At my very own level I got exactly the feeling you are describing, watching this. High point was last year in the Col de la Forclaz in France, a flippin 911! Left on my arse at every reacceleration but right back to his bumper on the brakes, back tyres sideways and adrenaline through the red burgundy roof, haha... It was probably less impressive from the outside, he was probably no Senna etc. but no matter, the amount of fun and actual feeling on these things is endless. Salut from France.
With a clean windshield this little beast of a car would be even faster actually (she already have a red color which is another way to be faster). I'm a scientist so I can confirme that ;-)
Supercars are great but this shows how much fun can be had on a tight budget. Good lesson for rich people to get grounded and appreciate how lucky they are. Top guy and enthusiast. Love Citroën.

@@lulolee5325 the maximum the xsara can have is 167 hp. And his car isn't the sports one. So he has around 100 I'd say. But that's fine, I have a 75 hp car and it can for sure accelerate really good if you know it

Reminds me of like an early 90s supertouring car. Looking mostly standard, non-turbo screaming around a track and a good old H-pattern shifter. Absolutely this dude is having the most fun
As a RWD snob, I love seeing how a good FWD points, balances and dances around the car’s front end grip. Surely the ‘anti lag’ is a leaky/dribbly injector allowing fuel through to be combusted in the hot exhaust. I love the impromptu short shift he achieves by shifting the gear lever lower down at the gear boot/cover. I wonder if a BMW e36 318ti coupe can point into corners with the same balance as this car. Love everything about this.

Just out of curiosity - what made you think there was any double-clutching here? Are you from US? I've seen similar comments all around youtube in the car enthusiast area but I just don't know where this comes from. Can't imagine it's from a line from the original fnf 2001 movie that made people without any manual gearbox experience just assumed you doubleclutch when performance driving - but I don't have any other explanation for it at the moment.

Well that was one of the best laps I have seen all year, smiles per mile was ridiculous! It reminded me of winding the last out of cars in the late 90s!! The dirty windscreen was perfect 👍
CAT system. This car handles like a monster and the rear system was stock, even in low power engines. Was created for safety reasons, but obviously was also noticed in more aggressive rides. The car model "xsara" is also an icon in wrc, different mechanics tho.

My first lap on the Nordschleife was with a Xsara wagon (2.0L 90hp diesel) that you saw when we first met back in 2017, and back at that time I wished I had one of those VTS instead. Now I have a 406 Coupé as my project car but seeing this VTS being driven like that I wonder if I did the right choice. Awesome car, greatly underrated, and very good driver. Love to see some love for french cars, the best kind of shitboxes !
@@justincase9471 They are very front heavy indeed. That's why I always say that the best engine for this car in the 2.2L 4pot engine with 170hp, better balanced I think.
@@karadaglar77 The 605 had the PRV, the 406 has its replacement, the "PR", which is a lot more reliable, my car has 270k kms on the clock and still ticking like a champ, even with some laps of the Nürburgring in it.
@@Kalandaari I am running the later engine, the ES9J4S. The engine is now in it's second chassis and has done lots laps on Zolder, Zandvoort, Assen and about 800 laps on the nordschleife. The engine seems to handle the abuse well, the only problem that I see with these engines is oil leaking from the valve covers (which can be fixed easily) and vacuum hoses that turn to crumbles after 20 years. I am contemplating on using a 2.2HDI Coupe next year for the ring. It's lighter in the front and it's a huge fuel saver.
Unbelievable how (relatively) close to stock this still is! If anyone at Citroën still cares about sporty driving and marketing, should get in touch with this guy asap

I run a 406 Coupe on the ring for fun. It's nice to drive, but with the V6 they are very heavy on the front.
v6 is a very good engine. I drove a friends 605 SV-24 and was impressed in 1997.
