Tried this foil method last night. WOW what a game changer that is! The difference/improvement to me was shocking. I have been cooking for 4 decades - and you're still taking me to school. Thanks as always for the tips & tricks and taking the time to share them with the rest of us :-)

Kent, I wanted to try this because I had traditionally avoided chops because they were always dry. I found some think cut chops at the store and I tried them on the grill for the time yesterday. Man o'man, did it work like a charm. I loved the flavor of those chops. I was amazed at how tender and juicy it was. And Miss Shannon is right...Kerrygold butter is amazing. I have been using it for at least a year, and that butter was amazing on those chops!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe! Word of advise for any reader, be sure to use a heavy duty foil. I used Reynolds, but it tore a little too easily. Heavy duty is the way to go.

I love living in South Texas. I get my Live Oak and Mesquite for free. You have to be able to recognize the bark and the cut portion of the wood on any kind of tree when you're picking it up. Tip of the day for whatever wood grows in your area that you like. Check your brush pickup schedule and go about a week ahead of the truck have you changed already if you need it. Be sure you leave the pile better then when you got there organized neat and clean

Len Hart That’s sadly exactly what my Mom, Grannie, and Grandma all cooked. Thin, burnt, dry, char-pork. Luckily I’m much more handy with a chop. They got me beat big time on so many other dishes and I love em to high heaven, but I know a lot of people who don’t like pork chops for that exact reason: never had em right. Pork chips is funny and painfully true! All the best.

I ran across Kent Rollins about 3 months ago on RUclips. Some of his stuff I’ll never be able to manage but other recipes like this pork chop video are great. Hands down the most entertaining food videos of ANY food show. What color is a Granny Smith, green baby green, like me, green with envy I can’t be there. Word!! Helps being house bound with the current situation. Can’t but help social distancing out on the range. I’d like to think Kent lives on a ranch whose closest neighbor is beyond hollering range. Now I have to get me some of that seasoning for my pork chops!

I very much enjoyed your video. Nice to great minds cook alike.
I do a few things to change it up. What comes out of the foil is a great dipping sauce or can be a lovely brown gravy for dipping, smothering, used on baked taters. My English side likes to sprinkle some Worcester sauce in the gravy (always optional).
The other option is to mix up your personal Bar B Que sauce or your favorite store sauce and coat your dead pig for the last few minutes, do not burn the sugar.
    Take care from Oklahoma,
    Mike and Vee

Kent- I used your recipe to grill our pork chops this evening with just a few modifications. Instead of a wood or charcoal fire, I used our gas grill to cook the chops inside the foil along with our Lodge cast iron griddle to brown and finish the chops. Your original Red River Ranch seasoning and cooking tips were spot on. The meat was moist and full of flavor. Our bone wasn't as big in our chops but still made a good handle to enjoy every last bite. What a treat to get a good pork chop without having to pay an arm and a leg at some restaurants. Thank you! One item I need to get is a non seasoned meat tenderizer. We use the lime juice and it seems to work well. Why do you use both the lime juice and the meat tenderizer in most or all of your videos? Does the meat tenderizer do something to the meat that the lime juice doesn't and the other way around, too?

    • @CowboyKentRollins
      @CowboyKentRollins  6 лет назад +1

You can find the meat tenderizer sometimes on Amazon, or at Sam's club. They both work together to make things better

It’s more than just a negative comment, it will tell RUclips that they don’t want more of this type of video too. But ya, probably PETA downvoting all grilled meat videos... and no, not People Eating Tasty Animals... lol

Made these tonight using a cast iron skillet instead of a grill. They were amazing and juicy. Thanks

Hey Kent Shannon and The Beagle, may the Frank be watching down on you all! We miss him too. Thanks for sharing again about this video. You have a great Relish that is great on a lot more things than you showed today. If'n you haven't tried it by now you got no idea what you've been missing. It's the best condiment (thank God for spell check on that word) that I have tasted. Want to thank you for sharing. You need to get the Cook Book, you won't believe the recipes you'll find in there. Thank you so much folks. My Daughter-in-Law likes the CookBook you sent to her and I really like the Tall Trivet I bought and the Green Chili Chipotle Relish I got from you folks and of course the Cookbook I bought from you years ago. Keep up the good work and videos. Thanks for sharing.

    Bone in! Why? Because it's a handle, that's what it's for :)

With that knowledge, WE DON"T NEED NO STINKIN' UTENSILS! Use that bone as a handle and tear right into the pork chop! To hell with rules!

Shan is right, Kent. Ireland has 1) grass fed beef, and 2) The Irish don't pasturize the milk before they make the butter so you get all of that wonderfully flavored living bacteria in the butter. Mmmm!!

We had a milk cow as a kid and we never pasteurized our milk. It was the best. When we switched to store bought milk it tasted like water.

Well I've been cooking a long time. I never would have thought to do a short Texas Cheat for chops, and at the BEGINNING of the cook for a reverse sear no less! I'm a huge fan Kent and have watched all of your video's, but this in my eyes just upped my opinion of how good you are. Thanks. I will do this soon for sure!

I'm definitely going to do this. I always just lay them on the gas grill. But now I will wrap in foil first with some real butter.

Hi again Kent. Yes Shan is right here in Ireland we do have very good butter and we export most of it to the states so get yourself some and try it out. Look for the brand Kerrygold some states in America have banned the sale of Irish butter altogether. Looking forward to my pork chops stay safe and may God bless you and your good family Amen. Kindest regards from the green sod Ireland
