    With the arrival of the Novablast 5, the price of the 4 went down, so I got a new pair of Novablast 4, and later next year I'll go with the 5 if nothing better is on the market at that time

      Did you check out the manufacturing month and year? I see on the internet that if the shoe is sitting unused for more than 6 months, it loses the quality, becomes hard. Which is why they are on offer.

    I've done just on 100k in my pair of Novablast 5 now, I'm really enjoying them for my daily easy running. They are fine for doing some strides at the end of an easy run, but I feel like they don't feel so great for tempo or threshold paces which I used to feel the Novablast 4 was quite good at. My local running store owner said that slight shift in use case will make more sense when asics release some new models towards the middle of next year.

    Bought the Novablast 5 and the Novablast 4TR. Went for a quick run in both, with an increase in pace in both. I immediately prefered the feel of the NB4. Felt faster, and more responsive. So I returned the NB5. I'm on the heavier side, and am a forefoot striker. Oh and the grip on the TR version is exceptional. A plus in the autumn/winter months. 👍🏾

      how is the grip on NB4TR?

    • @ilike79
      @ilike79 Месяц назад +2

      @@MrJermson The grip is a serious step up from the normal version of the shoe. Good in wet conditions. Great for light trails. Even noticable on dry roads. Also due to there being more rubber underfoot, the durability of the outsole significantly increases. The increase in weight due to there being more rubber is hardly noticable, and the ride of the shoe is pleasant on the roads. The only down side, is that there are only two colour options, when it comes to the NB4tr.

    Have both the nb4 and nb5. To me the novablast 4 are good daily trainers that you can also get a bit of pace out of (set my 5k pb in them). The 5's seem to be a slightly bigger shoe and definitely feel like more of an easy/long cruiser. Very comfortable shoe if thats what youre looking for. If youre looking to get pace out of them id look elsewhere.

    Glad you got hold of it for the unbiased review. Have v4 and find it a bit bland (neither cushioned or responsive). The outsole is terrible on v4 and I don’t use in low light (which is most morning runs) or damp and wet (most of the rest of the days until summer!). Too bad the outsole isn’t fixed or I’d consider the other improvements given the price. Superblast 2 has no such grip issues or the SL2 so I’ll stick with them for now.

    I just took mine out for their first run (easy pace) on a very rainy day here in DC. While I could sense a slight bit of slippage, I wouldn't say it was anywhere near the pair of Novablast 3s I owned. I would say the grip in the rain is slightly less than that of the Superblast 2's I own, but I don't think it's an overriding concern. Overall I think they're probably fine for most runners in the rain.

      @@didiervanrompaey I never ran in the 1 but got the 2 recently and with the changed rubber compound (Asics grip) on the outsole it's been perfectly fine in wet conditions! And I live in the PNW in Canada so all my runs (~80K so far) have been in wet conditions on wet pavement, sometimes with leaves and a bit of mud and some light gravel / non technical trail as well. I'd say go for the Superblast 2 if the only thing holding you back was trepidation on wet traction based on your experience with the 1's as it has been a non-issue for me with the 2's.

    Wouldn't recommend this for heavier runners, the foam is way too soft to maintain stability. I owned a pair of NB 3's and had to retire them at 340km as this midsole had twisted from constant overpronation as all the foam wanted to do each step was collapse inwards. Never had this problem with any other running shoes I've owned. Good rule of thumb for a heavier runner is to get a shoe with stiffer foam as they will compress well and give plenty of bounce at heavier bodyweight. 98kg for reference.

    Would love to try these buy for some reason asics don't do size 43. So 42.5 is just too short and 43.5 is overall abit big. 43 would be perfect but they don't seem to think anyone would wear a 43 despite having half sizes at other sizes.

    Mate I genuinely don't know how you have such a bad grip in wet weather. I ran a super hilly half marathon race in the Novablast 4 and had great grip, I was actually surprised at how grippy it was. And for reference I was doing like 3min/ km in the downhills, under the rain.

    Hey Ben! I bought your level 4 Half Marathon training plan, really enjoying it so far but just wondering your thoughts on my easy runs: if I run to heart rate my easy runs tend to be 5:45-6:00/km, but in the plan it's asking me to run my easy runs 5:04-5:36/km - what should I do? hit the paces or aim to keep it within heart rate? I recently ran 5k PB of 19:18, so I feel like the 90 min half is within my grasp. Love the Long Runs in the plan by the way!!

    Ive been a big fan of Nb1-3 but I find myself slower in the 4th version. No idea why. Makes me question whether I'll get the 5th version if its softer...
