The library at Rockingham is so beautiful, Northamptonshire is so rich in amazing houses, so many in such close proximity makes it an ideal area for a interesting holiday.
What a beautiful and, above all, detailed documentary in which every aspect of such an impressive house is shown. I want to see more stories like this! 🙂
Dear Viscountess Julie, you can fit so much into a day! Love your energy and so thankful you do so much and are able to being all of this to us as the history is amazing! Love it so much. My husband's family were part of the Plantagenet and Tudors. Cannot remember exactly how many but grandfather's, but would need to look in order to give the exact generation back, but he has found he can go back to King Henry the 2nd and 3rd . I am from upstate NY. Thank you for all you do!
I stumbled upon this video and o glad I did. How lovely. What a beautiful place. The enthusiasm of both Julia, and the owner of rocking ham, and the staff made it all the more special. Thank you Julia 😘
This is quite fascinating to me. My heritage on my dad's side is Welsh/English. My hometown is Rockingham, North Carolina. Lovely house and documentary. Thank you.
Lovely. Video one of the best for me ..beautiful castle…lovely gentleman to listen to…you are also a lovely lady watch all the homes you visit..will definitely will be visiting this year as I live in Northamptonshire 🙏❤️👍
@eileenfoster1811, I wasn't going to comment but he certainly is a lovely and gracious man. I too thought the same thing, and I also enjoy Julie's enthusiasm in all her videos, it's a great series. Cheers from Washington DC 😊
We have a little bar peninsula in our kitchen that we drop everything onto when entering the house. We call it a “Catch-All”. You have a whole wash house as a Catch-All! Ha ha ha.
Fascinating! Thank you Julie, and to your excellant production team. I have been particularly interested as my family and I spent a whole day there during our UK visit in1976. My late wife's family were closely connected to the castle as a family member was employed there for decades. How I would love to see those rose gardens! Best wishes, Rodney, from Vancouver Island BC (I am an ol' London chap)
Happy 950th Anniversary Castle Rockingham. Such a lovely gesture to allow Viscountess Julie Hitchingbrook Montagu to add a couple stitches 🧵 to the large Rockingham embroidery 🪡 💛💛💛
I love anything family history but let it slide as I'm not well n need surgery but it's my uncle that has got all the way back to William. As of king John we are descended from one of his mistresses ! I need to renew my ancestry account as it's all on there.
Interesting about the roses not doing well were there was a previous bush , this is only my theory! Like people and animals plants and trees have a consciousness, imagine being uprooted from your home without pre warning or reasons agreeable to you ? You would leave reluctantly , leaving behind residual grief and trauma for the next people , plants are the same , asking permission and forgiveness goes along way to heal the space left behind for the next plant or tree❤
I absolutely must know why that gravel is literally all over England. Downton Abbey, here, Endeavor, A Place Xalled Home, on and on. What is the gravel story?
Julie, why would you go around the castle to help in a white coat. A white coat staking the fires really. I love your shows, but this was in such shock.
There is history from this castle and the Watson family to our neck of the woods here in eastern Ontario. Back in the mid 19th century John Watson was sent to Canada from this castle to open a town a few kilometres from where we live. The new town was called Rockingham. It is still here with a few inhabitants. I believe John Watson was a bit of a black sheep and wasn’t toeing the line I suppose so he was cast out. That’s the story I heard anyway. He arrived in eastern Ontario with a Joseph Kinder who was a doctor. My wife and her family are partially descended from Joseph Kinder.
I love this show but I’m thinking about starting a drinking game for every time she says brilliant. 😂
Or “oh my goodness” 😅
Incredible 😂
“ littrally “
All the words she has said, rose and the others mentioned in the comment section. She is a sweet lady but we can tell what her favorite words are 😂
I will never get my house cleaned if you keep posting these addictive videos.
The Viscountess is such a warm and sweet soul. I enjoy everything she presents. ❤️🕊️

William the Conqueror is in my ancestors!! So I do find this video truly amazing
My husband's as well! We might well be cousins or somehow connected anyway!
I think my possible ancestor killed his son, also named William.

Thank you for sharing . This documentary was very informative. My hats off to the head gardener, he was so genuine and humble.

The size of the fireplace!

I'm a direct descendent of William The Conqueror, I want my castle back !😢

Me too!
Greetings Julie from 🙋♀️🇨🇦
Beautiful castle
Beautiful, but where is the Portager? The only thing I see missing in the gardens?
*I didn't know this even existed. Please share on your other channels!! 💗
My family seat ,Leybourne Grange was turned into a lunatic assylum 1:15:54
William the Conqueror was my 26th great-grandfather🤺🇬🇧...pretty cool
He's mine too, though I can't remember how many grts back 😂. We are through king John .
@@deborahbailey7679 that's pretty neat. I have King John he is my 22 great-grandfather. I don't know if it means anything but it sure is fun.
I love anything family history but let it slide as I'm not well n need surgery but it's my uncle that has got all the way back to William. As of king John we are descended from one of his mistresses ! I need to renew my ancestry account as it's all on there.
@@deborahbailey7679 I hope your surgery goes well. I just had to have a hip replacement a new months ago I could hardly walk.Stay safe and well.🖐️🌸
This might be the wackiest episode ever. I am so excited to see what you do with your extra space.

I love the video, but an ad from Abode every 6 minutes is most annoying to say the least.
Pay for premium and the ads all go away… just saying
Agreed with the first comment!
The advertisement s pay for these beautifully made videos which you are enjoying at no cost! Good afternoon enjoy these gawjus
I haven’t paid for premium and there wasn’t a single advertisement 🤷🏻
That’s why I have premium, I’m on RUclips a lot. Instead of TV. Premium is worth the money most definitely 👍🏻
Wasnt cotchford farm in sussex area built by william the conqueror too.
Brian Jones lived there before he died.
William the conqueror my 27 th Great Grandfather 😅
Mine too!
The Earl of Sandwich that sold the family home also was abusive to children and his own youngest son and narrowly avoided prison
Willem de Veroveraar 😅
First English King of French origin 🤔 😮
How did the ladies find space for their full skirts?
That's a good question 😏
I absolutely must know why that gravel is literally all over England. Downton Abbey, here, Endeavor, A Place Xalled Home, on and on. What is the gravel story?
Wait this is Rockingham castle Corby!!
Love the content but the background music….horrible. I want to watch a documentary…. not a musical. 😢😢
WAY too many ads, forget it.
Why didn't she put her coffee cup down?
Did you ever ask if the house has a priest hideout?
Interesting but Julie likes the sound of her own voice too much, it would be nice to hear more from the people she was talking to.
Julie your husband has very nice history.
Dorothy looks like a Dutch Lady
The title of viscountess does not make one dignified or graceful, nor does it create reserved ladylike charm.
Julie, why would you go around the castle to help in a white coat. A white coat staking the fires really. I love your shows, but this was in such shock.
This was quite a combination. Not sure what look she was aspiring to achieve.
Cardboard is not the answer to reducing pathogens ,better off coating bare roots with microrisones
M'lady is truly going to punch somebody in the face one day she waves her arms around so much.
She really needs a stylist.
She keeps it simple, what were you expecting? Powdered wigs?
She's kinda phoney and a bit annoying
Nice!
