I really wish they would just outlaw data harvesting. I know greed makes it nearly impossible, but it needs to happen.

Depends where you live... it is outlawed in some places, such as some places in Europe. I think London is one, or somewhere close to there... Facebook, Apple & Google aren't allowed to collect data there, I assume Microsoft isn't. There are places that are very strict on what what data can be collected, especially from end users.
Sometimes you can change these rules by changing your country & timezones during setup. I'm not sure if this works for here though, or with pc's... I've only used it with phones, TV boxes, & other portable or smaller gadgets. VPN connections can be used to some extent as well, but a VPN doesn't change the usage policies agreed to during setup.
I kinda want to look into this for pc's now, I haven't thought of this before, in this regard. Looks like I got some more homework to do
@@GenXTechit would be nice if you read my comment to the other user, and possibly looked into what I said, for a video on it. This may open up new possibilities for initial pc setups that disables data collection or gives better privacy.
& it'll save me a lot of research, I currently already work up to 70 hrs a week & I'm hoping to offload this research task onto someone else :) & you have a larger voice than I currently have
It looks like the European Union has comprehensive legislation on data collection, to allow users to remain in control of their data, even with the options for users to have any of their data deleted upon request. From light research, Germany is one of the strongest enforcers of these laws, fining Google, I think €60 million in 2019. I did not dive into this at all, just a couple quick questions with an AI chatbot with internet access. I think France charges up to 4% of yearly income as a fine but have so far fined a company a lesser total amount than Germany.
I just setup a new mini comp with Germany as my country and went through setup for WIN 11 Pro. Haven't yet compared it to any US installs. So far, several Privacy options were available during initial setup that I opted out of. Only 4 apps were running as startup apps. I think I chose NO on all setup questions for inking, advertising, diagnostics data, etc.
So far, it looks like 2% ~2.5GB of Ram being used from my hard drive with cpu usage at 1% when I landed on the desktop without internet, with 137 processes. It didn't push for a Microsoft account. I setup a local account. I did not connect to internet during setup nor when I looked up memory & CPU usage within task manager, after landing on the desktop. Looks like many apps were left out of install.
Haven't yet compared it to any US installs to know any differences, nor have I installed or used WIN 11 previously. I did do this while in the States. Using a Beelink SER5 5700U Pro, that I received in the mail today. I think I put my timezone for some islands east of the US, or Mexico, as I'm on eastern time zone in the states that uses daylight savings. I then saved these settings to be applied across any added users beyond my local admin account that I started the setup as
as someone who's not very tech savvy with a 10-ish year old lenovo lap top, i'd love to see a video about how to take care of older tech. just general maintenance stuff

The sad part is even off these still run with each update just in the background. To truly disable would take a bit of programming knowledge and changing of the subnets collecting the information from the computer. You would need to set windows to reset it self on shutdown without accepting updates of the OS. These settings simply reset themselves and run even while off appearing to the user as Microsoft intends.
How about a tutorial for startpage browser, instead of Google?

Informative! Somebody mentioned about the need to turn off telemetry and debloat. Any suggestions/instructions?
I have like 7 to 10 videos on PC cleaning. 2 or 3 of them mention telemetry and how to disable. Super easy stuff.

It’s not that I want to keep my data secret, they should pay me for it
in my case it’s just so my laptop is a bit faster, lol.
How do we know that turning these off actually does anything apart from changing an icon from on to off, could easily just a placebo, making people think that it says off so it must be off.
i dont have a wifi card and i use ethernet should i do something there?

Even if you disable all these features, the moment you use Office 365 or OneDrive, Microsoft can and will get all of your data AND share it. This is specified on the new guidelines for Windows 11 update.

I had all these off already. :) Yet, I am unable to stop or disable the required data sent to microsoft. Where it knows what my system is and whether its working. I do not even want to sent them this snooping report. Any way to go into the registry and remove this reporting or disable it? :)

They still collecting. Settings are almost useless. Office 365 have own telemetry in the installation. In German schools office365 is banned because Microsoft violate against the GDPR

There are a ton more ways they do this. To completely remove all the background processes that collect data you need to just use Linux lol. GET OFF MY LAWN!
In 2 easy steps:
1 uninstall Microsoft Windows
2 install Linux
Problem solved

Honestly. The first time I installed Linux Mint it felt so minimalist, beginner-friendly and clean. It performs even faster than Windows on my high-end system.
The only reason I went back to Windows 10 is because of some shitty games like CoD which didn't work on Linux.
But the optimal setup would be having dual boot systems. Linux is the main one for everything including games while Windows only for those half-assed games that refuse to work on Linux.
