Watching in 2022. I was barely a year old when this went on. Glad to finally get to catch the game. 2019 was intense! This is bound to be just as intense!
Words cannot describe how big this game was in SA. The country was a hotbed of aggression, violence and despair but this world cup turned that around (short lived) dramatically and everyone was behind the single cause. Never felt anything like it. The other world cups we've won are great but this one has extra buzz. I'm so stoked and jealous people get to watch this for the first time.

Everyone remembers Stranksy's boot and Joost's tackle. I remember an 80 minute masterclass from Ruben Kruger. The man was on another planet this day. Haven't watched union properly since the 2011 world cup but this 95 all blacks team will always stick with me. I was 8 back then and all the kids had the Lomu haircut, including me lol
Regardless of who did it, 31/36 of the nz squad had food poisoning 2 days before the match, you can tell the abs arent rheir normal selves, colorless dry zombie like, they were changing their shorts thru the game because they soiled them, plus vomitting on the sideline. This is very hard to watch compared to rugby today. Too many stoppages, forwards are slow to break downs, sloppy work recycling the ball, no flare in the backs, It’s amazing how far the game has come in 25 years
what you mean? they dont reset the scrums 500 times a game and they are quick to restart every time. Lots of knock on's I agree, especially from lineouts with no lifting etc.
Don't want to take anything away from the Boks but generally speaking, world cup finals aren't the most entertaining form of rugby. sure, we still watch for the high stakes and the significance of it, but teams don't really take risks, and tries aren't scored often, rather, the game is decided by penalty goals.

Mehrtens confirmed that a few were sick after dinner on the Thursday night but that everyone was 100% fit on match day.

This is very hard to watch compared to rugby today. Too many stoppages, forwards are slow to break downs, sloppy work recycling the ball, no flare in the backs, It’s amazing how far the game has come in 25 years
what you mean? they dont reset the scrums 500 times a game and they are quick to restart every time. Lots of knock on's I agree, especially from lineouts with no lifting etc.

Don't want to take anything away from the Boks but generally speaking, world cup finals aren't the most entertaining form of rugby. sure, we still watch for the high stakes and the significance of it, but teams don't really take risks, and tries aren't scored often, rather, the game is decided by penalty goals.
