I have enough trouble squaring up a board with nice power tools in a nice shop with good lighting. It blows my mind how someone could build such a beautiful work of art with hand tools.

Delightful. I can empathise with the husband. I've a bad habit of remembering only *that* I hid something, and not at all *where* I hid it. I'm not sure I'd ever find anything again if I owned a cabinet like that.

@WRHarveyAntiquesLtd as a woodworker, I would be fascinated to learn how it was actually made. Do you know of any videos or books on the construction of this or other hidden compartment furniture please? Do know the name of the master craftsman?

@WRHarveyAntiquesLtd I have learned so much this past year about carpentry, cabinet making and construction. I'm trying to start my own woodworking business repurposing and refurbishing items to keep them out of the landfill. I really think it would be fun to make furniture with hidden compartments as my trademark.
By any chance do you know of any books or websites that would help me learn the design elements of hidden compartments please?
