You go girl. As a person who is disabled myself i totally agree. I was born with spina bifida and i struggle with my disability a lot. I try not to let it define who i am as a person.
I have the same disability. I just wanna let you know even though I don't know you personally I fully support you and what you wanna do! Don't let this hold you down!
I was in Disneyland with my friend one day and she saw this teenager in a wheelchair and went up to her saying, "You're not disabled, you're pretty!! And, you're not supposed to use wheelchairs from here if you're not disabled lol." The girl said, "I'm here with my family from Utah, and this is my 'Make A Wish,' wish.." I was so mad at my friend for even saying anything before this girl admitted to having cancer.. I'm friends with this girl I met at Disneyland that day.. And even though doesn't exist on Earth any longer, she exists in our hearts, forever.
this has given me so much hope. my grandpa has als and has pushed beyond what doctors thought he could and he’s part of the reason i keep going. i definitely have to show him this💕
I agree with you 100%. I am a 24 year old male living with Cerebral Palsy(CP) and have been in a wheelchair since I was 2 and an electric wheelchair since I was 4. And there have been days where I've felt depressed from it but those days are extremely rare. And believe me I have gotten those looks from people who look at me and all they see is the wheelchair and I almost always want to say "Hey! This doesn't define me" but hey people think what they want to think. I do generally like it when kids come up and ask me why I'm in a wheelchair because of their natural curiosity and not just out of pity. I wish I had thought to do a RUclips channel like you. I live my life just like any other person, I put on my pants one leg at a time. P.S. This video has made my night. Sincerely yours, Joey Milman
As a disabled woman, I have to disagree. Unfortunately, a lot of people will take this womans (amazing story, mind you) story of perseverance and apply it to all disabled people because of Buzzfeed. Her story is not like anyone elses. I am disabled and you know what? I hate it. I've slowly been losing my ability to do things over the past 5 years, and I shouldn't just pretend like I'm okay with it. I won't pretend to be cocky of happy with my situation, because I'm not. I have a genetic disorder (EDS, just google it) that has ruined my life, my dreams, my aspirations. At 15 everything I had planned slowly slipped away. This woman has a great story, and she's living life, but that's not always the case for disabled people. Please understand that every disabled perosn experiences their situation differently. I expected Buzzfeed to at least have a disclaimed that says "Every disabled person may be in different experience and may not feel the same way", beyond her saying a single short sentence about it.
LOTI LadyOfTheInternet The extra disclaimer would be...extra. Obviously people go through different experiences even in a similar situation. I think that's common sense.
LOTI LadyOfTheInternet the lady did say she wasn't speaking for everyone in the video. But I really hope everything will get better for you. I have more medical than physical conditions, but I (generically) kinda understand his it feels to be seen as less than/damaged goods
Everyone perceives their pain, life troubles etc differently to the person next to them. It's just a fact of life. And she stated so. I honestly can't see how or why would she offend anyone with what she said?? Girl has ALS and won't be around for as long as some of us will, and all I can say is: good on her!!! Btw, I'm also a "zebra". I feel this sense of freedom, like I'm finally "free" after my diagnosis, I know it is what it is and that I can't change it but it won't rule my whole life.
Z 007 I have nothing wrong with her story or success, and if you read my comment I cover that she did say "this doesn't cover every disabled person". My issue is such a small statement is so easy to glance over when you're listening or watching this vide. I'm just disappointed that buzzfeed, who reached out to countless different types of people with different reactions, wouldn't be more careful. I'm sure if they made a video about a single cancer survivor who still lived their life to the fullest and barely covered that her story wasn't a blanket ideal for all cancer survivors, there'd be issue. There's just so many misconceptions to disabled people already. Having a big media company skew some of those by not being fully transparent is what worries/upsets me. I have dealt with discrimination from people that only get a partial idea because they view stories like this. "She can still go out/etc., why can you?" It's a very real and a very toxic idea, and buzzfeed is a large corporation that should not be perpetuating these things.
this was very encouraging for me as a multiple sclerosis patient. So many people struggle with diseases, mine happens to be one that is not visible to the naked eye but I refuse to let mine stop me from living and if you have a disability or even if you don't.. Live your damn life 💓
She had the love and support of her family. That was never negative but positive in her life. That alone is major factor to how she has such high confidence.
I don't. You don't have any obligation to feel good just because someone else is in worse position than you and still feeling good. Everyone's problem is big and important for themselves. You can't judge people's happiness OR sadness.
Burak Eren Not what she meant. This woman is making the absolute best out of her life because that's what she wants to do. Focus on the good. Plenty of people disabled or not, don't. Usually it's due to feeling sorry or oneself or finding ways to be your own obstacle.
Olivia N I've spent most of my life just trying to pass by and school without over achieving at anything, playing video games on nice sunny days and masturbating more times I would.care to count to. and when I look back on it all I must say LIFE WELL SPENT!
YES!!! REPRESENT! I have been waiting for buzzfeed to do a video on the disabled! They have touched into almost everything but the disabled community! As a person with severe hearing loss, I relate so hard with this girl! SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS! ❤️❤️❤️
I can totally relate to this! I have a few chronic illnesses and I was really anxious and embarrassed to use a wheelchair, especially around people I knew and people who had previously only ever seen me up and looking 'fine'. Now I feel like a chair is a way for me to escape a life where I'm bed bound or unable to get out and explore the world and have some form of a life. I don't care what people think, although it does annoy me when people aren't polite when I ask to sit down because I don't fit their stereotype as disabled. I love this video, it's a way of showing a wider audience that you are not your illness and you can still have a life ❤️❤️❤️
As a person with an invisible illness, I get that sitting high is so hard sometimes, especially when people don't understand and say mean or nasty things about you. She is so inspiring and I just found my new role model.
"I am always going to push through; I'm always going to stay positive; And I'm going to do the best that I can to be the best version of me!" Words to live by!! ♥️ I have no choice but to be positive. I'm still young. I don't want my illness to control me. I try to live my life to the fullest, regardless of it, but mindful of it. She's so strong, so beautiful, so cool! Thank you so much for putting this video up. X
Thank you for being so positive. Tuesday's with Morrie made me sad and you are being the same as him. Thank you for being positive and living and loving on.
The thing i don't understand about people not being very helpful to disabled people or being rude is that anyone of us could become disabled at any point in our life and just because we may be able bodied now doesn't mean disability access and sensitivity won't ever be relevant to us
Bambi sadly it's society. Society has the disabled community put into a box. We are treated as though we are less human unlike the rest of the population who don't have these struggles. Society has always made it okay to be like this because our problems, the disabled community, has always been shoved under a rug (or feels like it to me). Recently, I had to tell a professor of my severe hearing loss and he told me I don't act like it (because I can talk and function like a normal human being). Apparently I have to act a certain way to show I have a disability and the rest of society acts similar to how one of my professors did.
Waverly Alonso it's really awful and people don't realise that the disability itself is not the only obstacle in a disabled person's life, they don't realise that society makes it so hard for them too. For me personally, I think everything needs to be more accessible and inclusive for disabled people just because it's the compassionate and human thing to do to help other people, but for those who don't care about other people, I don't see how the fact that they could become disabled is not enough for them to want to improve disabled accessibility within society. I have heard many stories of disabled people, particularly women, having their disabilities met with skepticism and it's really shocking to me that people are so quick to oppose a person's disabled status. I don't understand what people have against making life easier for others
Like seriously, how much effort does it really take to just build a ramp where you would build stairs because it's not like ramps can only be used by people in wheelchairs and how much effort does it really take to create subtitles for a video? Not that much, really, in the grand scheme of things
wow love this video. its so good to see someone who is not depressed with a disability. its changing my views about my physical disability now. i feel lucky i can still walk but suffering with dislocated knee caps everyday and knee pain is a nightmare. and when i am on crutches people always say to me that i dont look disabled aswell so why use crutches. like i tell them i use crutches because it helps support me when walking and stop my knee dislocating.
That’s a great way to look at life! I almost went blind twice. But I’ve overcome that part of my life! I’m legally blind and happy the way I am! I wouldn’t change anything! There’s still those days where I get frustrated with it too. Every person with a disability is going to have a different experience with life. And disability comes in very diverse ways. It’s important to hear from other people with disabilities their own stories to create awareness and change in society.
OMG I love her! she just made my day, and made me realize how unappreciated we are sometimes with the things we have in life. she is amazing, I have a disability too and her attitude made me feel so much better about it
Thank you! As someone who doesn't "look" disabled and as someone who doesn't always live in the moment, I really appreciate the things said in this video! Cheers!
Seeing this video makes me so emotional. My dad died from ALS in 2015 when I was only 13 and it's still so heartbreaking because no one understands. Like thousands of people have it, but after the ice bucket challenge, everyone seemed to forget about it. Just seeing that Buzzfeed took the time to talk to someone who has it and raise awareness is so so comforting beyond words because now more people can see what it's like (': I just had to leave this emo comment real quick but thank you so much to the people who produced this
This really helped me, recently I've had to use a wheelchair to get out the house. I have a disease called ehlers danlos syndrome and I have bad chronic pain and problems with my muscles and joints. It's taken a lot to get used too as I used to be a dancer and so independent. This was really comforting, I've been struggling with staying positive xxx
What a confident, strong woman. I'm so glad to have heard her story and how she has chosen to live fully with her disability. This has inspired me to live through my own struggles, not live life around my own struggles.
Lycagen what she means is that she doesn't let anyone to stop her from living and striving through life. A lot of society thinks that most of the disabled community is less human or just less of a person because they don't have the ability for a particular thing. She's still a beautiful functioning human being. It's hard for the rest of society to see that because we are suppose to fit in a stereotypical box for those with disabilities.
Congrats! I have ALS also (not nearly as young as you) and I've always loved life and lived it to its fullest. I have a good time every day. Good luck on your journey. There have been so many incredible things happen since my Dx and I'm sure you probably experienced the same
😭my neighbor aka my best friend has cerebral palsy and he gets bullied so much and I showed this to him and he just cried because he's gonna try to be positive like her. Thank you
Definitely what I needed as I have fibromyalgia. You're an inspiration woman! I wish you all the best and can't wait to see you continue to kill it out there!
She is gorgeous, glam and a gamechanger when it comes to ALS and a person who just happens to have a disability! You go girl! Continue to sit higher and inspire!
Her channel is Sitting Pretty Lolo guys!! I found her when she did a collab with The Tommy Edison Experience (blind since birth youtuber) Subscribe to both of them! They are both so happy and positive it will make your life infinitely better!
I have EDS, (Ehlers Danlos syndrome) my joints pop out of place in a daily basis. It's not easy but I totally agree with her. People think that you should look disabled. I hear that all the time and it's really annoying. I'm only 12 and I have pain like I imagine a 60 yr old would have. I can live my life like a normal person it's just not easy. But it's life. And nothing worth something is easy. I sprain and fracture and dislocate. Thank God I don't have to be in a wheelchair. Does anyone else here have EDS? We are strong fighters. People look at us as if we're crazy when we tell them we are disabled. I'm sorry? You can't look at someone and say, "Gosh look at that asthmatic." So please don't treat us any differently. We know how to handle this condition, and we are strong and we all fight through it. That's what you have to do. We couldn't live any other way
I have Spina Bifida and Chiari Malformation. I LOVE how much independence my wheelchair gives me. I hate the whole 'you don't look disabled'/'you're too young to have that (walker/wheelchair)' people! Live every day, beautiful lady!
Keri C worse yet is hearing " you look like you've been in an accident" and knowing it's meant to be a compliment. It's every woman's dream to hear they look like they've been hit by a bus 🤣
I get the "You don't look disabled" quite alot because my disability is not obvious, even when I walk with my walking aid because I'm young (17) people say that I'm faking it or its not real. Even family members who know I'm in pain mock me for not being able to walk down or up stairs and me having to the lift. It's so inspiring to see someone be so confident in who they are.
My sister has cerebal palsy. People never understood when we would say "she isn't handicapped " cuz to us she was just our sister. She is happily married with 2 beautiful children. She is strong and powerful despite her disability. This video is my all time favorite.
Lolo this is such a great video! I'm so proud of you. In addition to being beautiful and talented you have a kind heart and an amazing work ethic! Continue to sit high!
HELL YEEAAAA LO LO.....KEEP SHINEING!!! 👏👏👏😃 I luv when you work with Buzzfeed to widen your audience to inform people about your disability! and show them that you're just all around dope person like anyone else!
I like how she put everyone's assumptions to shame ,she's experiencing life the same way everyone should doesn't matter if ur in a wheelchair or not , disabled or not.
I have a condition similar to ALS that causes me to look perfectly healthy while still being confined to a wheelchair and it is SO rare to see people in my situation radiate with such positivity and confidence. She's my new idol!! thanks so much buzzfeed
This is so nice to see, especially since my dad has the same disease. I'm glad to see someone who has concord ALS and still lives their life to the fullest.
She is extremely inspirational. Thank you for sharing this video and the life of this woman. She truly has the mindset of a successful person and she lives more freely than most of us do with perfectly functioning bodies.
There is a boy I know who has this so he got a motorized wheelchair but dispite been disabled he is the most cheerful kind sweet person I have ever met ,he knows how to light up someone's day just by talking to them ,just because your different doesn't mean your sad or at a disadvantage, take that into account next time you feel down
A part of me wishes they didn't always use people wheel chair bound when talking about disability. I wish we could get some attention for the invisible disabilities.
Thank you so much i wish the same for you as well.

TheMovieMyLife Never noticed until I saw this comment hahaahha it's true
She is just so cool, empowered, and strong! So inspiring. Also, her style is amazing 😍👏🏼

You need new friends if you're still friends with the person that insensitive to say something so rude.
ThePantaloon I'm from Utah (sorry had to throw that in there) I think this is amazing anyways I'm really glad that you became her friend and such
ThePantaloon "you're not disabled, you're pretty"... that's fucked up lol

she stated in the video that she can't speak for everyone
Everyone perceives their pain, life troubles etc differently to the person next to them. It's just a fact of life. And she stated so.
I honestly can't see how or why would she offend anyone with what she said??

Lycagen what she means is that she doesn't let anyone to stop her from living and striving through life. A lot of society thinks that most of the disabled community is less human or just less of a person because they don't have the ability for a particular thing. She's still a beautiful functioning human being. It's hard for the rest of society to see that because we are suppose to fit in a stereotypical box for those with disabilities.
Such an inspiration! Great reminder that your quality of life sits solely on yourself.
Congrats! I have ALS also (not nearly as young as you) and I've always loved life and lived it to its fullest. I have a good time every day. Good luck on your journey. There have been so many incredible things happen since my Dx and I'm sure you probably experienced the same
you can tell she is very genuine.
her channel is called "Sitting Pretty Lolo" if anyone's wondering
Thank you! I really wanted to look her up!
I found her when she did a collab with The Tommy Edison Experience (blind since birth youtuber)
Subscribe to both of them! They are both so happy and positive it will make your life infinitely better!
I feel so alone down here
Jr Jimnzz Hey, I'm here.
This woman is amazing , like you go girl. Such an inspiration 💙💙💙
We couldn't live any other way
"I sit high boo" YAS you go girl. Stay winning 🎉👏
This is so inspirational, not only to people with a disability but for everybody in general. Everybody should try to be a bit more like her.
My sister has cerebal palsy. People never understood when we would say "she isn't handicapped " cuz to us she was just our sister. She is happily married with 2 beautiful children. She is strong and powerful despite her disability.
This video is my all time favorite.
Your confidence and view on life is so inspiring! Go and keep on slaying life, queen!
So inspiring x YOU GO GIRL !
Why are people disliking such a beautiful nice video with a great message?
Panic! on the toilet because it's cancer I don't care about someone that can't walk or do anything better than me besides drowning
Lolo this is such a great video! I'm so proud of you. In addition to being beautiful and talented you have a kind heart and an amazing work ethic! Continue to sit high!
As a disabled woman who also beat the odds, I say GET IT GIRL! Disability does not mean your life stops! #StayStrong

Love how positive she is about it, and the fact she doesn't even bat an eye.

"Well wtf is that supposed to mean" bruh I died 😂🤦🏽♀️
She is extremely inspirational. Thank you for sharing this video and the life of this woman. She truly has the mindset of a successful person and she lives more freely than most of us do with perfectly functioning bodies.
this is so important thank you for this
inspirational well done buzzfeed
There is a boy I know who has this so he got a motorized wheelchair but dispite been disabled he is the most cheerful kind sweet person I have ever met ,he knows how to light up someone's day just by talking to them ,just because your different doesn't mean your sad or at a disadvantage, take that into account next time you feel down
A part of me wishes they didn't always use people wheel chair bound when talking about disability. I wish we could get some attention for the invisible disabilities.
