Yeah. That's what they did at the Metallica free show in Philadelphia. I was the 10th person through the gates. Shortly after they only allowed a trickle of fans to come in. That didn't last. The show was 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the stadium complex parking lot. Needless to say I never felt the ground shake like that. Metallica ruled that afternoon. Peace out
Eight years after their first album and definitely in their prime. The eponymous "black album" took metal mainstream in America and made them massively popular, though some of us feel that they were never quite the same afterwards. Phenomenal live band, as always. Worked the crowd in the old-school way, if you like that kind of thing. Fix the audio if you can- for the listener this is like hearing it on the radio from fifty feet away.
I've seem this humdreds of times. They stopped counting at 1.6 million... This was the Monsters of Rock. As much as Metallica deserves it, this whole crowd wasn't necessarily there for JUST Metallica.
The music video came out of sync with the music at times which is really annoying, my apologies. Hope you enjoyed :)
Now go watch The Thing That Should Not Be live in Seattle 1989
Yes! legendary concert. One of the best in metal history.
I second that 🤘🤘 and just for all same, seattle 89 another banger
50k hahaha they stopped counting at 1.6 million and just started letting people walk through the gates!

Saw Metallica open for Ozzy in 1986 still have a ticket stub and the shirts totally life-changing.
