I remember watching this game on tv when I was 10 years old. Proud to be Tongan 🇹🇴 Proud of our boyz, even though we lost , they still did us proud 🙏❤️
Tonga 🇹🇴 packs a lot of punch for such a small population. Its only an issue of lack of funding and opportunities that stops Tongan and Pacific island rugby in general from being much stronger imho. Its certainly not lack of skill, talent or passion. Its always a pleasure to watch you guys play rugby 🏉. From South Africa 🇿🇦
Pretorius was so underrated as a fly half man, i used to wonder why people never spoke of him highly back in the day, he was a great fly half, always spreading the ball, agile, did everything well. As a Fijian i admired pretorius in the super 12 days.
Boks usually have a dud in the pool stages against a tier 2 or 3 teams. Canada in 1995, Uruguay in 1999, Georgia in 2003, Tonga in 2007, Samoa in 2011, and obviously Japan in 2015. 2019 was the exception, although they lost to New Zealand.
2007 PI nations were on fire, that first up game against Samoa must've have registered on the Richter scale... Let's hope 2023 Boks perform better against Tonga than in 2007
Refs will forever be bias towards p.i teams, coz they don't wanna see us win. I swear if every top level islander were to play for their island side, you'll see them take down the biggest nations, just like in NRL how Tonga beat the best nation ( Australia) Also, if p.i teams gets ref'd from someone unbias, then they'd even go a longer way
I used to play against the Tongan wing (11) and the reserve halfback back in school lol. Went to same church with other Tongan wing (14). I Knew the Tongan hooker when he played for the Police team. And I was the one of the water boys when Tonga beat France in 1999 (when France toured the South Pacific right before the world cup in 1999). Small world lol. So I was really rooting for my Tongan team in this game.
1. Wayne Barnes was a bad ref in the 2007 world cup. 2. Tonga had a chance if the 'forward pass' in the 24th minute wasn't called, the 3 missed goal kicks, and the ball stayed in at the 79th minute. 3. Gary Botha, Wayne Julies, and Ashwin Willemse were all subbed off at the 44th minute by an angry Jake White. They would never play for the Boks again...
Hats off to the Springboks. But I liked how the commentators were constantly saying how the match wasn’t going to be close and that Tonga basically didn’t stand a chance.🤣🤣 Almost seemed like they were cheering for South Africa
that kick from pretorius at 10:30...i cant remember ever seeing a player on teli have the mud/ground/line routine when kicking to post's..iv'e had those times on the parkie with vriende in learskool
1:42:10 the side reff agrees, he looks at Percy with such disgust lol. But to be fair, Tonga played the game of their lives. Even the 'A' team coming on in the 45th minute struggled to contain them, and nearly did'nt if not for the bounce of the ball in the last play. I kinda wish they had won wouldve been a fairy tail story, even better than the number Japan did on us in 2015.

Tonga 676 🇹🇴🇦🇺
Although Tonga lost this was one of my favourite matches =)
This match was played the day before I was born the we went on and won it in 2007 and 2019🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Man that ref really robbed the Tongans of that try calling it a forward pass.

I agree, excellent all round 10. A career sure to be overshadowed with Montgomery, Habana, and de Villiers in the same lineup though
Al Haymon so far he hasn’t made a kick...
What have u smoked? He had a shocker, 4 missed kicks and struggled with distribution and kicking game also.
@@EllliotJackRussel1 oh no wonder im a bit high
He was absolutely shite in this game
Almost there but 4 years later we beat France the 2011 runners up
And this same year the Boks won the World Cup....also Fiji almost beat this Boks Team in the Quarter Final.
I was a proud Samoan watching this game Cheeehooo Tonga 🇹🇴
had i been watching this as a blind person with no rugby knowledge, id had thought that there were 3 teams playing at once

nothing wrong about losing to new zealand, that can be their excuse if they lose
Ref is racist

If this game went for one more minute Tonga would've won

‘Bias toward’ means the team getting favoured? Did you mean ‘bias against’?
Not being a grammar cop just cos i interpreted it that way

Hey do you have england v Ireland 2013? I’d love to watch it
thats six nations. world rugby only show world cup games.
1. Wayne Barnes was a bad ref in the 2007 world cup.
2. Tonga had a chance if the 'forward pass' in the 24th minute wasn't called, the 3 missed goal kicks, and the ball stayed in at the 79th minute.

9th March oo0😊😅99
Once again pathetic refereeing by Wayne Barnes. Clearly high tackles in front of him by the Tongans and everythi
Clearly high tackles by the Tongans and everything is just being overlooked.
LOL
🇹🇴 should have won. One of the best and strongest teams
