U.P had an auction with about 27 SD 60 as-is locomotives in Avondale LA. in Feb. this year by Blackmon auctions, those locomotives sold for around $65.000.00 to $70.000.00 each and up. These units will come up. None are scrapped.
The most interesting thing about the first UP train was that the locos were actually CLEAN! If UP washed them, they must be up for sale. They certainly don’t wash anything in service in Iowa.
There's a yard in Houston's East End full of idled power, some that looks picked over. There's also a small UP locomotive shop at Milby and McKinney in the track and sign facility, near one of the Sampson Street cameras.
I am still holding out some hope to see a Time-lapse recap of the diamond replacement project there at Tower 26 Houston. Is that still in the works? One of our neighbors is a UP mech and he said they are bringing a lot of the old SD70Ms back into service either for fleet use or power leasing. They need updated electronics and inspections but once they are blue carded, they will be back on the road! And I don't know what you call the paint scheme but it was the very first CSX scheme, moments after the deal was signed and they went out and scraped off the "Seaboard System" logos and put the blue CSX on in its place. That's the one I look for. The only picture I ever got of me running while I was at CSX was on an SD40-2 in Tampa, FL with that color scheme.
Most of these comments think the UP power move is being scrapped 😂 A good chunk of those units are still extremely good rebuild cores or are realtively new. For example the two DIT SD70ACes are literally 10 years old, likely shit the bed. Most of these are going for repair, and the AC4400s especially, definently rebuild material. The SD70Ms on the other hand, likely for long-term storage in one of their primary facilities
UP 1759 SD40-2 Snoot at Tower.26 was a nice catch and also the IHB Lash-up at Blue Island was good to see, thank you.
If going to storage, it would emulate the UP locos sitting on the rust line at the facility at Dolores Yard, LA.

I really enjoy seeing all of these trains thank you.🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
Why, oh why, am I so fascinated by these giant beasts?! 😮😊 00:30

My favorites CSX paint schemes are 1973 CHESSIE systems 1976 CONRAIL 1967 and 1972 heritage units
Might be head to the Jenn’s Shop in NLR Arkansas
My only assumption for the first train is that they're heading for rebuilding.
They are not heading for rebuild. They are heading for scrap
no.
I think scrap
UP recently brought a lot of SD70Ms back into service so who knows

Very interesting! Thank you for the info. Yea, i think I know what paint scheme you're talking about at CSX. It looked sharp for sure.
