@jonbourgoin182 Smackdown 1 atleast had better loading times in the career mode. Smackdown 2's career mode was horrible because of the horrible loading times when you skip matches it was pretty bad you spend more time on the vs menu waiting to skip matches then actually playing the career mode itself no idea what they were thinking that alone no mercy and even wm 2000 smashes smackdown 2

Also SD 1 had the ministry of darkness undertaker which is a big advantage in my opinion. I had an n64 as a kid that generation so I was playing all the aki wrestling games back then so me personally I didn't suffer from that lol. When I got a ps2 in 2001 I was blown away with Just Bring it when it first came out though
As a kid i loved the warzone and attitude games. Smackdown was too fast and the The dumbest thing I didn't like about it was that the wrestlers didn't have the sound of their voices when they hit each other like attitude did. The voice just added something more to it that felt better.
Yeah I love both those titles as well. They had an arcade feel to them that I loved. And despite what people say, I believe that effort and some love was put into those games as well. Very charming. Plus I think people exaggerate the move commands difficultly.
@@ComaAlpha yeah, off the walls craziness. I can't think of another WWE game that allows you to throw a couch at your opponents. Or bust through a wall to enter the closed off wash room. 😂
No mercy is way better. The slow loading times with smackdown 2 ruins it for me but not only that but the gameplay is just better in no mercy its more realistic too

It's definitely chaotic. I think SD2 is the fastest in the series too. It's a out thinking on your feet and planning your next moves but it gets hectic quick.
No Mercy is MILES better than Smackdown. Hated the arcade, fast paced gameplay of Smackdown. No Mercy felt better in all aspects (obviously audio isn't as good but I'm talking about gameplay) The fact the wrestlers looked odd in No Mercy didn't really matter too me.

I just preferred the more realistic gameplay of No Mercy....it's why I don't like WWE 2K24 that much,with all the no selling (even from jobbers), instant recoveries after finishers and silly gimmicks like black outs, fireballs etc etc. Smackdown was good fun at times but gameplay just felt frustrating too me as well.

Only drawback is load times.

Safe to say that these wrestling games were the peak of its time back then. Even though I never a PS1 to play the early Smackdown games
Yeah, seems like your parents had to work for NASA if you wanted both a PS1 and N64 at the time. Or have siblings who were willing to share.
I started on the smackdown games bcz I had a PS1 at the time. Played No Mercy at a later time. I must say, both of em are legendary in there on way.

Didn't Smackdown 1 and 2 come out the same year? Or at least like 8 months apart? It was as if SmackDown 1 was just a prototype.
That's how I always thought of Smackdown! 1. It was released in March of 2000. So yeah about 8 months.
That’s why I skipped Smackdown 2 for almost a year as I preordered the first game and was really disappointed so I got No Mercy instead.

I can't remember, but I think someone came out with a mod that removed the battle meters at least. Only took 20+ years. 😂

I check it out with my brother around 2006 a few times but honestly I was never anything other than a WWE guy.
I think I prefer SmackDown! 2 over the AKIs due to the Gameplay, season, and Music

Yeah Cage matches in the Smackdown series were not my favorite. Crazy it took until Smackdown vs Raw 2006 to add the mini game systems to it.

Smack down 2 was garbage … nobody ever mentions that game in they’re top 5 🤣🤣
Yeah I wouldn't put it in my top 5 either. But definitely top 10 in my opinion.
