for about 75/100 jars, but 25/100 leak smell of the pack it self. The boveda is a chemical salt (potassium citrate monohydrate) with water 20-50% RO water and 0-2 % xantham gum. Integra is a natural vegetable based gelatin+glycerin and water. As a grower who takes proper steps to dry and cure my buds, I don't use boveda at all any more and strongly advocate others avoid them as well. Maybe you don't have the nose to smell whats happening, but it leaves a stink in the jars and buds it touches that keen nose will not enjoy. Let the true terpenes shine and use nothing and naturally burp jars and cure to 62% on your own, or boost your buds with integra. my 2 cents. i got no dog in the fight, i purchased and used both, and I can't track down the ig posts, but ive heard growers with clean flower have their buds fail testing after being stored at dispensary using boveda, but not at others (flower was proven clean at multiple other outlets). Boveda is the more well known as it has been around, but integra is a great example of a new and improved product. no salts to be terp theives and no chemicals leaking out of semi porous *boveda patent* packaging into flower

    Are you aware that you can reuse these? They will take much much longer to dry out if you add a RAW hydrating terra hydrastone in there from time to time. They may even be able to be used indefinitely I don't know. I can tell you I have softened up the 8gr Boveda's time and time again. Adding a mini hygrometer looks interesting I may have to try that.

      Most expensive cannabis in the U.S. comes with a little %55 boost packet. I’m using 62 boost to cure. They can’t bring %80 down to %62 RH though. And because there 2 way they can become more saturated with moisture. Always use a hydrometer to make sure your not getting into a moldy zone. Better to be a little dry than wet. Easy to increase moisture. Cannabis is garbage if too wet in jars. It will mould.

      And that smell/taste quality with the Bovidas can be true, but that's after they dry up (I'd guess 5-7 months in complete storage). If you switch them up every 3-4 months you're good. He's right they both work perfectly fine!!!

      @@schneir5 Yeah they're both amazing! The Integra were just a bit cheaper at the time, but have a bunch of Boveda from dispensaries. Have a nice stash from Covid built up, so I got an ammo storage container from harbor freight which has a nice silicone grommet seal Boveda metal pack holdere seal, got the little metal tray that holds em from Boveda, mounted it to the top. I feel Integra lasts a bit longer, like the gel, but especially love the included card that lets you know it's time for a new pack. I keep all my concentrate in a smaller pelican case which is ideal for storage/protection and not only silicone sealed, but also has an auto patented internal air release valve, which helps with all types of helpful features like floating and keeping all your stuff protected and dry, and crush proof as well. You can get models with locks. Harbor Freight also now has a new line of BEAUUUTIFUL different size/color Pelican case knock-offs, but they help up extremely well on comparison RUclips vids, so I do plan on getting one of the bit larger "suitcase"ish sized ones w/the pluck foam(included) to make a perfect cozy spot for my rig and banger etc.. and some storage under that for product and accessories, since the Pelican one I want is a few hundred $'s(worth it), but Harbor Freight dropped the big ones in safety orage and desert khaki and green, Highest model is around 50$ which is INSANE! But anyways, ya like they say in the vid, I'm pretty indiff on Boveda vs Integra, imma grab whatever the best deal is on at the moment! 😝 Drop in a 62% 4 or 8 gram into each 1/8th container right after purchase and usually within 48 hours I feel the nugs have returned to a perfect dank cure.. the ONLY thing I use 58% for is stuff I've already ground, that's in my ever rotating container of pre-ground or me ground, 58 seems perf for getting rolled up.. Everything else stays at 62% keeping them nugs fresh and terpified! The dispensaries used to give you the packs or they were already in your 1/8th which I loved cuz its all dry now, so why not toss in a pack and improve your product again like before? Lol

      @@thunderjoy7250 It depends on the humidity of your flower. Mine have lasted through 4-6 harvests if you get your stuff down to around 65%-67% on it's own and then throw in the packs. (I also use way more than suggested...usually 2 of the 62 gram ones in each 2 gallon jar filled 2/3 or 3/4 of the way. Basically the only ones that ever had more than a light hard feeling on the outside are ones that were mistakenly left out of the jar for too long. Now the little tiny ones are another story, those seem pointless to me. I got them to use in my "daily smoke" container but it was hard as a rock after a week and they don't even stay hydrated while stored inside the ziplock they come in.

When you smoke daily a lot of dry air will come into your jars so that's my guess on why they don't last. Maybe trying to close the jar directly ater taking your bud out can help.

    • @christopherstein2024
      @christopherstein2024 3 года назад +1

      I think he was talking about something else. When cannabis dries out it releases the terpenes and when you open the jar those terpenes that have left into the air will be present in the form of a strong smell. What that means is that properly stored weed will be less smelly when you open your jar because the terpenes are kept in the buds. But when you grind them or smoke them larger amounts of preserved terpenes will be released and you will have stronger smell/taste.
