My great great grandfather Private William Garner and my great great great uncle Private John N Garner both of the 32nd Tennessee Infantry regiment fought in this campaign
Wow that's Awesome🙏🙏🙏
This was a great film, I really enjoyed it. It looked like a picture of the Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg when the narration was talking about the Western front around the 2:40 mark, is that correct? Growing up in Fredericksburg, I'm very familiar the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancersville, the Wilderness campaign, Spotsylvania Courthouse, etc. Thank you for the work that you do on these lesser known (to me anyway) battles of the Civil War!
How is the 2:40 mark wrong??
I'm pretty sure I didn't say that was wrong. I asked a question.
@@TheRevFireman630 Sorry miss read it!!
@@jamesrichardson3322 No worries.
@@TheRevFireman630 without Atlanta, Chattanooga, Vicksburg, Cornith, New Orleans, Memphis, Meridian,Mississippi, Nashville and etc. The Confederacy life was severed East to West, it was only matter of time the Confederacy would fall
This clip is good.
should've uploaded somethin for July 21st 2021. Yesterday was the 160th anniversary of the first major battle of the Civil War! July 21st 1861.
Which battle?
@@floridaboy6931 1st Bull Run. Or 1st Manassas as Southerners call it.
Thank you for the remembrance lesson. We are no longer to explore and learn about this period of our Republic's history.
@Yankee Heritage I do agree sir!!
One of the greatest campaign of the war, The battle of Atlanta, Sherman and his men brought the Western Confederate Army to it's knees. The Army of Tennessee fought so bravely against the Federal Army, I have respect to those men.
Grant and sherman were the first modern generals which will influence american doctrine in ww2
@@shanewoody4232 Sherman and Grant were father's of modern warfare
@@jamesrichardson3322 america will end up using the same strategy in the later parts of the indian wars, ww2, and the Persian Gulf war. Eisenhower was heavily influenced by General Grant and sherman just look at the allie bombings of Germany or the invasion of france
@@shanewoody4232 The also used in Vietnam
Every now and then the South must be reminded which side won the war.
Even thou the southern people are stronger and better to live in,not like the snotty stuck up northern people 😂
@Vh Hurtado Well we are one fucking country, are we not?
@@georgegillespie3737
You mispelled "fucked up". 🇺🇸
Still, the best place to live....for now.
Thank you for this there isn't hardly any documentaries on General Hood. Also anyone know why General Hood wasted his men in full frontal charges? That seems completely against his character.
No clue but Hood was a damn idiot as a CSA man I can say that Hood was an idiot for what he did at Franklin and Nashville
@@thesouthernhistorian4153 As a Union man I totally agree with you, Hood was a fool to charge head on against Federal lines. Have you been to Franklin TN and Nashville ?
@@jamesrichardson3322 I wish I could go since I live here in my beloved state of Texas but the biggest reason why I hate Hood was what he did to my ancestors who served in Granberry's Texas brigade I had 2 who served only one survived the charge at Franklin the other lost a leg and was sent to a Yankee prison camp and barely survived
Maybe he was corrupt?
@@BoilaFrog I was thinking not of sound mind due to his injuries nothing about him says corrupt.
My Great Grandfathers older brother was in the 9th Texas Infantry here. He had a rough time , but lived until 1929 and buried here in Texas
Huzzah for the southern boys who did their best defending their Native Land!
Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah for the Northern boys who came to the defense of our great nation 🇺🇸, and won!!
@@jamesrichardson3322 even though I don't like Yankees I can agree that your boys fought just as bravely and Heroically as our men
5:46 That's a girl.... lol 🤣🤣
@@jamesrichardson3322 now the northern people are snotty liberals 😂
@@b-trucker7717 Not everyone is this way, that what you assume!! Yes there are lot leftist Democratic, up here.
The title is Sherman vs Hood. I wanted to hear more about Hood.
They don't look like 18-30 years old
Pandu Sarjsdi I am a American Civil War Federal reenactor, and it hard to get young people to get interested in the hobby. Because lack of interest in the period and the cost of getting into the hobby. Towards the end of the war in 1864 and 1865, older men started volunteering for service do it the lack your men left to fight in the war for southern states.
This is somewhat period correct!!
